I agree. Only thing I think is that having Marvin out front allowed Dungey to go faster. He had someone to chase. If Marvin is behind him the whole time I bet Dungey actually goes slower. They didn't really know what happened to Eli so they could both turn faster laps with Marvin out front. He was clearly faster then Dungey tonight.

Agree, I think Marvin decided on his own to pull up and let Ryan by. I'm guessing Marvin and his mechanic have talked about this at length. I have no problem with what Marvin did. I would probably do the same thing for my teammate if we were good buddies.

Didn't Matthes talk about this with Marv a few weeks back? I'm sure I heard him say that Marv told him he would let Dungey by. The orders probably didn't come from KTM. Just a couple bros broing down bro.

No different than Pedrosa and Marquez in motoGP last year. Tomac just needs a teammate that averages finishes better than 9th to help him out.

Valid points. Marv should have just cruised around behind Dunge. Ego wouldn't let him do that and I cant say I wouldn't have done the same thing.

I believe 100% that was Marvins choice. Yes, he wanted to show he was faster, Ryan didn't go away and stayed right there the whole race. Grant did the same thing for Eli but Eli didn't seem to care one way or another. If Grant would have went any slower the last few laps he would have fallen over.

Marvin didn't need to move over... The extra 3 pts add a nice cushion, but Marvin could have won and dungey would still be in fine shape....

And I have watched f1 for over 3 decades... Team orders has always been one of it's biggest and most contraversial downsides... In other sports, like the Olympics, you get banned for not going full bore to the best of your ability.... it is a can of worms best left unopened...

It did appear that way... But I saw it as typical championship mode dungey... In fact, it looked like he really didn't want to pass Marvin at all... Like he didn't want to get that shit storm started and knew he didn't need the extra 3 pts...

I'm not sure why some of you are surprised at this. The history of moto is filled with it. Manufacturers regularly moved guy's into different classes a decade or two ago to run interference. What happened here isn't ideal, but it likely won't matter anyhow.

Marv passed Dungey then made an error on the last lap, even by his own admission.....anything else is just speculation. We don't even know for certain he let him past, never mind team orders, not even close.

Honestly, I think Marvin was in a tough situation. If he wins he's a "bad teammate", but if he loses, he gets it from the fans.
I liked how you put that question, it allowed Roger to give an honest answer without being put on the defensive. I personally think he was unable to make the decision, because he is a racer and a hard ass. He would rather see Marvin get another win even if it lead to losing the championship. What others at KTM feel I have no opinion.

I can understand why Marvin wouldn't want to show up for outdoor training knowing his friend lost the championship by two points.

You guys sound ridiculous comparing F1 to Supercross as if they are even in the same Universe. F1 has tens of millions in prize money down the top 10 . In Supercross, bike manufacturers pay advertising bonuses to their riders for winning races and championships. There is no prize money in this sport.

Marvin will get his win bonus, you can be sure of that. KTM can give him money without any reason. They can simply tell Ryan, were giving your win Bonus to Marvin. Or Ryan can just endorse the check. The AMA has nothing to do with the riders win bonuses or pay structure.

Fans looking from the outside, see it as a sport.
For people in the industry, it's a business. Sometimes those perspectives clash, and that's what we're seeing. Neither is right or wrong, it's just a different perspective.
One thing is for sure, money will always dictate these circumstances.
