Wife hardly ever comes to the track to watch the kid ride let alone me. like seriously maybe 5 times in 10 years. so on this very rare occasion she was there. parked next to us was a guy and a girl maybe early to mid 20's. other than noticing they were young and a male and female I paid them no attention. that was until the female walked over to me and I noticed she was pretty dang hot. wife was sitting in the folding chair complaining about dust or bugs or what ever she could find. the female approached me very shy looking helmet in hand batting her eye lashed and in the sweetest voice she says "can you do me a favor and start my bike, its to hard for me". this got the wifes attention as much as it got mine. not wanting to be a jerk I helped the girl out as she stood there helmet still in hands held in front of her as she gave a little smile shrugged her shoulders and let out a big "thank you so much". feeling good that I had done my good deed for the day I start walking back to my bike. well the wife didn't think it was such a good deed lmao. she still gives me a hard time about it every time she can.
Many years ago I was racing a Provincial series round, I had moved up to the Jr 125 class. For an entire moto I had a green front fender coming into my sight in almost every corner, this rider was giving me everything I could take. It was a really fun race keeping this green bike behind me and I ended up getting the checkers just in front of........HER???!?
This chick with long dark hair flowing out from her helmet and a pink chest protector just about beat me fair and square! Needless to say I was very impressed and gave her a big high five as we were putting back to the pits.
Back in 2006 I was riding 125 Beginner. I was racing saturday nights at a local track. Fun races! Idk if you've ever seen the first mini warriors, but there's a girl in there named Shana Rhinehart. Well she showed up and was racing 125 beginner also. I caught up to her on the last lap and went to black pass he in the last corner. Didn't end up going as planned and I went down while she drug my bike 15 feet. I was so mad at myself. We battled a few more times after that until one night I got the holeshot, she passed me and after the finish line she cross rutted up the face of a jump and broke her collarbone. I don't think she raced or ridden much since that night. She was damn fast though!
Sorry for all the stories, but I've got a couple from being around the sport my entire life

Let's take a poll.. Could you date a girl faster than you? (Not Ricky's case) but let's be hypothetical for the OP's entertainment.
Had a friend I ran with back in the 70's - 80's. We were bad about pulling engine-less vehicles behind a dirt bike or car.
He had his brothers old plastic Big Wheel laying around. I showed up on my 125 Yamaha MX, and we thought it would be a good idea for a little pull riding on the Big Wheel behind the bike. 30 feet of nylon rope should do it.
Hit the local riding spot. He assumes a kneeling riding position. Give him an easy second gear pull for one warm up lap around our little track. There was one small jump on it. First lap , I feel the rope go slack as we roll over the jump. He catches about 8"- 10" of air.
Lap two, I look back to check progress, he is pitching it sideways in the corners, goofing around, and giving me the thumbs up, as to say, upshift, lets go faster.
I clicked into third ,and head for the jump. As I roll over it on the bike, I look back as the mighty big wheel takes flight. About two feet of air this time, with a nice old school cross up thrown in for good measure. It looked bitchen.
As he lands, front wheel still turned, the front end snaps off the Big Wheel, and a gnarly endo ensues. He gets up, grabbing his left shoulder area. Collarbone is pushing upward, bulging the skin.
I had just broken my collar bone a couple of months earlier, and still had the armpit sling I kept. My buddy had no insurance. He climbed on the back of the 125, we rode to my house. Got him cleaned up, put my sling on him, and never went to the hospital. He was doing fine in about a month. We were about 15-16 years old at the time.
One of the fastest, go cart rides I ever went on was on an engine less yard cart , tied behind this same friends 1970 Pontiac LeMans. On a large field of dirt access roads, it was like water skiing at times, as you would sling shot up around the car in some corners. Would actually be looking over at each other, until the cart slowed, the slack in the rope drew taunt, and he nailed the throttle in the car, giving the cart the pull of a 350 V8 with a four barrel carb.
First attempt was with no helmet or goggles, the roost was deadly from the rear of the car. A trip to the house ,helmet and goggs, it was a scary ride after that.
How much time you got?
Short version....me in a high speed chase with cops , and some weird and lucky shit happening.
For the past 18 years I have been scared of that jump. It has been the only jump in Florida I couldn't bring myself to hit. Every time I went to that track I would tell myself I am going to jump that jump today but I never did. They made it easy to avoid by making a slower wimp line next to the real jump and that is the line I always took and I cussed myself for being a puss every time. I knew jump was easier to hit now that ever and the bikes are way better but I just couldn't do it.
I jumped it Saturday. For the first time in 18 years. I swear my pants are tighter where my balls grew back! I'm willing to bet this is some kind of record with historical significance. :-) Or not.

Thanks Bro's.
Diehard Honda guy here, this is the best bike ive ever ridden or atleast tied with my old cr250.
The worst bike ive ever ridden is the same bike with stock suspension.
1200 bucks worth of suspension makes all the difference, i was genuinly shocked that it made such a difference.
Are you guys sensitive to suspension settings? I dont really like my crf450 -17 forks, i was more comfortable with the airforks on my 450 -15...
Lets talk about cars then? My "teammanager" of our small friend-based team used to buy some fun cars and then get bored..
He bought a Mercedes sls a couple of years ago, but i dropped in value like a rock, so he found a little backroad in the woods and set out to trash it and collect the insurance.
He tried it a couple of times to time the right distance to the trees to wreck it but not actually total it completely.
Said and done, he lined it up and put a rock on the gas pedal and put it in auto, but the car weeved to the left and stayed on the road twice the time he had hoped for...
The car hit a tree in about 70mph instead of 30 and the entire car was smashed
He actually managed to climb in trough the smashed windshield, strap in and dial 911 for them to help him get out of the wreck.
They could not for the life of them figure out how he managed to get out without ONE scratch! It succeded though and he got his refund
He then got a Dodge ram srt with the viper v10, which he sank in a river a couple of months later, but he called it in as stolen.
He also payed for a danish prostitute to finger him in the ass whilst giving him head.
Great guy.
Pit Row
We drove right up to the pit fence like we owned the place, and the clueless hired security opened the gate so we could drive right in. Sweet, problem solved! We were now in the pits, and to be fair, a 1971 cargo van didn't look much different than the factory box vans of the day.
We spent the afternoon collecting autographs and stickers, then watched Rick Johnson obliterate everyone on the way to an easy win in the night show. I remember having seen his seat cover earlier in the day and thinking it looked like suede. Weird.
Well, when it was time to leave, we couldn't get back to the van because it was in the privateer pits and we had no passes. No problem, we just sneaked in right around the corner and got into the party. When we saw what was going on, we didn't want to leave anyway! People were drinking, partying, hitting on the Miller Girls, etc. I saw a kid walking away with some plastic and thought "What the heck?" Little did I know.
A few minutes later, I saw RJ's mechanic putting all his tools and stuff away in the box van, then he left a few things right at the tailgate. Stickers, a water bottle, some pamphlets, etc. It was clear he wanted it to all go away. I didn't bother because none of it was up my alley and I had some souvenirs already. I did see the coolest pair of boots I had ever seen standing right next to the motorcycle though - the new Fox Comp 2s that RJ had won in that night. I considered asking for them but I figured there was no way.
A few moments later, I realized the pits were almost empty. It was dark and most of the cars were gone, except this one rental with a huge swarm around it. It turns out some pit tootsie wanted RJ to sign her boobs inside the car, so everyone was crammed around it trying to get a peek. (Me included.) I couldn't see past the bros who were, quite literally, three deep around this car, so after a few minutes I decided to turn around head back to the van. But at that instant, I saw a buddy of mine disappear around the corner of the Honda box van with a red rag dangling over something in his hand... something that had a small alpinestars logo on the heel.
Now, my friend was something of a kleptomaniac, and I knew instantly what had happened. I looked around to see if he was about to get pinched, but nope. He was going to get away with stealing RJ's boots! He had to climb into the box van to get them, so it was ballsy. (Later he told me that some kid yelled, "hey!" and he handed a pair of handlebars to him to shut him up.)
We high-tailed it out of there after that, all the while my one friend in the back of the van clutching his treasure and chanting, "I got Rick Johnson's boots! I got Rick Johnson's boots!"
In retrospect, we all know that stealing from a rider is a pretty dastardly thing to do, and I regret having any part in it. At the time, however, it was quite a rush.
my ex and i broke up about a month before the Vegas SX 8 or 9 years ago, we had hotel and flights booked and everything. i still went to the race with all my friends, she went with her brother and his gf. i saw her a few times at the race and avoided her like the plague (it was an ugly breakup). her brother called me the next day and told me she hooked up with TP199 after the race. yes, i'm serious, she was a 9 on her bad days, and no i don't have pics.
fast forward a couple months and we decided to try it out again. she moves in and things are going pretty well actually, kind of unexpectedly well. anyways, all of a sudden she has Nitro Circus stickers on everything, her car, her mirror in our room, has a picture of TP in her car. i wasn't even mad about it tho, i thought it was pretty badass that i was eskimo bros with Travis Pastrana.
OTHG MMX Sand
Hammer 663s
Before the race, the start guy, Homer, was laughing because the course was beat to death and we were like lambs going to slaughter. There were only 4 guys in the O/40 A class and I really wanted to get the start because, not to disparage anyone, these guys all looked like a bunch of old fat guys (just like me). So, after sizing up my competition I was pretty sure I was going to run the table and I wanted my sweet wifey to think her old man was a bad ass as I rocketed past in first. When the flag went up I got a decent jump and could see only one guy in my periphery. I pushed it hard to the first corner and took the inside. I rounded the corner in first and started clicking gears down the next straight and it was pretty rough sand, like I've been racing in since before my first beer so no worries.
Not having even looked at the next corner since the previous days practice session I barrelled toward it clicking into fourth not thinking that there have been thousands of laps run on the course by motorcycles, atv's and UTV's and that the entry to the corner might be a little rough. When I realized the size of the breaker whoops, not breaker bumps coming into this 90 degree right hander, I half ass tried to wheelie over them but ended up yard selling it in front of everyone as it was just to late to save it, I think the car racing guys call it running out of talent. I jumped up as fast as I could and as small as I felt I somehow was able to fire the 450 back to life and started to chase the three guys that just schlepped past. Thank god for the beach sand course, I was able to walk away remount and catch all of them within the first few miles and grab a gold medal on the day.
Of course as the dad there are no pics of me from the weekend but here is one from my little man. He's still a bit small and not a huge risk taker but he finished third in one of his races so we have a pair of medals from the weekend. Good times.
I've been able to amass quite a few interesting stories over the past several years as part of the GNCC Track Crew and working a number of other events but the ones that stand out to me...
2013 Mammoth GNCC - poured down rain for 2 days. I ended up towing in the entire Factory KTM team. Kailub Russell came up on me on a little dirt road we re-routed the track onto. He was yelling and throwing a fist pump and then his bike blew up right beside me. He coasted about 50 feet and when I caught up, the exhaust literally had a flame coming out the back. He kicked it out, I hooked a tow strap to him and back to the pits we went.
I found Charlie Mullins around 5:30pm. Bear in mind that we reduced the race to 2hr and started at 1pm. They had declined a two earlier and tried to keep his bike running. They had gone to the woods to work on it, then when they couldn't fix it they started pushing and got missed by the sweep crew in doing so. Tony Hall, who works with the KTM team, was exhausted, leaning on Charlie's bike after pushing it up a hill on a road by the golf course on the Mammoth GNCC property. I pulled up, said "you guys ready to tow it now?"
Takeshi Koikeda came walking out of the woods and told me his bike was broken and stuck. He said "we have to push. Over mountain!" And I told him we would just tow it, which he was pretty happy to hear. When we got back to his bike, it was indeed stuck but what makes that wild was the fact that he was stuck on a downhill section!
Also towed 3 bikes at one time that day, which is just as difficult as it sounds. Oh and Tim Cotter was coming out a dirt road and towing guys in with his golf cart!
Last year we were laying out the Snowshoe course and it started raining early in the week. We dropped off the side of a road to see if we could take the track through there and we then spent about 20 minutes trying to get back up to the road. 3 guys on 4x4 ATVs and we couldn't get up this hill. We finally blazed to an old trail and went over a mile out of our way to get out. Needless to say, the track didn't go that way.
Later that week we got more rain and spent a good majority of Thursday sitting in hotel rooms out of the rain. I started getting annoyed because there was still a good bit of work to get done so I suited up in rain gear and took off. I was down off the side of the mountain when I saw probably the brightest flash of lightning I've ever seen, followed by and immediate and super loud crack of thunder... I went about 500 more yards, turned out onto a road and went back to the hotel room.
