For what reason would he want to leave Suzuki though...

The bike is what it has been, and it's been great for a number of riders... outside of past relationship stuff, wouldn't you want to ride a bike you know you, and everyone else, can win on...

And maybe perhaps look at riding a normal setup like he did in 2012 outdoors and looked great on?

I totally agree Crush, UNLESS its Yosh or Suzuki that dont want to continue...Yosh because it wants to maybe focus on the rumored 250 team or Suzuki for whatever reason dont want the relationship continued.

On JS's side maybe he gets a better deal from another manufacturer which trumps the service/support Suzuki have given him?

Damaged goods....Although he could win on any given night, Anybody would be nuts to hire him to do any racing...Unless it is a performance based contract....and he is a third rider........I would suspect, he will retire as a result and hopefully still be involved in moto at some level, brand ambassador with suzuki I would suspect. I would imagine just his agents commission would be more then anyone is willing to pay.

Really if you look at his history since 2010 it has been bad to terrible for him, with a few flashes of brilliance that kept it alive. A far cry from what he achieved prior to that time.....

Well in 2014 he won like 6 races including that amazing Toronto race so I would call that more than a flash of brilliance. On any day he can set fastest lap and get heat wins and possibly main wins.with that being said he had a devil of a time just finishing a race since the suspension so that doesn't go unnoticed to me either. But this is business and he gets tons of attention. That's not always good and he has to stay on the track more but as Gene Simmons said, there's no such thing as bad publicity.

Like Lance Armstrong said, it's not about the bike!

Stewart will go wherever he gets the best deal financially, he won't be too bothered about the bike IMO as it's going to make little difference to his performance at this stage of his career. Better to get the best deal that he can financially, stay clean, then hit the gym and actually turn up to race in some kind of shape.

yeah, I think everyone knows very well that armstrongs 'success' had nothing to do with his bike. bad example mate.

suzuki is the only brand without a top guy/ big name signed, ama or gp's. so I don't think any other manufacturer will be bothered to take on james after his last 2 years. Not trying to bash him, he can do things on a bike that simply other never will be able to do BUT he has a point to proof right now before any real interest from big sponsors will rekindle. the point being if he can motivate himself to race on the highest level again. the problem, this may be his last season and time is not in his favour. I hope he can figure it out and end his career knowing he tried his best and go out with decent results.

I'll drive 3000miles to see a mx/sx race if I know stews on the line.

60000 people will stand around a green waiting for Tiger Woods to putt , compared to 20000 when he doesn't play.

What's this thread about again?

You might well be right, if indeed the contract is with Suzuki and not Yosh Suzuki ...in any case any contract can be terminated earlier if either party wanted to.

Also if the rumors are true that Yosh is now a 250 only team then that kind of puts paid to any 450 for JS (and Mookie?).

I think you mean that any contract can be terminated if "both" parties want to, not "either". Otherwise, there's really no point of a contract. Unless a contract is specifically unilateral (example is a life insurance policy, etc.) then it takes both parties agreeing to set the agreement aside.

If one party terminates a bilateral contract unilaterally, that's breach.

Not necessarily. The only time you may hear about it is when it does happen, but somebody is giving something up, in most cases, when a contract is terminated (buyout).

James should just pull a Two Two and start his own team. Run whatever bikes he wants, set them up the way he wants, pay himself what he wants. If he wins, it will be because of him, if not, he's got no one to blame but himself. Team Seven. Complete control.

Compared to the investment they've already made, why not just give him the last year with a performance-based contract? Pit him out of an EZ up next to the 250 team.

Cost wise, it'd be a rounding error compared to what they've already invested in Stew. And who knows: maybe he could show up in shape this time. He was lurking near the front last year until Dungey cleaned his clock.

If he has a choice , I really hope he stays with Factory Suzuki. They have stuck with James through some rough times. I also hope he takes it serious and comes in healthy , in shape and focused. Give it one more year of complete dedication and let the cards fall where they may.

Sounds like to me that Stew is running out of options quick unless he does his own deal. From what I have read it seems Yosh is going to be only a 250 team next year.

JS7 had a stipulation in his Red Bull contract this year, 4 podiums at any combination of national level events. Straight Rhythm, Supercross or Outdoors. He had 1 podium, Straight Rhythm. He won't be with Red Bull next year....stamp it.

I will be very, very surprised if that happens. Shocked even. What's Bubba's social media footprint again?

This is COMPLETELY irrelevant, but just a thought I've had in the back of my head....................
I've always wondered what his career would've looked like if him and DeCoster would've worked together.

Stewart will have a factory bike under him, and be getting paid by the manufacturer to ride it (not as much as when he was winning everything, but getting paid a salary)....so long as he wants to race.

His star is so big and bright that results don't matter as much they do for a lesser known rider, and he is one of the few guys on the line these days that have won 450 races, let a lone 450 titles.

I think we fans put way less emphasis on race wins that the teams do...

James missed the opportunity to come in healthy and in shape after his WADA suspension so what is different now?

I'm a huge Stewart fan now but IMO the comeback train has already left the station. If not for the A1 concussion he might have been able to race himself back into shape but we'll never know.

Don't forget... He'll probobly ride off into the sunset soon like MC, Emig, Villo, Windham, Pastrana, RC did on their respective "brands".
First off, my apologies if I misread sarcasm on this one.

If not though, what world did any of those riders with the exception of maybe Villopoto or Carmichael ride of into the sunset on their respective brands???

MC had honda, suzuki, yamaha, then tried to salvage the tail end of his career with ktm until he got hurt and called it... then he became brand ambassador for honda and now kawasaki

Emig had yamaha then built a strong career with kawasaki until he got fired, started up his own yamaha team got hurt and also called it. Went on to work for Kawasaki and now Husky

Windham had kawasaki (rookie), yamaha, suzuki, and honda, which he rode until he scared himself into retirement

Pastrana has probably more brand loyalty than anyone else, always on a suzuki but kept crashing until he had to walk away from the sport.

RC was truly the only one to ride off into the sunset, uninjured on top but considering his career was pretty evenly split between 3 brands, (kawasaki 5 yrs, honda 3 yrs, suzuki 3yrs) I don't really attach RC to any of them even though he still works with suzuki

A lot of facts that im sure a lot of people already know but basically I don't see many of these as riding off into the sunset... Anyways here's my 1 contribution to vital for the month haha and with that I'll end my rant.

A-1 concussion was huge....!!! He looked great and ready to compete. In the end his style in the early days is catching up to him. To many bell ringers of epic proportion.
