One of my best buds Eric Gillen is wrenching for him. They have been riding a lot and putting in the work. I think it's cool to shake it up with a bee in the cluster fuck of farts.
Agreed.

It makes me sad actually that there is now an entire generation of racers and fans who have never seen, heard or smelled a full gate of 125 pros come off a gate at a national. It is the most exciting sound and the best smell ever not to mention the most aggressive racing you will ever see.

For those who want to see close exciting races, throw all the pros on 125's and watch the winner earn his podium with a huge smile.

god damn nationals need a 125 pro-am class.....newmann back me up here! who better to break in an over watered muddy mess of a track in the morning before pro practice than some ragged out 2 banger tiddlers that are trying to make a name for themselves!!!

hear that davey, bring in the one two fives...start out with few national tracks or something. redbud, millville, budds 125-championship.

He can't win on a 250f. He won't get a factory ride of a 250f. He's shot himself to the top of the 'follow him because you like him' list for a lot of people. Sure his results are going to be worse than he'd get on a 4 stroke, but he's gonna get a lot more attention this way. Smart move, and he'll have a blast doing it.

If he really wants to upset the apple cart, he ought to drop a big bore in those and race cheater bikes. If he gets caught, he'll draw a lot of attention to the rules and how they neuter 2 strokes. Probably wouldn't do anything, but could be a catalyst for change.

Why not start a series yourself, you and newmann, if the purse is big enough , riders will come if the interest is there, sponsors will come . Start now , plan for 2017.

It"s called marketing in the real world. Sponsors aren't in it because it makes them feel all warm and fuzzy inside. They want their name/product to get as much attention as possible. Hopefully, that exposure turns in to increased revenue. Some of the most successful marketing plans have a "hook " that makes them more visible (like a 125 2t).

Stank is in a unique position to stand out more than if he was just like everyone else that lines up on the gate. He could leverage that exposure to hopefully get him more sponsors that translates to better support for his cause. Sounds like a win-win situation to me.

Lets face it, if he was on a 250f he wouldn't get much attention. Ultimately, Stank and/or his sponsors would like to create a buzz that get people talking about it where they otherwise wouldn't. For instance, like in a medium that thier target market conglomerates in on a regular basis? Even better yet, iwhat if in said medium your targeted customers actually create the buzz for you, without even knowing it? Oh wait.....

What brand of 125 is he going to ride? See what I did there?

Don't look now, but it has already started!?

Not disagreeing with it. Makes a good story hope he gets into a few and scores points.
But it does make him the freak of the circus.

the euro championship classes are picking up the 125 class get around 100 entries and 300 class 50 or so , most euro countries have their own 2 stroke classes now in there nationals as well .

i was at a track near Barcelona last Saturday and it would have had close to 50% 2 strokes there

Stankdawg doing it right he got a ride in arena cross last year because of all the attention he got , be great to see him contest the championship .

Eh? As kzizok mentioned, it's not just results that can get you attention from fans and sponsors.

It works because I buy brands that sponsor him.

I dont care what place he gets. He's the first place two stroke. So thats a win for me.

He will have more fans than any 250F rider 10 spots in front of him. Conversely, he will get zero TV or commentator time, but at least he can sleep at night knowing he earned his spot like a bamf.

If he makes more than a few mains and gets any attention at all for 2 strokes he will be instantly offered some sort of help on a bike that has a bunch of extra parts just above the piston for the following season. It has been the case every other time this has happened.

Seriously though. We need another Tshirt!

Why is everyone so scared of smokers? LOL
no youll know when he is being lapped. you'll hear that sweet sweet sound BRAAAP

He'd be up front. His corner speed is what made the difference.

If yall don't see how this is a win for his sponsors you're retarded. He's getting as much attention as Tomac and Reed today.
Besides Stank dog is a good 2 stroke rider, maybe he isn't the fastest guy out there. But he can get a 125 past half the field. Last year he raced a YZ125 and a stock 2014 KTM 125. Finished as high as 21st. The 2016 125 is only better. I'm expecting him to break 15th this summer. And I bet he'll have a Helluva lot fun doing it.

Yep. Same deal with the "Seven Deuce Deuce".

Even if they aren't a threat for winning nationals, both of those guys stand out in the sport in their own way. They're both popular among the fans as a result.

And that's the thing, people are so obsessed with race results nowadays. We're living in a different culture as 10 years ago. There's people making money by RTing stuff on twitter or giving the thumbs up on facebook.

Just a simple question that you can answer yourself, who's more in talk today, Stankdog or any other guy probably hovering around the 20th place?

Hey, just imagine for a moment . . . Stanky does well and gets lots of fans cheering wildly . . .
A few other guys see the wisdom and next thing you know, there's a half dozen guys ripping around
on 125s much to the delight of the fans. An unofficial "First 125" fund gets started on Indiegogo
and the winner starts getting an extra $1k a weekend . . .

Yeah, that's my ESPN highlight fantasy . . .

If you are talking about outdoors, he wouldn't get lapped now much less 10 years ago. He was amazing on the KX125.

...Awesome!.

I'm happy for the lad, he's doing what he wants to do, not what he should do.

Go on my son!.

x2. I can't remember positions and i think he had a crash in moto 2, but after wrapping up the 2011 MX2 title, Roczen raced the Italian round on a 125 and still showed unreal speed...The 259 wouldn't be lapped

Stanky was the only reason I went to the nationals last year and will be why I go this year. Ill buy another shirt too, dude is awesome. Seems most people are missing the point as its mosty done for fun and he gets a lot of attention. I forget what track is was last year, but there was one he had a qualifying time for the 450 class...on a 125! If that isnt badass idk what is.
This. He would have qualified straight to the 450 races.....on a 125. But yeah, it's all about the bike, right?

Someone post a link to donate or when the shirts are available. I'm ready.

This right here. If there was one other guy on a 2-stroke we could set up set fund. I think that would potentially make a difference in the sport. More riders on 125s, more awareness, more funds, even more riders again. If it got big enough (say 10 guys on 125s battling it out, not giving a shit about the other riders) there would have to be some rule changes made. Those changes could go either way though unfortunately.
