I think RV would be a good addition to the broadcast if he came out of his shell a bit. Might make some people angry though.

I gotta admit, that Stewart one was funny. Heard that one a few times!

Go back and watch some Eckman races and youll notice he says "They're bar to bar!!" every single chance he gets. Its kind of annoying.
I enjoy those lines. Another one of Art's is "they're rubbing plastic"!

Larry Huffman had some great quips as well. Lol. His Mike Tyson line was always funny.

Erm it might just be me but if you setup a drinking game where you took a shot every time Jeff says "I'm tellin' ya" there would be a LOT of wasted people

Ralph has his negative things but to me he seems enthusiastic and fairly knowledgable for the role he plays, which isn't the expert in the booth. Be careful what you wish for if you want him replaced because other sports have spent years trying to find people with half the ability Ralph has. I mean, you only need to watch the F1 coverage NBCSN to see, they have a studio full of people that have zero idea what they are talking about or are far past the point remember what it was they WERE talking about

Ricky did a great job riding a motorcycle...I would argue that he does a less than sufficient job announcing races...
I'm not sure you preparated properly.

I like Ralph. At one time I wished Weege would take his spot but the last couple years Weege has been real stale during nationals. I like the fact Ralph gets in to it and sounds excited.

I think Ralph is good. But he needs better backup from Emig.

Either Emig steps up his game or get someone else for the expert role.

how about when RC tries to notify Emig that a pass is about to occur, as if only the GOAT could anticipate the event? he'll stop Fro mid sentence to let him know it's coming up, so they should all have an awkward moment of silence and watch it happen...

Windham is 10 times better than RC on camera or in the booth.

I think Emig's story is quite remarkable. The irony that he has a speech impairment
and goes into a career using his voice is interesting. Not on topic, but his name came up and it made me think about this video.

RS: "Now Ryan...On the 3rd rhythm lane after the start there's a quad. We just watched Eli do it in his heat race. You didn't jump it. What do you say to that?"

RD: "I know which one you're talking about Ralph and I actually don't think it's that much faster..."

RS: "Ryan, we have it on camera, it's much faster. We can show you the film if you want."

RD: "Well my team timed it and it's really not any faster, Ralph. Thanks though."

Then there was the time he said this:
"In the world of professional motor sports, the athletes that compete in Monster Energy Supercross are some of the most courageous daredevils on wheels; risking everything as they launch themselves over humongous triple jumps and blast across massive whoop fields; in a quest for racing glory. If this is a real quote, are we seriously going to ignore this post?? Laughing Laughing Laughing I'm sure this kind of stuff is written for him, just part of the pay check... but still hilarious either way

We definitely forgot to "DROP THE GATE!" on this one. Probably all focused on lighting the candles over that final triple-jump.

People bag on Ralph for saying stuff like this and other stuff that seems really dumb.

What most people who complain about him fail to realize is that he's not announcing for the hard core fan who already knows everything about the sport.

His job is to help new fans or someone who is flipping through the channels and stops on the race understand what's going on. When he says "Tomac's coming up fast on the green bike or Reed's on the blue bike" it's because a lot of the viewers don't know what colors the different makes of bikes are. If he said Tomac's on the Kawasaki or Reed's on a Yamaha viewers wouldn't know what he was talking about.

Most of the television viewers are from the "Monster Jam" crowd. They have no choice but to dumb down the announcing.

Say what you want Ralph is okay in my book. In a related story this years MEC was great without Lurch's screaming.

EDIT rrjr-Nail hit squarely on head. Great post.
