Sounds like four, maybe five people showed up to the unveiling.

i think its sick that they went whit transfer port injection insted of just a standard throttle body with a injector in it. now no one is gonna ride a 4 stroke in off road.

I know, thank God. Who needs all that linkage shit dangling below just to get smacked and busted up on rocks, trees etc.

On my MX bike I love it. But not on my enduro.

Idk why but that was hilarious. Referring to linkage as just a bunch of shit dangling below the bike is definitely a unique way to put it.

pretty amazing that it only gained 5.5lbs with all the stuff that was added INCLUDING NEARLY A LITER OF OIL for the oil injection.

I assume they dropped the linkage to keep the weight low even after adding fuel injection.

This is interesting in many ways, at least from a technological stand point. At some point, companies wiil have to think long and hard about the IC R&D process, and their cost re-coop, with the possibilities of electric coming. Im not making a declaration that electric will take over, yet saying they are a possibility and R&D time cycles have to, at least, be given more attention than recently. In other words, at what time do these companies consider reducing IC advancement, that are usually years in the future, to shift to more electric planning as a possibility? Long term, successful companies, anticipate market changes and adjust accordingly. The market could look very different.

Im not calling anyone's baby ugly, merely making an observation to discuss in a forum format.

I think ride-reviews will be the thing...

They're doing it for the Euro emissions standards I guess but for everyone else there is cost and does it matter.

Can't wait to see ride reports!

Linkage is the dog's bollocks - pretty useful but always dangling there vulnerable

Earlier this year we were told no 300 TPI for America. Only the 250 XC -W TPI for USA and Canada while keeping the traditional 300 EXC. Either the information leaked was wrong, or KTM changed strategy suddenly. Earlier strategy of keeping the old simpler tech in the 300, which I have to believe is one of if not their best selling off road bike in America, made sense. At least until it was proven in the minds of the public.

TPI isnt DI and we still have no word on real world performance or emissions yet. Emissions are huge in CA, if TPi can run as clean as DI there is the potential for a Green Stickered two stroke again. That would be a HUGE KTM advantage IMO. Might convince a few of us middle aged skeptics of technology, cost, and complexity to buy a new two stroke. If it isnt clean enough, I wont be giving up my YZ250 anytime soon.

Not that surprising to be honest. I'm not going to do my rant/theory on this topic, it would be a wall of text haha...

Well anyways, awesome job by KTM as always. Giving the consumers what they want.

I'd definitely like to try it. Hope all the kinks are worked out or it could cost them some

From factory maybe. But with technology comes ability to tune. I bet you can tune the hell out of these.

It often did when the four strokes changed over... 08/09 Kawi is a good example...

I think electric is great, but I think it's going to be a niche market for a long time. Battery technology is going to have to come a long way before it's a viable option for off road riding.
