Well it looks like a crappy start. 25th at lap 1 and a bad lap214 on lap3 on moto2. Just shows how key at was today to get a good start even Osborne looked awesome and he only went from 10th to 2nd so that's kind of saying something

Theres no way he`s getting tops 5s! cody cooper showed him whos boss at this years new zealand mx nationals, and cody went 14-37-17-31 at the first 2 rounds, although wasnt a good run for him ferris will barely be in the top 10 if consistent
Laughing well there goes that theory, Qualified 3rd, 2nd & 14th after a first turn crash for a & 7th overall. Super impressive. Would be a top 10 contender all series

I was really bummed KTM dropped him after his injury in SX, very short sighted, they didnt even give him a chance outdoors where the guy does work!

Great first moto, I hope a team gives him a shot.. although I don't see it..SX is more important to these fools

KTM didn't drop him - ride opened up in the GPs, Ferris and Decoster decided it was the best way to go

the tracks in the US are a lot more demanding than in AUS so although he is fit and winning in Aus the difference in tracks could really test his fitness more than on home soil as well as he isn't goin to push it beyond the limit as he still has a championship to win at home and a crash could derail that, so I'm thinking a conservative 11-9

Check out the pulpmx podcast where they talk to ferris, he confirmed what I said about the tracks in Aus compaired to the US, but hey take it how you want, the tracks in Aus have nothing on the us tracks. Aswell he states he was spent after moto 1 and he didn't over risk it in 2nd moto as he has a championship to win back home

Who would have thought the first podium for Yamaha in the outdoors would come from Dean Ferris? Damn he rode good, and I really hope he gets a ride in the states. Honestly Yamaha should look at putting him on a factory bike alongside Cooper for next year or do they have someone lined up already? I remember reading AP was interested in a 450 deal so that'd be an easy fit there.

Dean Ferris is a mother fuckin' badass!

Yeah he did crash and then he said he didn't want to risk it with a championship at home to win, sometimes when your buggered and after his moto 1 effort he would have been, small lapses in judgement can make you crash weather it's a small tip over or not, you don't need to be pushing it to crash.

Absolutely. He made that bike looking really good in that first moto, the least would be to have a bike for him ready for next races outside the Aussie calendar. I didn't expect that well tbh and not many riders have been showing that pace especially for a 1 time extra race. It is unfortunate his early crash in the 2nd moto didn't help to get a nice OA, but hey, 29 points for the day × 4 races and he would be fighting for the top 4-5 spots in the standings already !

Get him on Febrve's bike. And febrve to Australia to remember how to ride.

Cooper Webb isn't a fan of Ferris at all apparently. I can't recall the exact details, but from memory something happened at Sydney supercross?

Cooper took Ferris out at the mxdn a couple of years ago & then took him out at the Sydney Supercross, I heard Cooper locked himself in the truck because Ferris wanted to kill him Laughing

I bet Deano enjoyed being the first yamaha across the line in moto 1.
Be great if they could work together at Yamaha.

Webb took Dean out in the last moto at the Des Nations in Ernee, while he was in 4th.. Pretty blatantly according to Ferris and I tend to believe him cause of where it was and it crushed one of his radiators and sprayed coolant all over him, so he already didn't like him by the time he pulled that shit in Sydney.. Then when Dean went to have a go at him in the pits Webb wouldn't come out of the rig haha
So yeah it'd be interesting times in the Yamaha rig if they both ended up there next year

Edit: Fuck what stoop said haha

When Dean spoke on the podium after the first moto he said he gave it everthing and didnt have anything left for the second moto so that finish isnt not too surprising even with the crash. Great job in that first moto though.

If I'm not mistaken I believe Matthes did say he was on a pretty stock bike. Brought his suspension etc!! Yamaha needed that for sure.

Have to admit, when I saw everybody getting excited about him coming over I was very skeptical. My first reaction was to get on here and tell everybody they were stupid for thinking he could top 5s and I didn't think he'd even be able to pull a top 10.

But since Cody Cooper and that Rhys kid had done so well I decided to keep my mouth shut and see what happened. Glad I did! Man what a ride.

After all that crying from Chad Reed about the bike, and all the speculation about whatever the hell is going on with Webb, this guy comes out on a non-factory ride, jumps into the middle of the series, jet-lagged, and just puts on a show.

Hats off to him. Can't sleep on these Aussies & Kiwis that's for sure
