Watching 250 2nd moto. Started at 9:30. It's now 9:58 and the gate just dropped. The Kawasaki track map arrow and Langston new mph diagram whatever the fuck thing, get more air tme than the actual race. I really hate that track map arrow. I don't know why but I really want to kill it to death everyone I see it.

What's wrong with salt? I like salt. I get it, some people will settle for anything. Like crap race coverage. Some people strive for better.

The things you complain about have been par for the course all along. It could be a lot better, yes! But believe it or not, it was much worse in the 80's (The Wide World of SportsHuh ), and 90's......and up til about 2 years ago. Sooooo.......No!

That rider view cam was really bad. I cannot believe that made it through editing.

And it's always nice to know that a hour of post race Nascar is more valuable to the network than airing the 2nd Motos.

But I feel we are still lucky to be able to watch it all considering the popularity of the sport in mainstream America

BTW Georgia was spectacular as usual so it made all of the channel changing worth it.

The coverage is not bad. It's piteously and pathetic.
Showing less than 50% of the actuall racing is a insult to the viewer!

Before the Internet when it wasn't even a sport yet ? It wasn't worth being on tv! Two weeks was perfect !!

Yesterday was brutal , at one point there was a 5min commercial and then back to racing for 1 min and back to 5 min's of commercial

For those of you that think the coverage is perfect and doesn't deserve some criticism, I think you have low expectations. I'm thankful it's on same-day as well but think it could be better. I'm sick and tired of having motocross explained to me every 5 seconds.

First, if we just sat through the first moto of watching 450 moto one, do we need to watch the track map again before 250 moto one? I still kinda know where the track goes.

Second, does NASCAR begin every race by saying, "Ok...here's the 411 on NASCAR. We're gonna go left around this for 257 times. The guy who crosses the finish line will be the winner. The next guy across the line with be 2nd place..." I don't know jack about soccer. If I stumble on a game, they don't say...ok...out of bounds is this....to win, you should score a goal.

Do we really need the people that don't know moto? Its been around long enough that the people that are curious enough about it are fans. Why is every show geared toward the guy who JUST happened to stop on the channel on the way to their favorite show?

I'm thankful we get to watch it and I will continue to sit through the Jeff Emig pop up stand commercial when there is a pass for the lead. Or, we have to watch the start because I REALLY give a crap that Justin Bogle got the hole-shot (20 min ago) and is now in 9th place. They could do better. It's as if they're training live TV producers and personnel with motocross before they get to the big show of NASCAR. Ok guys...this is just Moto....you don't have to be perfect, this is just motorbikes. Smile

There is no editing during a live broadcast.

And I agree, "Dick Cam" (credit to Matthes) is just awful.

The broadcast is exactly what you get when it is a sponsor funded deal. They call the shots on when and how their product is showcased, so that's why we get holeshot replay's 20 minutes into the race, and we have the GoPro "Dick Cam", LitPro comparison, etc...

And for the record, Chris Bond is the show Producer for SX and Mx, and has been for a long time.

Exactly!! I never bitch about coverage but the 2nd 450 moto on NBC had a 1 hour slot for a 30 minute +2 laps race yet we only were able to see 15 minutes of racing. That's pathetic.

I disagree. I think you can find coverage from the early/mid 90s on you tube. ESPN with Dave Despain and David Bailey. Two hours all four motos back to back. Yes it was edited but we got to see way better coverage. They had the gate for the first moto drop in the first two minutes of coverage. Two 125 motos first hour. 2 250 motos second hour.

If I remember right they showed it later the same day. Don't really see the advantage of live coverage anyway. I don't really want to watch TV on Saturday afternoon.

I don't remember coverage in the 80s. But do remember Wide World of Sports. Carlsbad GP. I think they aired it 6 months later at Christmas time. What was cool though is that every kid in my 6th grade class in 1974 that never heard of Motocross came to school on Monday morning and new who Roger DeCoster and Brad Lackey were and they all wanted to get in on Dirt Bikes.

I agree with others on the on board camera. Its very distracting while try to watch the race. Please stop it.

I concur on the 411... The only people that remember dialing for information are old farts over 40 and it's lame.

Personally I just wait until Sunday morning and watch all 4 motos on pro motocross dot com commercial free.

These are legit points. I get sick of the tear off/roll off demonstration every other race (as I'm sure Georgia probably does too but has no say in it). The silver lining I guess is that it has got me thinking about inventing something to finally solve the goggle/vision issues in this sport....

I agree. I love that we have the same day TV, and for the most part they do a great job.. But showing the track map or the holeshot half way thru the moto is annoying as hell. Especially when the racing is as intense as it was Saturday in the 450 class.
