Webb??? Will Yamaha ever get a win?

Don't want to bash him in his first 450 SX...So Is that bike a product of magazine hype??? I never really thought it was that good. Seemed heavy, wide, awkward, seat to tall, foot pegs to high, and can't turn worth a shit. Its fast though. Barcia was clearly not comfortable on it. I feel like the magazines fed everyone bullshit since 2014, and this year they got it right with Yamaha is a 5th place shootout bike! Or did Webb just get a wake up call? Hope I don't piss off the Yamaha die hards to much, just my opinion.

It is a proven bike outdoors, the GP results has proven that(although they can actually modify the bike way more than in US racing). And it won the DirtRider shootout, although that was the only magazine that had the Yamaha 450 even in the top 3 if i remember right? I guess they are high over there Grinning But i agree with you on that i do not understand where the Yamaha hype comes from. I can see it and understand it when it comes to the 250 but not the 450. The 450 is heavy, bulky, wide and has average turning. It has a good motor but so does the KTM/Husky and Honda.

Webb will probably be fine. But the bike and his riding did not look good at all. Very stiff and conservative.

I can tell you the YZ250f is pretty awesome but the lack of reasonable US success on the 450 really makes you question the 450.

Webb looked super uncomfortable on it last night..which is exactly what Barcia and Peick looked like. Ironically throw the last two on an RMZ which is the "old heavy pig" and they look comfy.

At this point a new Yamaha 450 should be out soon right?

Was just thinking about how ironic it is,

When that bike was built it was all about mass centralization etc...

It's now known as one of the heaviest hardest to handle bikes made. Who gives a fuck bout the engine either when 3 other 450s match it and turn like 250s comparitively.

Interesting to see what they do now, new bike next year!!!

Regarding Emig and RC's comments on rookie seasons, RC sure put Jeff in his place, ha! Didn't throw him under the bus like Taft did Davalos, but it was still surprising.

He pointed it out a lot because he was one of the guys who was expected to really feature near the front, and to be honest, he was nowhere near. He only made into the top 10 because of Reed's DNF and crashes in front of him, he was only 2 straights away from getting lapped at the end.

Remember, Yamaha didnt pay as much as you think for Webb. Webb probably signed too early and could have held out for more bucks.

So because a pro didn't perform well in SX the bike blows? That always cracks me up.

I've ridden all the 2017 bikes (minus the Honda) and I'm very satisfied with my YZ450F. For amateur MX it's a fantastic bike. I'm 6' tall and it's the first bike I've ever had that doesn't feel cramped. Does it have its flaws? Yeah, but I like it more than the 17 KTM I rode.

I really liked the 10 laps I was able to put on a yamaha 450 2016, with me being big (not fat lol) I did not have a problem with it feeling too big.

Yeah, all the mx magazines got together to promote the Yamaha 450. You pretty much lost me after this claim.

After all the examples of guys winning and losing on many different bikes some of you brainiacs still think the bike makes a big difference. Amazing

As I recall, the Dirt Rider test editor is employed by Yamaha as a test rider. Conflict of interest?

I personally want to see Webb do very well and I believe he will sooner or later, but the top 5 in America (top 3 especially) are super talented and will take time to catch. Cooper has lots of talent, but only time will tell if he can compete against the top 3 for championships. It's a tough challenge. When he's on, KRoc may be the most talented dude in the world and Dungey and Tomac are both very close.

Cooper looked too small to be on that bike. Yamaha's 450 bike suits a different body type.

Have you actually rode the bike? It cracks me up how many people bash the YZ but have never ridden one. Yea the 10-13's were bad but the new ones are great bikes. Handles perfectly fine, has the motor, and suspension.

With Factory Yamaha I would like to think they could make a great bike in stock form a lot better with their resources.

I just saw him riding very conservatively but the could be due to many factors. HE will pick some top 5 by the end of the season.
