Lap chart has him loose a spot to Reed on lap 7 then on lap 14 he drops 10. Not sure if you can call that...

Probably swapped in a corner, he was sliding a lot during the heat so I imagine he did in the main as well.

Typical Stewart ride. Fast in practice, decent heat race. Sucked in the main.

I think he will get better each week. Let's not remember Webb wasn't hot at the start and he just pulled a 4th.

He's got the speed but fishing instead of doing the outdoors doesn't really help fitness wise. Time to hit the gym. From a 250 title to 18th or whatever in 450s isn't really a good look.

I think it was a decent night for his first race in quite a while in the US. Second in the heat. Decent start in the main but yeah, went from 10th to 20th in a hurry. Probably a mistake. But still, he will get in race shape and go from here. Speed is pretty much there, just needs to work on endurance and limiting mistakes. Bike looked pretty good with very little testing.

He had a small crash at the end of the whoops and was pretty beat after that. Before that, he was going a bit backwards. When he fell though, there was like five or six guys within a section of him, so they all passed him as he was getting going again.

He killed it for a first race on a bike he's ridden less than a week.
He had solid 3 weeks on that bike.

Big difference between an 8 min +1 heat race with half the fast guys vs a stacked field in a 20 +1 main ain't it? Wink

SX sucks glad there is the NFL! And can't wait for F1! The only way Dungey doesn't win this championship is if riders start getting physical with him kinda like bump and run! Back in the day When Stanton, Emig, RJ, RC and JS7 would get physical with each other! I know everyone remembers JS7 and Reed in 09 I'm not saying take him out but damn! In a Simi last night I think it was shmidt he literally moved over so Dungey could get by WTF was that! No way I'm pulling over to let him by it's a race pass me when you can!

He showed great speed in the heat, 13th position round the start according to the ticker. Passing up to 2nd does not suck.

It was a bad look...For whatever a rider's reasons might be, it NEVER looks good to quit on the track. He was rolling everything in the main, and watching it there live, he was very conspicuous because there was a rider out there that obviously gave up...And it looked BAD...In the sad, pathetic way...Attention for all the wrong reasons.
Quitting like that is bullshit...no excuses why you gave up. PULL OFF...Or battle with honor for 15th place, if that is all you got to give that night...At least you are in mix that way and are part of the action out there...Instead of an eyesore.

I like your optimism with regards to F1, I see that being another one manufacturer walk over depending who gets it right on the regs change.
As for the racing, there is definitely more of a 'no contact sport' mantra going around which is why we see riders and fans react the way they do when there is any hard racing (ala Anderson Friese)

I have never been a fan of James Stewart but I have always been a fan of Malcom Stuart their heads are in different places James is more out there and Me me me and Malcolm has his head down he's focused he's a lot more humble and he just wants to race and he wants to prove himself he doesn't go out there with a big head

Man , Malcolm was at the right place , at the right time. Not sure if he calculated it that way , but when he moved into 2nd with a block pass , which that rider blocked Musquin and everyone else behind him haha. The timing was pretty dang perfect. In the same heat Freise jumper right in front of Anderson and then it took him and Musquin down. Malcolm showed a lot of heart in that heat race!

That entire heat race had me sitting on the edge of my couch....saying " Holy shit ".....haha. And to top it off , the Anderson / Freise exchange in the tunnel....another " Holy shit ".

Youre right with all of that. I got all over friese about that move but after watching the replay it didnt look too bad. It looked like he was going to try and put a block pass back on mookie but mookie was gone and the next rider right there was anderson.

It wasn't just the same heat, it was the next corner and a direct result of Mookie's pass on all of them. It was a masterful piece of racecraft and track position by Malcolm in a class where everybody assumes passing is near impossible. He went right through the field like a boss.

Are James Stewart and Malcolm Stuart related?

Took the words rights out of my mouth. Whatever he's been riding is going to be completely different with an actual race engine. Why try to discredit his ride?

Timed SX races are the worst thing ever for Mookie. He has never been one to be in the best shape.

Speed is not the issue here. 20+1 has already proven to up the ante in terms of fitness, skill, and concentration. The track breaks down more, and the tracks obviously have the potential to bite someone more as well. A bit more like the outdoors in that if you haven't done your work it is a tough pace to sustain. The question is does a guy show up without ideal prep just to get out and show good intentions, or does it do a disservice in a way if the anchor goes out hard in the main? A chicken/egg question and I don't know the answer. The only thing is that if Malcom had full intentions of racing sx as he has stated throughout the off season, why wouldn't he have more in the tank for the main? He did some off season races to stay busy, make some cash, and to prove he was worthy of a ride. If he could have hung in there to finish in the top ten (clearly he has the speed to do it), that would have demonstrated he was pretty ready for battle. And it would have been very impressive to boot.

No doubt that he will improve as the season goes on but huge gains in fitness don't happen in a week or two. He did show up betting on himself and it took a huge effort to get this whole thing together, so you have to give it up to the guy for this.

It's a lose / lose situation. If you don't show up because you aren't prepared, you will get shit on. If you show up unprepared and don't do well, you will get shit on. If you get hurt, you will get shit on. I think you see where this is going.

Is there some type of Stewart posting payroll you(guys) are on?

And what's this about unprepared? He took off to prepare specifically for 2017 SX
season, He raced the in off season. He's not off the couch.

Also, considering all the Mookie fans said he deserved almost everybody's ride, a lil'
backlash for finishing 19'th, well 18'th since Ken went down, doesn't seem so out of
place here.
