Vital MX Poll: Will Ryan Dungey win his third straight Supercross title in 2017?

12/25/2016 10:19pm
I voted yes b/c I think Dungey will be the most consistent over 17 rounds. Even staying in the top 5 every weekend in this field wins the title. Assuming everyone shows up at A1 to start anyway.

Unfortunately for Ryan, I think he will be playing second fiddle to Roczen, as he did when Villopoto was racing. As long as Kenny makes it to every round, he'll be the champ. Kenny has had Ryan covered by a good margin for most of 2016. I wouldn't be surprised if Dungey wins another championship, but I voted "No" in this poll.

Even McGrath couldn't pull that off. Almost did, but just came up short. No way in hell Anyone will ever pull off a perfect SX season. I'm not a stamper, but that one I will stamp.

Your probably right. Getting a good start for 17 rounds would be impossible, although I think Dungey started top 5 in most races this year

3peat is going to be hard, but I voted yes. If for nothing else, because I hope Dungey puts that cocky arrogant 94 in his place and back to making excuses for losing just like he did in 2015 and 2016.

Of the championships they have both competed in, Roczen has come out on top once. I want to believe we are in for a good fight this year, but my gut says Dungey will win again.

I think the battle is between Dungey and Roczen for sure. Dungey is hard to beat because he's so smart, he's extremely fast, gets good starts and hardly makes any mistakes. He is getting a bit older, although I dont think that plays a factor in his case. He missed most of the outdoors which I believe took away from his momentum and confidence because he had to watch Roczen gain a few steps on him without being able to do anything about it. Roczen has the mometum, confidence going forward. He should be getting the new bike dialed in by now (it didnt look too bad at monster cup), but he is prone to making those mistakes that could cost him a few spots or even a whole race, and when he makes them, you can count on Dungey to benefit from them. All in all, I think Roczen has it together enough this year to win the title, Dungey is a close second with Tomac a distant 3rd. Seely, Anderson, Musquin, Webb, and possibly Canard battle for whats leftover and possibly an occasional win. Going to be one of the best SX seasons in recent years!

I'd have to go back to know for sure but I feel like the same things were being said about Dungey this time last year. To say Roczen has had Dungey covered is a little crazy to me considering Dungey beat him for the title and then got injured at round 3 of the outdoors. Yes Kenny was better and probably would have won that title but no doubt Dungey would of won some races and made it closer than it was. The problem for Roczen and the rest of the competition is to beat Dungey you have to be even more perfect than him, which is a big ask.

Kenny was great at Monster Cup but he also crashed out and if he does that at one race during the season he can kiss the title good bye, you know Dungey won't do that. I also think we'll see Roczen struggle with the bike especially when they go east. I'm sure it's easy for him to test on the hard pack tracks of California and then go ride on the concrete that was the Monster Cup track. Sure he can go to Florida and ride some softer dirt there but there is nothing like racing.

I said no. If he wins it won't be by winning motos. He'll win if Tomac, Musqun, and Roczen either split too many wins or have bad luck, and he just stays on the podium the whole season. I'm not sure he can muster the blind speed of Roc and Tomac.
