Can't believe he trashed it bad enough to need new bone. Gnarliest sport around. Love his positive outlook and good spirits (at least publicly) through this.

He was just super unlucky. Nothing you can do when you hit a kicker like that. Hope it's just as straight forward as a broken bone and there's nothing complicated. Heal up soon Kenny
"I hope it's nothing complicated"

LOL - the dude destroyed his arm and wrist. I'll just make the prediction now - he's done racing. That arm will never be the same again.

I broke my scaffoid same way. A bone graft means he had necrosis (bone died). Very common with the scaffold since it gets poor blood flow.

A severely broken scaffold can be a career ender (ask RJ). He did way more damage than just the scaffoid. All those damaged nerves and tissues will be his biggest issues.

I still can't believe how much damage was done. The compartment syndrome, on top of the initial damage, made things more severe. He's young, appears to have top notch care, and I would assume top notch rehab, so he has a lot of advantages in his corner.

Does anyone know if WADA/FIM/AMA has any restrictions in place concerning injury re-hab and healing accelerants?

I have been saying since his wreck that this is a way bigger deal than what most care to admit. I so badly hope that Kenny can get back to anywhere near the form he was in before the wreck. He will never be 100% again. I do think that at 95% he could come back and fight for titles. Pulling for you man!

He'll be fine next year. As long as the don't cut off his arm it will heal and all he needs to do is reach the clutch with his middle and index finger.

NBD, Kenny got this!
A Rekluse may come in handy for him!

Broken bones are better than dislocations for sure.

I'm pulling for Kenny, but I doubt he'll ever be the same again. I hope he proves us all wrong. Best wishes for quick healing Ken. Could always be worse, he still has a beautiful fiancé, money in the bank, championships, his health and can still ride if he wants to, more to life than racing though we all hate to admit that.

So much speculation in this thread. Wait and see how things turn out guys. Quit trying to write like you know what he actually damaged and the likelihood of returning to sport. As a doc I have zero experience with radial head transplants and I'm guessing non of you do as well. He's in good hands.

WADA has a "Therapeutic Use Exemption (TUE)" which allows the use of otherwise banned medicines and methods in the event of an illness or injury. Kenny surely qualifies. There are still conditions applied but not much he won't be able to take advantage of.

yes, a lot of doctors in here saying he will never be the same again before he has had the opportunity to do extensive rehab....I think he will surprise a lot of people

Interesting. So, it sounds like TUE's can mean different things. There are some options that could possibly benefit healing.

The negativity?? It's gonna take some time, longer than a normal break for sure. But he's gonna be fine.

I have broken my scaphoid and shattered my elbow into 15 pieces with a pulverized radial head and detached elecrinon process nearly loosing my arm. Almost 20 years later neither are the same and give me problems everyday with both arms going numb and tingly after 5 laps... I know I am not a doctor however, I am comfortable saying he will never be the same and more than likely not be able to ride at the level he was IF he comes back from this tremendous injury.

There is wishful thinking and positive vibes and then there is reality.

Well I broke my feet, leaving one to heal after the doctor fixed it poorly it healed dislocated ruining everything from the ligaments to bones and cartilage, it strait up was demolished. The doctors all said no way you will ride again let alone walk, it healed n my heart is what got me back out there racing. Kenny will have more then enough in him to keep going and striving. Say what you want but that kid will race again, he's doing everything right for that one purpose. The doctor knows he's put his name on the line and is willing to do it because he knows he's the best. Positivity boys, you all wanna see him back racing as much as he does and I do.

I tend to agree with your thoughts on this.

I don't play a doctor on TV and didn't stay at a Holiday Inn express last night but it is hard to believe anyone could come back from all of that wrist, elbow, and other damage to their previous level.

still, one can hope.

There's two levels to the Kenny Comeback. Will he come back and race again? I feel like the chances are pretty good. The bigger question is can he get back to the level he was just before the injury? That I am more sceptical of.

Can we all just wait to see what happens in the coming months with the progress of his recovery? Everyone just wants to knock the guy down and say "he'll never comeback", "his arms trashed", etc. Just let it play out the way it going to play out. If he can't ride the same I'm sure he could handle the bike with one hand better than half of you dudes with two. Just let him heal and see what happens.

Me too. I'm impressed with the movement he seems to have in it already. I'm positive about his chances to make a successful come back

I'm with Jeff, can't wait to see Kenny back. Not a matter of "if" but "when".

Side note: Quite impressive how he keeps his fans updated on everything that's going on.

Heal up Kenny!

I've never been a Roczen fan at all, but I hate to see this happen to anyone. That does not look good at all...I hope he can get back to normal and at some point we get to see him and Eli go head to head for a few years.

Damn...looks really bad, I feel for the guy. Hope his recovery goes well and that he can live a relatively pain/complication free life. But as far as racing I'd say he's gardunzo beaned.

I don't have enough information to make any kind of meaningful prognosis. It's apparent he has a lot to overcome, but he's young, has good DRs. We'll see what time reveals. I wish him the very best, the sport could really use him back 100%.
