You do need 2. both Popular Cycling and Modern Cycle.

No, I agree you actually need RacerX and MXA. The Internet will give you what TWMX is good for imo, and I can get my fill of Dirt Rider at the liquor store - usually.

edit; i forgot all about Dirt Bike, wonder why, Maybe because I always thought of them as an enduro or trail bike mag

I just got an offer in the mail for Dirt Rider. $20 for two years AND a free wall clock. I bought it on a whim. Haven't subscribed in years.

TW is my fave tho.

Not sure why so much hate for mxa... they have it all race stuff,interviews bike tests product tests, they may come off a little bias but I think more often than not they say it how it is.... only complaint is they have been doing a lot of two stroke stuff as of late and I'm just over it lol but as a whole I like mxa the best and I think it has the best reread ability

I like free stuff so I vote Racerx. Technically the subscription was free as I received a $25 gift card to Rocky Mountain.

MXA is absolutely head and shoulders above any other magazine. The writing alone makes it better, but the knowledge/expertise and impartiality in bike reviews are absolutely second to none. Other magazines just go with whoever advertises the most, ESPECIALLY racerx and the smaller mags. MXA is the only mag that I ride a new bike, read the article and say "yep that's exactly what I noticed."

It's not even a comparison. MXA is so much better. I also like Transworld for various reasons. RacerX is a joke to me. They also contribute to a lot of rumors and drama llamas which doesn't help anything.

The fact that so many people here like RacerX says a lot

Just my opinion/2 cents worth. MXA is my favorite. Been subscribed for over 30 years and do not really see any favoritism. They just call it like they see it. Second is Dirt Bike because I'm more of an off road rider. Third, Racer X. To me it's more of a life style type of magazine and I guess I'm not much into what my favorite riders music taste is. Dirt Rider is horrible, and Transworld is right there with it. To each his own I guess. Get a one year subscription to each and you'll have 12 issues of each to form your own opinion. After the year is up, cut loose the one (s) you don't like.

I started two subscriptions last year, Racer X and Dirt Rider. I feel like both have way, way too much ads. I sometimes feel like i'm browsing an Parts Unlimited catalog.

I guess that the advertisers make it possible to keep printing magazines but less is more. I'm not going to renew any of them.

Don't get it either.
The sprocket joke was pretty dumb in the first place and is really getting old...
All of you always stick with the stock gearing?
Sometimes you gotta wonder if people ever open the mag, as it's filled with very interesting and insightful tech stuff.

I have subscriptions to both MXA, RacerX and Dirt Rider and I'd say they're very different and choosing one really depends on what you're looking for.
MXA is a lot about bikes and tech, RacerX has more of a magazine approach about people, events and history, and though Dirt Rider is getting pretty thin, they have interesting article ideas you don't find elsewhere and they don't limit themselves to motocross, if you're interested in off road, trials or adventure bikes...
To me, MXA and Racer X are totally different and quite complementary.

Love all of them really, but RacerX is the best. Although, RacerX has a surprising number of grammatical and layout errors that make it to press. I think I have what they need to take them to the NEXT LEVEL!! DM me Davey and we will talk comp, relocation, etc....
