He was so bad ass back in the day. In 04 at Atco him and friend of mine were gapping from this double out to a table top that was like 70 ft down the straight away. On 125s. When they were like 15 or something like that. Like people have said, to see the stuff he would do in person was just absolutely ridiculous. He was the benchmark. Legend. I'll keep most of stories I heard to myself but hanging out with him at Lorretas in 03 was fucking nuts. I thought we were getting beat up 40 times, the audacity was incredible he would say anything to anybody.

I understand your point. Lechien was always known for his raw nautral talent (and still is). By reading the posts in this thread, people that watched him grow up have mentioned his high level of talent. Regardless of why or how, they both were known to be controversial yet be super fast.

I think one of the Big things separating Dogger and Lawrence, is the family backing / network.

You think Lechien would be in the position he is in , in Maxima, without his Father? This is no dig at Ron, more like a acknowledgement of the strength and opportunity that a supportive family can give to you.

I think a very large amount of the riders that are still near worshipped by many here, would be seen in a far lesser light by many of said worshippers if their career would have happened in this unrelenting, all showing / discovered, social media times we now live in.

It's funny that people still can't get their head around the idea that he decided he didn't want the life that went with being a professional rider.

Certainly was a character and a great talent on a bike, anyone that can ruffle the feathers of RV and Dungey gets a nod from me.

Amazing when someone is that fast on a motorcycle that he can be a disrespectful punk and people still find a way to make him a hero of some sort. Let a 10th place guy pull the crap Jlaw did and see how people react. Bunch of nut huggers because the guy could win races. He is a loser with a capital L. Just my opinion of course.
Saw him take/steal Mitch Paytons mule at Millville and drove it 30 miles an hour through the narrow and heavily crowded pit rows and then jump in his rental and do the same thing getting out of the pits. Could have easily seriously hurt or killed a kid/adult stepping/riding outside his pit.

Only met him one time at Elsinore at an Oldtimers race of all things. He was there practicing on the main track. Some guy wadded and I wound up sitting next to him for about 15 minutes while the emt's were busy. Cool and humble as any guy I've ever met, it was like talking to one of my kids friends. I have nothing bad to say about him. Yes he didn't live up to many peoples expectations. good thing he doesn't care. I'd buy him a beer in a second. We can't all be heroes.
