I think KTM/Husky read Vital....That 250SX has a 38mm carb and 14:50 gearing. Anyone wanna bet it has a Suzuki needle in it too?

Thanks for the free development work Digger lol

You must have not ridden the TM....

Cool bikes, descent engine, but something just felt "strange" in the chassis department to me. Bike felt like my 2002 KX 250 with no front end feel.....but it was not set up for me

the chassis is stiffer than KTM and the suspension is better , the faster you go the better they handle . you need more than just a few laps to get used to them . i have been riding KTM since 2008 , sold my 2015 SX250 3-4 months ago

the boys i ride with have , 2016 350 husky with factory WP suspension , 2016 YZF450 , 2016 CRF250 & KTM250f , 2016 CRF450 & KTM250f , 2015 350 husky with full ohlins , 2015 KXF450 .

very one of these guys loves the TM 2 stroke handling and the way it makes its power , all of them are as quick or quicker on the TM than there own bikes and it is set up for me . so they cant be as bad as you make out plus they look really good :-}}}

How do you think the bike feels with the traction control? Do you think you'd use it?

I thought traction control wasn't legal?? Or are they doing it in a way to get around the rules?

Not legal as far as I know and I don't like it. What's next? Stability control? ABS? Why not just make em effing auto pilot and we can just watch our bikes race themselves from the side of the track.

Anyone else notice Husky claiming 63hp for the 450? I thought it was 59hp last year.

I'm disappointed the 250t still uses a carb and a mechanical power valve.

I'm with you on that. I want the offroad model info...

I want a new 300XC, but not sure about switching to the Husky version.

Everything I have is either orange or has a KTM sticker on it....

As somebody with a million different CAD and paper drawings all over the house from various ideas.... I still say screw traction control. There's lot to improve on a bike, making a computer help shouldn't be one. Electronic aids are only taking away needed skill.

One of my gripes, at least here is cost.

A 2016 rmz 250 goes for 7k, the husky 250f goes for a hair under 10k.

TC doesn't work on a dirt bike its a gimmick , without out wheel sensors both front and rear wheels it is not TC and will never be TC .
the GET brought it out it is a load of crap all it does is turn the power down it is not a real for of TC , the road bike versions that run off the crank are the same , put your trust in that and your going home in the ambo .

the so called launch control they have is the same it is crap all it does is cut the power in the first 2 gears , anyone with half an idea on how to use a clutch and throttle will smoke them every time

you need to ride a bike with real TC and full electronics to understand it , but it still isn't going to work on a dirt bike .

2016 RMZ250 $7700, 2016 FC250 $8500?

$800 upgrade for a bike that's modern and actually being developed extensively...hardly the $3000 difference you are making it out to be?

Sort of bummed they're still using ktm as the platform for their products. I was hoping they would have a total different engine by now.

What do you think the Japanese are thinking right about now? I mean these things are beautiful, and it is clear that the R&D going into every model is extensive. That 250 2 banger might be the ultimate bike of all time. I am so curious to find out how it goes. And the 125 looks amazing too. If money were no object, then colour me white. The problem will be that in Canada a Husky goes for, like, 1 billion dollars.

Yeah, I'm with flatliner on this one. Those prices aren't that similar over here I'm afraid. I own a 2016 KTM SX 250 2-stroke and a 2016 RM-Z 250 is about 1500 euros cheaper than what I paid for mine (with a discount)

Against the KTM 250F that would be a 2000 euro difference.

Maybe it's just me, but no new dirtbike should ever cost over 8000$/euro, unless it was a special edition.
Suzuki may have been left behind with their R&D, but I'm betting their all-new RMZ will still be over 1K cheaper than a KTM around these parts.

The absolute worst is the YZ250 which has had a ~1500 price increase over the last 7-8 years without changing a bolt on the bike. (yeah I know, plastics and forks bro).

I looked this morning. The prices I have are accurate.

The only husky dealer here has the bike listed for 9800, I can get an rmz for 7k.

But yet you want computer controlled EFI and power valve? Kind of ironic.

Not sure I'd call it a gimmick, yes it's not perfect but in the offroad world wheel sensors won't help much.
I think you're missing my issue, I don't really care so much about the traction control as I do about the direction the industry is headed. Gimmicky or not, it will help sometimes. And it will give inexperienced riders extra confidence.
So what about ABS? I know that won't work well on dirt bikes either, but how often you hear somebody say they don't like or don't use the front brake? I hear it frequently. I bet those riders would jump at ABS, and instantly become faster without any real skill.
Then stability control? Ford is implementing technology to allow cars to jump pot holes. So when are we gonna get bikes that can read the terrain and "jump" braking and acceleration bumps?
I'd rather see improvement in frame, suspension geometry.

DFI can improve emissions and power. Doesn't have to be a rider aid. Electronic power valve can improve emissions and power. Again doesn't have to be an aid. They also allow easier changes for the rider, plug in your laptop and change fuel tables and power valve height at any given rpm. I guess you could argue that allows them to be used as an aid, but you have to figure out what settings help.

Almost any advancements in tech are good in this sport, in my opinion. No that doesn't mean I want TC but someone might. I'm just happy someone put the time and effort (read money) into trying something new.

Correct on the Traction Control... It's just running off a crank sensor that looks for RPM spikes, then responds by cutting power a little...

As for launch control... the KTM/Husky version is different then what the Japanese run as it also limits RPM and doesn't cut back as much power... It's actually useable on across all starting conditions unlike the others which are really only usable for hard-packed and concrete.

As for being crap... The majority of the teams are using this system and it can make a difference if setup properly.

Just as a note.. The Kawasaki KX450F has had this electronic power restriction for two years now... They just didn't go around calling it Traction Control.

That isn't really Husky/KTM's fault though is it? The fact is that Husky/KTM dealers sell for a premium over the bikes msrp because they know people will pay it. Suzuki dealers have to discount off of the msrp because they aren't moving enough at full asking price.

I do get what you are saying but you can't really blame Husky for it.

What does Kawasaki call it? As far as I know this is the first "traction control" not just "launch control" but maybe I haven't been paying enough attention.
