How about J-Mart on a 450 at Daytona?

I think JMart on Roczen's 450 is a great move...although I think he'll have some issues, perhaps arm pump and the like. If all goes well though, I can see him doing top-10. He's sure got the talent, just think he'll need a lot more experience on the bike in racing conditions than just a one shot at Daytona.

I see Jeremy doing very well at Daytona. Top 6. Any other SX, not so much right now.

Pumped for JMart - he did win last year on the 250...
He has the speed in 250 but those starts tho...
He reminds me so much of RC when he rides...

I am glad for Jeremy to get this chance, however, as much as I would like to see him do well, I doubt it will go well based on his performance over the last year.
His actual performance hasn't even been shown yet. He has been laying in the first turn at every main he has done and had to come back from dead last.

Are you saying the start is not part of racing? He has been very inconsistent for almost a year already. A riders performance is judged from the drop of the gate until the checkers.

I like the guy and want him to do well, but I am not blind or naive to the results. Just the same as I really like Craig and want him to do well, he has blown it the last 12 months. I actually would rather see Craig on Roczens bike though.

You'd have to be higher than that to think Martin will be on the podium at Daytona his first time on a 450. You can "claim it" all you want to.

Maybe Craig will make an appearance at some west coast rounds on the 450 now that his season is in the crapper too. For now he will be sticking with his 250 East obligations.

I think it was made plenty clear last summer why he was inconsistent. It seems he was back to 100% before this SX season though, so judging him harshly now has some merit.

For whomever said Mookie beat him last year, Daytona may be a poor example as last year Martin tracked him down the entire race, Mookie stalled, then straight-up looked tired as he faded to third. J-Mart has what 4 or 5 250 SX wins, Mookie, 1 or 2? I will bet any takers, aside from a DNQ/DNF for EITHER guy, J-Mart beats Mookie at Daytoner. We'll have to bet "tokens" of course since "real bets" are not legal on here. Wink 25 tokens sounds good to me...
J-Mart has been the fastest qualifier this season a couple times and has had enough crap luck (Bowers bike bitch slapped him right off of his!), leading to a concussion and poor starts every race, that he is definitely not showcasing his SX skill, yet, this year. He will do great on the 450. I watched him spank a little known guy named RC in 2012 in GA, at a LL area Q. Granted RC was retired, but c'mon, J-Mart was 19 riding the POS 2012 YZ-450... It was still really fun to watch. BTW, Savatgy got smoked by both in the same race, along with a then blazing fast Zach Bell, who ended up dominating the class (450 Pro Sport), on a 250f, at LL in 2012, and had the fastest lap of the week. If you're wondering, RC made the decision that day to only race 25+ at Lorettas...

I'm going 10-14 place. He needs a good start. Jmart is a 250 specialist and I think he will struggle on the 450 overall. Very interesting to see how Webb's and Martins careers have gone. Webb has excelled enough on a 450 to be captain of our MXDN team and was a lap away from bringing home the title. Webb has a podium this year on 450 in his rookie season. Very highly doubt that Martin will ever reach that on a 450. We shall see though. Martin reminds me a lot of Lamson who was a monster on the 125's but really struggled on the 250's. The book isn't written yet so should be exciting either way.

Jeremy should do better when he comes back to 250. 450 experience and back on the proven engine package

Didn't RC not qualify? Thought he has issues in the A class races.

JMART needs to get his starts figured out. If he can do that, he will be a force in the 250F and 450F class. His starts are worse than Canard's starts

I hope he can have a good result in Daytona, he needs it.

Unfortunately they don't give any points for qualifying and heat races Wink

But i have to give him props, way faster than i thought. But he was also the fastest in west SX most of the time but couldn't get top 5 finishes in the mains. Lets wait and see what he does in the actual races!

I disagree TX. Not because I think I know better. I think we don't have enough information to make the assessment that he's a "250 specialist". We simply haven't had the opportunity to see if that is true. Martin Davalos is truly a 250 specialist. Maybe JMart is too (I don't think so). I think JMart is a different tier of talent than Davalo and will be jussst fine. Again, I'm also speculating.

I was under the impression that Geico hired him for a shot at winning the 250 outdoor title so I'm not sure they would let him jump to 450 nationals

I'm sure you're right but I thought maybe factory Honda had some pull over Gieco and could poach him if they thought he had a shot.

I agree, qualifying doesn't necessarily get you #1 plates.

J-mart was expected to go good at Daytona on the Honda. Here's from a year ago:
