Here's a clip that is a little further away and shows how gnarly it really is.

Such a great clip. I love watching his right foot during the slo mo part!

Like others, I just can't figure out how that is slower? Perhaps a different/slower rhythm required for the set up?

If you watch the video on the homepage (that guyb posted), Eli says it was slower because of the entry/setup into the rhythm section.

Crazy it was slower, they must have really been flattening out that last jump by wheeling into it after 3-3-3.

That's one hell of a leap for a supercross track.

In my opinion, if you have never seen a supercross live and up close then you really have no idea how knarly it really is! It looks hard on TV, but it looks tame on TV compared to seeing it live. I have nothing but respect for anybody that qualifies for a supercross main! Good to see Eli riding so well after coming back from his shoulder injuries.

They should have gotten rid of that sand section and just thrown in 150 yards of rollers lol. Maybe Tomac could repeat his Daytona performance.
Joker lane: Vince Friese pissed off on a work quad.

How in the hell would that make a lap .5 of a second slower? That was freakin' intense!
Rear wheel on the ground propelling you forward is faster than being in the air. You ever wonder why scrubbing and staying low was invented?

To get the power back on the ground quicker.......

Plus the rythym section jump sequence he used (to set him up for that jump) seemed slower too. Regardless, awesome jump!

It was amazing to see, Eli has so much skill on a bike, always been my favorite thing about seeing him ride... but noticing how close he was to the other rider on one landing, plus the time loss, moves just like this aren't always worth it indoors.

However, I would love to see more track designs that have quads or certain step ups that only a few riders can actually pull off, that equate to a tangible advantage in time vs other options.

That would be a step forward for racing I think. Just tease the guys who can do it with the reward of time savings and we'll see some more exciting racing over the night I think.
