Over 40 class at Monster Energy Cup?

What do you think about adding an over 40 class to the Monster Energy Cup race in October? Lots of retired ex pros still want to race serious but get criticized when they race Loretta Lynn Amateur National. Seems like a perfect fit with the age restricted classes.

I actually like that a lot, but call it the Legends Class. Lotta egos on the line, probably not enough entrants. How do you entice the riders to race it, competitively, but not yard sale themselves?

No, they're pretty scary too. Both class would be good for more than a few whiskey throttles!

I don't know too many 40+ guys (even ex-pros) who would jump on an opportunity to race on that track after not doing SX in a long time.

Outdoors is a better venue for this

Not just over 40. But a legends race with MC, RC, Emig, DV, maybe guy cooper in there, windham, see if stefan everts would be down, and whoever else would be EPIC! Maybe Bubba lol

Make that a million dollar race and you might have one of them ready for an A-1 comeback! Lol

I think it would be a great idea from a fans perspective. Would be great to find a way to keep it safe. Doing it for outdoor MX might be safer. If for SX, I would eliminate any long woops section.. that is where you get hurt easily and not so fun to watch anyway. It would be even more fun if they were all on 250 2T's!

Monster Cup doesn't have whoops. The track is very tamed down, given that amateurs and superminis are racing it. In the department of "don't get too gnarly and explode yourself all over national TV", I'd trust a bunch of 40+ legends before 15 year old up and comers.

This would be awesome. For ex card holding pros only and given that a bunch still ride on the regular I am more than certain that they could navigate the Monster cup track just fine as do the super mini's. To say someone like Bradshaw would struggle on the MEC cup track or be "sketch" is absurd!

Agreed. Although, Windham turns 39 in a couple days... if it means we get to see KDub spin some more laps on a SX track I'm in.

Over 40 class? No. More dangerous than super minis? Considerably. Legends race? Maybe.

Yep 'Super Senior' class sounds like fun, any type of bike (250,350,450, 2/4 stroke), maybe even make it 'Over 50'?

Make them all ride 125s and wear retro gear then you have my vote.

Should be any pro that scored in the top 25 of any season that's been "retired" from both SX or Outdoors for more than 5 years.
That would be fun enough.

Frank is retired, I picked up a new TC 250 last fall. I've actually been riding somewhat consistently lately, but not as big a fan of jumping as I was 15-20yrs ago, lol!

Keep it over 40; but, make MC & Jeffro ride 125s to keep it fair.

Editor's note: MC will need to ride a "Mitch Motored KX125/2017 KX250F chassis" to keep it fair against Jeffro's FC125 Works-Bike.

I'm jus' sayin'...

Not very wise on the part of the old pro riders, since injury could be very possible. Most fans in the crowd would not know who the old pro guys are. It would be a good time to piss and get another beer for most young fans, except for us die hard Vital MX fans. A 125cc class would be very bad ass at the MEC race. A 125cc class would kick ass in all of the series indoors and outdoors. Just ask the fans, they want a 125cc class. It would be very exciting racing with a lot of passing, like racing should be, and it would not cost a fortune for the riders to race that class.

Haha....well call me crazy.....but I'd fucking do it! I'm not a retired pro ( Half way descent INT ), but it would be a blast to do some laps on that track. And I'd be doing it on a TC 250 too! God damn that sounds fun!
