Jim Holley seems like a nice guy, but his lack having a even a mediocre broadcast voice or any broadcast skills is painful to listen to. He regularly pronounces riders names wrong and brings little insight to the program. Am I the only one that finds the broadcast much better with the volume off?
How would anybody know what EVERYBODY else thinks? But I will say this...I think the opposite as you!...accept for the "nice guy" comment.

You shut your anti-American-hero-mouth!

Gentleman Jim is 100% awesome and for the opportunity of him being interviewed over and again by various podcasts so that we may bathe in the incredible stories he has, is reason enough for him to keep that jobby!

Most of you seem to agree he's a cool dude. I'll stand by my sentiment that he's not skilled enough to host Supercross Live and a more qualified replacement would go a long way to improving the broadcast and reflect better on the sport.

If anyone earned that job, Jim Holley has earned it and know exactly what he is talking about.

I like Jim's insight, and although he stumbles bit, I'd take him anyday over Ricky.

I'd take Windham over all three. KW was awesome for the race or two that he did after retiring and I was hoping he would land a job on TV.

Holly was great calling the live race far before the SX live day show when the night show was audio only years back etc...
I think he's more laid back and reserved with the live day qualifying show now,but he still does a great job.
I dont think there's a better guy for the job, always great insight and love to Jim's options & predictions.

On a side note..
Him & Weigandt together were a great duo for announcing/calling the race.

They both do. Great guys, but not good commentators.

The vital crowd is a loyal bunch to Gentleman Jim. I'm glad you can all tolerate his lack of ability better than me.

Jim may have earned the opportunity and has the background and knowledge, but he certainly does not have the skills to keep the gig in my view.

Well then you must be pretty new to listening to him. His positives far out weigh the negatives in the broadcasts. Every single dude in this thread just disagreed with you on this , so maybe you're missing something? Jim has a huge history in this sport , and anyone who has been around long enough , appreciates him in the booth. Yeah , he stumbles on words......which I would take any day of the week , compared to some fast talking sports announcer that knows complete jack shit about this sport , and reads everything off que cards. Jim is the real deal.

Not at all, I've been trying to accept his bumbling vernacular for years now. Every time I tune into RDL, I'm excited to watch the program only to be annoyed by his lack of skills and inability to bring anything valuable to the broadcast.

Again, I can appreciate his knowledge and achievement in the sport...but even if a bunch of the forum rats disagree with me I'm comfortable in being the unpopular voice on this subject. RDL could and should be so much better than it is. Jim is anything but the real deal when it comes to being a commentator.

Obviously you enjoy watching RDL for a very different reason than everyone else in this thread; I wonder what it is.

"Jim is anything but the real deal when it comes to being a commentator.".......You are, in fact, wrong about that! We watch him commentate every weekend. You can say you don't like him, but that doesn't make it ok to just lie or call people who do appreciate him, "forum rats". Hell, in another thread someone said he wanted to throw an empty beer bottle at Emig. What kind of SX fans are you people?

I like Jim and think we are lucky to even have the show to watch practice. Not sure why Ralph and Jeff commentate the 2nd round of practice.

I love Jim

I worked on radio for a few years, and it was alwats hard making people lose their "self awareness" of the fact that people were listening to them talk. Jim has the same awkwardness sometimes. It eventually goes away with practice.

Holly has his own style and it works. This is not an easy job and if you're looking for a world class color guy for this spot they are not lining up for the position.

Same with Ralph and Jeff, not easy jobs, and who other than someone passionate about the sport would take the job with the idea of making it a long term deal.
