What is it about the Suzuki platform that makes people think it's not competitive? You can throw out HP and suspension because both of those would be built to spec. There have even been threads about "detuning" factory 450s to make them more ridable. They can shave weight through various methods. I can see it on a trail bike as you are frequently stopping and checking things out or resting. On a finely tuned MX racer, at any level, this should be pretty irrelevant. The weight would be an issue, but a serious level pro team could easily shed 15-20 pounds off the bike. The Twisted Tea 250 bikes often got good starts, so power could be had. I’m still not out on him yet. I think there are a lot of tight, east coast tracks where the whoops breakdown still to come. If we get out there and he is still in 6-8th then I’d really worry.
