Good point. I rarely try real hard, especially because I have a long term contract.

Obviously you don't know me, I've been cheering for Dean Wilson to get a Kawasaki ride but I don't think his finishes are going to help the size of his contract if he gets a contract with anyone. My guess is he will have to go the Josh Grant route to fill in when somebody gets hurt then prove his worth.

The guy trains harder than nearly anyone. These guys don't choose where they place. I feel like he is doing everything right by even coming back from a double acl

I'm not busting on him, I'm stating a fact about him! This is a thread about silly season/contract time. Start a thread about everyone who loves Dean Wilson and I'll chime in on it!

I ride, I respect him, I want him on the team I cheer for......get it?

Not suprised to see Deano go, even after DeCoster gave him such glowing remarks on the video he did recently. Oh well...just proof positive that the buck doesn't stop with RD over at Team Tangerine. I believe DeCoster hired him as a "hopeful", not as a rider that would be a championship contender anyway...and with Canard coming onboard (and not for free), the funds to keep a fourth rider going might have been a deciding factor. Everybody has a budget.

Dean's a good guy, and seems to be a hard worker. His finishes coming off the double ACL (and nasty staff infection) were surely not what he's hoped for...but a whole helluva lot better than some would have done.

All that said, I hope Dean gets a solid ride. He deserves it.

I agree, smart move by Wharton. But it's crazy, he was on the brink of being a "top guy" in SX when he stopped racing.

As a side note: I doubt any of the Wharton's will end up at a dead-end job, that family is loaded!

Really? You saying he should have "been a lot better" To be better, its time, effort and opportunity. All of which he has taking advantage of to make the best finishes.

He came back to get gate drops and race while still filling weird about dabbing or putting down his leg. Thats heart and effort knowing the importance of getting the most race time before the end of the season. Should have been a lot better says who? You?

Agreed, I think he would have had to damn near win a moto (well near 2nd place I should say) to retain a spot at KTM. I think he did great upon return, but the decision was pretty set in stone already in my opinion.

Look you can disagree with me if you want, that's cool! But in my opinion "he should have been a lot better" to land a good contract. Barely top 10 with a bunch of guys hurt doesn't look to good from a business standpoint. Again I'm not talking about how much heart he has or about how hard he tried.

Maybe you think how he did with the bad knees factored in was good enough to land a sweet deal?

Are you afraid my opinion is going to cost him a contract? His finishes cost him the KTM contract! Just facts.

I don't think Blake not ending up in a dead-end job has anything to do with the financial health of his family. He's no dummy. He probably made some pretty good bank while he was still racing, and has figured out how to bow out of that deal while he is still young and healthy...so he can actually have a life after moto, instead of working construction for the rest of his life. He'll be fine.

Why are you arguing? The faCT is he didn't do enough when he came back to deserve a ride, as harsh as that sounds, it's true.

I guess you added the "so far" to cover your ass ?

There's a few guys on here that actually know what they are talking about and UpTite is one of them. You could learn something in here, if you pay attention to whos posting accurate information......

Not staying with PC!

Rumors of him having and offer for MXGP with Suzuki 450, but also him willing to stay in US, but not having anything yet for that.

so wich teams are disappearing in mxgp?

Wilvo starting is own team (simpson, tonkov) means STR and Standing construct are loosing the biggest sponsor. Wil we see them back in 2017?

24MX?

Magee?

Ken de Dycker told it's gonna be difficult to find a team because al lot of teams are in financial troubles.

Already said by confirmed today : Zach Pichon to Team Suzuki Everts for the EMX2 !

Now a speculation, just a thought but I heard Maxime Renaud may not be with Yam in 2017 ; my guess is he will go to CLS Kawi to replace Ferrandis in MX2 (or EMX2?). Prado killed it but Renaud did pretty good too, 12th in moto 2 for his first GP, in the sand, after a season injured, and on a semi(?) official YZF. He is also 15 or 16.

Pretty happy to see that French MX is in good hands if the above happens ; Rubini and Goupillon are coming too, and I would not be surprised to see Pichon exploding under Everts (top 3 EMX2 2017, top 10 MX2 2018, top 3 MX2 2019).

Watch out Evert's son too, I guess the Pichon family will contribute to make Liam a big championship caliber.

I like dean ,and i hope he gets a good ride , he has the talent to win 450 races next year imo . but i agree he was way off this year than what he is able to do and wanted to do , id say .(in fairness he was off the bike for a long time ) I will say it was a complete dick move by him saying the only reason he was not on the UK MXON team was they were to mean to spend the money to fly him over .His results were the reason . an 11th in the AMA (with the injurys )would barely be top 20 in the GP s at the moment ,Searle and Simpson are alot better picks at the moment .

From another motosite:

Motosite: Talk about the USA thing. Since I remember meeting you the first time it’s always sort of been on the horizon, maybe going to America. How excited are you to go there?

Brian Hsu: I’m really excited to go there. For a long time I was going to go there already and now I have the chance from Suzuki. I think last year or something they did not have the 250 team so now they are going to make one. I still haven’t signed a contract yet because we will go over there to talk, so we will see.

I know many have mentioned a possible Yosh 250 only team and cutting out the 450 program. Maybe signing on/merging with Jimmy Albertson's team (again already mentioned). I know there have been a ton of threads on this but I think it's interesting
More news in regards to Hsu

Interesting, looks he is done with Europe. Suzuki appears to be his first choice in terms of teams, but he may go elsewhere.

Having done an ACL myself the conditions at Ironman are the worst for a recovering knee, let alone 2 knees in a 12 month span, and being a taller rider, sloppy long ruts that had giant hooks in the corner would have me nervous and riding very tentative just so I don't wreck my knee again and completely end my career.

Since he came back at Millville he showed progress up to the point of Ironman, which was a bad day at the office. We will see how the GPs go, if conditions are good he will hang it out.

Dean will have a ride, it just probably won't be on the KTM Factory Team unless some crazyness happens, which is a bummer because he really wanted to prove he deserved that ride, and he really only got 4 races on the bike at peak condition with a solid offseason training program not a mid season recovery program.

I think someone else joked about the flight costs. Maybe I missed Deans comment after.

Dean was bummed they didn't text or call him back to see if he was being considered or not, which isn't that big of a deal to send a text. "Yes you're being considered, we will let you know as soon as we make our final selection." Or "No, your results have not been up to par with our other options for our A Team." (I.e. Making plans with your US based team to have your bike and mechanic and everything shipped to Italy takes an effort that shouldn't be left until the last minute.)

I think someone else joked about the flight costs. Maybe I missed Deans comment after. Dean was bummed they didn't text or call him back to...

Dean was bummed they didn't text or call him back to see if he was being considered or not, which isn't that big of a deal to send a text. "Yes you're being considered, we will let you know as soon as we make our final selection." Or "No, your results have not been up to par with our other options for our A Team." (I.e. Making plans with your US based team to have your bike and mechanic and everything shipped to Italy takes an effort that shouldn't be left until the last minute.)
i think they should of text him back .and i get why he was annoyed by it. But i also see N Prince s point of view ,Dean should know every rider is going to be consisdered .and he did nt text all the riders to let them know they were on the team or not . Dean was serious about them being too cheap imo. i really think he believes he should be on the team .and thats the reason why.. I just dont think he been on the same pace as he has been (yet!) imo. id put nicholls ahead of him speed wise too right now .
