Cracks me up that all the "core" people on here defend criticism of our sport by people on this site who are obviously not uninformed casual spectators.

Any business model that continues to ignore complaints is killing the golden goose.

HiPoint is MXSports' baby, isn't it? They can blame Jody for GH or Dirt Diggers for Hangtown but I think the bar is pretty high when it comes to Mt. Morris. It didn't look great to me. The deep tilling seems out of hand imo.

At what point does mother nature bear a good portion of the blame at High Point?

Its my understanding that it poured there. Natural downpours get deep saturation. Even with "flattening" out the track, the moisture level may be too deep to overcome, thus continuing to see the deep ruts form. The track got away from them with some variables that were out of their control. So, to me, they get somewhat of a free pass this weekend.

As for the other tracks that prep knowing the results, no free pass. Its on them.

Everyone jumping to extremes like the OP is saying the track should be smooth as pavement from start to finish.... Did I miss that in his post or something?

There is time during commercials and while the Announcers are yapping before the 30 second sign goes up. It is a National for Christ Sake, they could get more than one tractor. We see it in SX, it's stupid we're even discussing this Podunk crap. If 3 minutes is all they have then do the best you can in that time frame, get it done and give them a sighting lap.

I was there. It was awesome. The 8am practice was a mudfest. They worked the track with multiple machines all day every chance they got. They pushed mud out of the way in the morning and removed ruts all day. By the afternoon they had to water some of the track. I think after seeing the track evolve all day that overall they did a great job.

Any track in New England with some sand starts out as a highway, an hour later they are whooped out with braking bumps 3 feet high. Ruts aren't the only thing that make a track rough.

If rain is in the forecast you don't rip it deep before the rain, you pack it so the rain runs off then rip it before practice.

My opinion. The track looked great today on live stream. The deep ruts are amazing to watch these guys traverse and I think what sets the American nationals a part from any other circuit. Aren't we having one of the most unprintable and exciting outdoors yet?

WatchingThe track progress all day from practice to second motos on NBC gold was fairly impressive. I thought they did a pretty good job but I'm just a big dummy!

I live an hour north of High Point and have raced there many times. It has rained here in southwestern PA everyday for the past week and caused flash flooding in a lot of areas. I think MX Sports did a good job with the amount of rain we received! Luckily for the fans it didn't rain today and the track actually started to dry up for some good racing!

I dunno....I want to see some super rough tracks , but the ruts are getting a little ridiculous.

Maybe it's just my own personal view , but when I myself am in good riding shape , I want the tracks rough......but I can't stand them 200' long , rail road track ruts every where. Once you're in one , you're basically in it all the way through.

That's why I keep saying , that these tracks now days remind me of slot car racing. Rough = great racing......Super rutty= me no likey and think it kinda sucks.

Red bud? It was hard packed, thats why its not anymore. They had to overwater it, to keep the dust down. mud in the morning, dust in the afternoon. I remember guy cooper riding a different bike in the first practice.
These track promoters know what they are doing. they are spending time and a lot of money to keep the dust down and the racing good.

The more creative guys would have more options IMO. I heard the announcers mention that after 2 days of rain they were watering the track between motos to keep the dust down. WTF ? It's a "dirt" bike race. Afraid of a little dust or is this to make it look better for TV? I'm tired of slot car tracks.
With the water trucks that racer productions has the only thing that got sprayed in between moto was the hard pack that had gotten dusty. They weren't out there spraying the soft sections.

It is obvious many of the ones complaining have never groomed a track. With the amount of rain they had I think they did great! You have to look at the soil and the moisture content.

I think it is awesome we have deep ruts on the east and more hardpack in the west, it would suck if all the tracks where the same!
