Some good info in this thread. Anyone want to update anything that might help. It's been 20 years since I raced there last.

Tons of great info, and I do have a little bit to add...

I'm typically out on the infield for every moto all week, so the heat info is spot on. I usually carry a rag, wet it with cold water a few times a day and wear it on the back of my neck. Old trick and kind of a "well, duh?" thing to do but it's a pretty big help.

If you tube the creek from the beach (straight back from the start) all the way to Loretta's house, be ready for about a 2-3 hour trip.

There's a fairly good size laundry mat in Waverly but if you catch a lazy evening with not much going on and/or some rain, it will probably be crowded.

When parking, make sure to pay attention to the guys telling you where to go and please park as close as you can to your neighbor. I know everyone likes to have lots of room but just put yourself in the shoes of someone who got there later and didn't have a good spot because someone else took up a huge amount of room. Doesn't seem fair, does it?

There's a lot of staff there that have been working non-stop since March. Jeff Russell, Ryan Echols, myself and a few others will be there but we've also laid out, sat up, had races, torn down and reclaimed 9 GNCC events so far this year and also had a PAMX, LL Regional, Pro National and ATVMX race at High Point, plus an ATVMX race at Ironman during the weeks between those 9 GNCCs. If you break down and one of us is helping you, we feel for you. We're all racers ourselves and understand your frustration but please don't take your frustration out on someone who is trying to help you. Remember that at anytime, there could be a sponsor, OEM, etc watching and you want to represent yourself in the best way possible. That goes for any interaction you have with anyone, you don't want to give anyone the wrong impression of yourself.

Food:
All the vendors are good, but Cissie Lynn's Country Store across the street makes some great food as well. Smoked Turkey sandwich is on point...

Next to Walmart in Waverly is a place called Jen's Steak and Seafood. It's rarely very busy the times I've been there but it's pretty good. Their grilled Cajun catfish is awesome.

Log Cabin goes without saying for breakfast, lunch or dinner. Never had anything there I didn't like.

There's a little walk up BBQ place across the street from Log Cabin. It's also really good!

If you do not get a hook up from the lottery try to arrive at the track as early as you can. We try to arrive Thursday morning to get a spot along the creek. Look for a high spot just in case of flooding from rain.

Are you racing? How many people? Expect to spend more, and take some extra on top of that. Plenty of coolers.

Biggest, baddest race of the year. For us that live in and around TN, most all will be there. Best week, expect a storm also.

Loretta's qualifiers have started. I am making my first run at it in the North Central. Had 536 entries this weekend. I'm curious if anyone else has raced their area yet and what the rider turnout was in your classes?

We went to 3 Palms in Houston for the qualifier. Turnout was pretty low and several riders advanced by default.

We are planning our first trip to LL's this year just to spectate, we aren't racing. My kid wants to try to qualify next year.
Likely will be staying at a hotel and driving to/from the track each day. I want to bring a golf cart with me to cruise around in, but I read where spectators aren't allowed to bring in pit bikes/golf carts. Is there any way around that? It's already going to be miserable out there, I'm not interested in walking around with a chafed ass for a week. I think we will drive up Wednesday, watch the races Thursday and Friday, then return home Saturday.

Me and about 900 other trail riders will be there for the MTDR annual trail ride in a couple of weeks.
Its a camping, drinking, golf cart riding, trail riding, creek dippin extravaganza.
We are told to "not even look at" the MX track. Smile
I did get a ride a small part of it as part of the GNCC race a couple of years ago. Pretty cool.

It's going to be me and my sons first year as spectators! Someone mentioned in an earlier post "I read where spectators aren't allowed to bring in pit bikes/golf carts. Is there any way around that?" or are bicycles allowed for spectators? is the log cabin breakfast in the Loretta facility or in town? Any new updates or advice is greatly appreciated!
If there is an updated thread please post a link!

P.S. I thought about bringing in a STREET LICENSED scooter (not really considered a pit vehicle) in the back of my truck. But, I imagine this won't be allowed. Even if they charged me and extra 40 for another vehicle I would do it.

When people say if you are camping "get there early", how early is early?

You cannot register until Sunday at 4:00, but I am seeing things where people arrive as early as Thursday.

Definitely get there as early as you possibly can. I raced there in 2015 after not being there since 2009. My wife and I argued over leaving Thursday instead of Friday. Even though, I didn't have a hard time finding a spot, we weren't able to park where we wanted because we showed up Friday instead of Thursday. DO NOT wait until Sunday to get there, trust me!

I spoke with someone I know who works for Thor/Parts Unlimited. He said they arrive on Thursday to set up, but wouldn't suggest arriving any earlier than that.

I was originally planning on arriving Sunday morning, but may want to rethink that. They do charge an extra $40/night if you get there any earlier than Sunday. It's all about the $$$

I think it's $40 a night. It's worth it to me to be there and parked where you want vs where you have to. This is where we got to park in 2015 by arriving Friday. We had a good spot but walking up the hill got old by the end of the week! Reading all the posts is making me want to go again. It's the best week of the year IMO.

Good luck and enjoy yourself!

Any advise on where to try and camp at for high ground/ shade. We will be arriving late late Thursday night or early Friday morning.

I was looking to try and get around bradshaw, canard or stewart brothers, but I don't know if they are actually a good area.

The area between the track and Creek and the fields past the track are the worst when it rains. Those areas turn to solid mud. It will rain at some point, I have gone for many years, can't remember when it didn't rain at least once. Shade will be best found around the creek or stagecoach hill. Bring a pit vehicle for sure, you will wear yourself out walking all week, no matter where you park.

I was told to try to get to stagecoach that is #3 on the map correct? We will have a couple pit vehicles for the weekend. So I prefer to park away from the craziness lol.

I honestly haven't looked at a map in forever. Stagecoach hill will be on your left, across the road from the main track entrance. It is my first choice always if I stay at the track. There isn't anywhere to get away from the crazinessWink . Thankfully, my house is only a hour twenty drive.

Another tip about cash needed, take enough cash for tires. I would take enough for at least a rear tire per moto. Dunlop and JGR have good prices and change them for you. That will give you options if you need to go to a mud tire or just to give you a fresh tire for your starts. You can take the tires and use them for your normal riding afterwards. You have spent a fortune to get there, give yourself the best shot at a start with tires.

Stayed at the Knights Inn off of I-40 last year, simply because it was the only thing available that was close. If you have reservations there for this year, go get a tetanus shot before you arrive. Place was filthy as hell..... Waverly just up the road is small, but can cater to what most folks would need to survive the week. We enjoy the event as a vacation, not competing, lots of good times to be had.

I've got a fresh tire on, plus another coming, I guess I'll get some more down there if they are a good deal.
I honestly planned on taking almost all cash.
