Hey guys. Been a member for years just never really post. I told myself I was going to an outdoor race this year where I'd never been. Threw names in a hat and picked Red Bud. Any tricks to the trade for that track? How to avoid a parking fiasco etc. cheers

Been many times, Grew up near Redbud, first race I ever went too.
It's Usually hot and humid. Sunscreen and toilet paper can be considered survival items. I usually spent the few extra $ for preferred seating in one of the bleachers areas. We like the one that over looks the valley area after the start. you can see most of the track and if you sit at the top you can also see LaRocco's leap in the back although from a distance.
Redbud is an amazing place race track.

Never been to RedBud but as far as I can tell having plenty of adult beverages is a must

Stay in the shade, stay hydrated, explore the track. Lots of people and several great places to watch the races.
Spend the extra money to get into the pits, it's worth it.

I assume you will be showing up in a rental car and won't have the luxury of bringing a whole lot of gear (coolers, chairs, awning) with you. First of all don't be afraid to get there nice and early in the morning because the place is pristine and fun to take in and it will also make it simpler getting in and parked. They have tons of food vendors and tons of porta cans and even a couple air conditioned trailers in the infield with crappers. The big vendor row is next to the pits and is hopping all day. I don't know what your budget is but the South VIP tent is in an awesome spot and looks like it would be great to call home base for the day if I was coming from far out of town. It includes parking, food, program and pit pass I believe but is very pricey though. The grandstand the one poster mentioned is an option but to me only the top row is worth paying over and above the general admission. Red Bud gets a helluva crowd obviously so even though it is a pretty damn good spectator track it is worth telling yourself that you are going to move around and watch from many different vantage points and work your way right up to the fence when someone moves. Most of all be ready to get swept up in the crowd screaming Redddddddddddddd Buddddddddddddddd!!!!!!!!!! all day Smile

Be afraid of the B side ... be VERY afraid... Evil

Zip-tie your name and a contact number to your body, it'll help the sheriff's in their corral when they drag your blithering semi-consious ass down the hill.

To put a bit of a different twist on this, I went last year for the first time. I'd recently moved to Chicago from the UK so I had no one I knew that would want to go with me, so I rented a car and drove the couple of hours to get there.

I turned up just before things got started (literally 30 mins), I'd probably waited 30 mins in the car in line to get in. Paid for a general access ticket on the gate and I was in. I spent my day wandering around, just me, a camera and fold up chair. I found it fine to get a drink when I wanted, toilet etc.

The track is an amazing location and the atmosphere is worth the experience, even if the REEEEDDD BUDDDDD does get a little old!

You should have been there before there was a "B" side! The early 90's there was insane! I haven't been since 2002, need to make a trip back! Have fun, make sure to check out the leap for at least a few laps.

Been going since the 70's. I quit camping a few years after they stopped letting you camp practically anywhere you wanted. I have seen some crazy chit Wink Back in the day Unadilla, High Point and Mid Ohio were nuts also, in fact Unadilla was the craziest of all.

My advice is to take it all in. Like someone above said, it's about the atmosphere. Look at the people. One year there were guys with watermelon helmets, some people are super drunkened, some have sunburns like you have never seen before, all kinds of crazies.

I've always walked the track and watch from different spots, you will be spent by the end of the day but all worth it.

Try and get in the area for the podium deal, it's packed. The Dungenator sprayed champagne on me and my kid one year.

I love supercross but nothing touches the outdoor experience for me.

Thanks for all the input guys! To me it basically sounds like the same for any other outdoor. Get there early, find the spots you wanna watch before the action starts and people watch

my advice is go Friday and stay the night there.
lots of amateur racing on Friday too and Friday night is what you don't want to miss.
then wake up Saturday (hopefully) and enjoy the day.
seriously, Friday evening is my favorite part of red bud.

If the yelling of Reedbuuuudd gets annoying, you arent drunk enough.
Eventually, everyone yells Redbuuuud.
There is nothing like Redbud.

The atmosphere at Redbud is to motocross what Green Bay is to football.
There's just more drinking at Redbud.
Plus, it's on the 4th weekend.
And there's more crazy people.
There is nothing like Redbud.

This right here^^ 4th of July, everyone is having a good time, one of the most attended if not the most attended national of the year, crazy shit going down everywhere, almost always awesome racing, track that looks like bagdad at the end of the day. Never disappoints for sure.

I was at hangtown this year and it was so quiet at night time I thought it was a funeral. No bonfires, music, nothing. Kinda was taken back after doing Red Bud, Troy, Budds Creek before.

Made the 9 hour trip from MN last summer. It was my first time there, and I certainly plan on going back in the future (MXdN hopefully?). Really nice area, and the track is great. There's no doubt RedBud is probably the most attended event on the schedule, the place was absolutely packed in.

Walk around the track during races to take in all of the track.

Thinking about driving up again this year.

Remember to drink only beer. Water is for chicks and losers. Suns out, guns out....The only way you are allowed to wear sunscreen is if a Monster girl applies it...

Can you bring in your own beer if it is in cans? They do not allow that at Glen Helen so hoping it is
ok at Red Bud. Thanks
