That's a shame if they are removing the original one. It's not so much the jump as it is also the corner and run up to it. Without replicating all of that, the "new" leap won't be the same IMO.
My first thought was that they were running two, and the track would be the same layout as 2009

Judging by the #twinningtuesday and the fact that they are a mirror image, I'm guessing they're making an exact replica of the leap, before tearing the original down to make way for something else. It's a shame, because then it won't be Laracco's Leap, just a tribute. Unless they let Mike come be the first person to hit it. Wild guess... they got the 2018 MXDN and these are facility changes to accommodate that?

Unadilla has added the big tabletop by gravity cavity, the downhill jump right after gravity cavity, the skyshot is not even close to natural check out a video from the early 2000s. The jumps right after the skyshot, even gravity cavity got a face lift for more air.

Kind of a joke really. Unadilla was fine the way it was.

I think you are 100% correct. I still don't feel like it'll be the same simply because the corner before was such a big part of the entire obstacle. Now it's just another big uphill triple like every other track.

Just curious of the confusion?!!?

The massive table that use to sweep to the left into roller/whoops then too the long table before laraccos leap.

Has now become:

Massive table>>>>straight-then into (new) massive up hill triple (rather then rollers/whoops). Then a right hand to massive downhill table. >>>>> Left hand again to "laroccos leap".

So the leap is still there..... only thing changed is rollers/whoops section into massive leap agin other wise the same.

I hate to say it but I agree. The layout has gotten vanilla in a lot of ways. Also The vip on the south end takes up a bunch of prime real estate and I was never a fan of the grandstand at the top of the monza turn that you have to pay extra to sit in, the only row worth it is the top one and once again it took away viewing from the traditional spectator. This latest change looks to be more of the same based on first impressions. Don't get me wrong because I love the place and have only missed enough events to count on one hand since the mid seventies and I will be there screaming REDDDDDDDDDDD BUDDDDDDDDDDD!!!!!!! again this year just like always and the thought of the Motocross Des Nations being there next year gives me heart palpitations...lol.

Plenty of room for an extra leap between the table and original leap.

There is absolutely no reason to completely rebuild the leap and move to make space to build new grand stands and remove a section of the track. There is so much room to the right of the leap for updated grand stands if needed. They would move dirt to make a base for the grandstands to the right of the current jump well before they move the most iconic jump on the circuit to a new location and reduce the track footprint. Tim Ritchie is not that dumb.

This^^^ not sure what all the panic is about, they added a section that was there years ago between the leap and the TT. Looks like the sand rollers are gone and you hit the TT opposite of before. Then right do the step down jump and left like usual before the Leap. If anything they are adding new sections in which is good.

It was overdue for a change. Hope they put a 5,000 person grandstand in the infield facing it. And enough permanent restrooms to accommodate. The spectator experience is severely lacking at the national tracks.

I hit the leap. Cased it. But drove 1/3 the way across the country and tried it 4th lap in practice before the national. I can promise you that jump is no joke at all. Any picture of video does absolutely NO JUSTICE!

I did the in field triple back in like 2005 (big Vet Race)... I raced two Vet A classes that weekend. Knew I was out classed when the top three/four guys in +30/+35 were nailing the Leap-

On the way from Texas to Michigan, I was pumping my self up, sayin', I'm doing it, I'm doing it. Then I get there, and reality set in. LoL

It's obvious. Since the MXdN is supposedly going there in 2018, the jump is being torn down and rebuilt in meters/centimeters instead of ft/inches.

I'm with both of you guy's. I never really cared for the rollers (this isn't millville) I loved it back when they landed from leap turned left went over jump turned right by the tree then over the turning tabletop then left heading towards finish line. That was the REAL Redbud along with the in-field triple followed by double double
