6D vs Moto 9 Flex

I'm on the market for a new helmet and the 6D and the Moto 9 Flex helmets seem like the way to go in terms of the best protection for my head. Any further info on the differences and pros/cons of the two helmets?

I have a Moto 9 Flex and love it. Maybe just pick the brand that fits your head the best. Also, maybe look into the new Troy Lee helmet and Fox...

the 6D is a very large shell compared to other helmets. they're amazing helmets, but if you're a smaller dude then i'd go with the Bell.

the Leatt is supposed to be legit

I was sold on a 6D until I went to the dealer and he showed me a few things and I tried it on.

The 6D has a composite shell vs the flex carbon shell.

The 6D is substantially heavier than the flex because of above.

The Flex has those badass magnetic cheek pads.


Plus the 6D just felt odd on my head vs the Flex.

The carbon version of the 6D is also over $100 more than the Flex which is standard in carbon.


Needless to say own a Flex now.

If I were going to buy a new helmet today, It'd be a Shoei, Arai, or Bell. I've owned an Arai and currently have a Shoei, both great. I hear nothing but great things about the Bell, so I'm sure I'd like it. I'd consider a 6D but I'd have to try it on first.

I don't think you can go wrong with either. If you have the ability to try them both on, I'd lean towards the one that fits the best.

A composite shell does what, flex under impact? A carbon shell does what, stay rigid? How is energy absorbed?
IMO Carbon shells should not be in moto.
On that note, 6D has helmets on amazon for a decent price op

I switched from a Shoei VFX-W to a 6D and love the 6D, it feels lighter and more comfortable.

Dude. Leatt gpx all day long. Smaller shell. In carbon or composite. I got the 5.5 in ghost black and I absolutely love it. Tons of vents, light, same technology as the flex and 6d

I love my moto 9 flex. It vents incredibly and fits great, magnetic padding, eject system adapted, I truly believe in the layered system rather then the 6D and leatt styles. I wasn't a fan of the 6D sizing and shell. Ive taken a couple hard hits and am on my 2nd flex. There's a very short list of helmets I would wear, the Bell tops that list.

I did the same thing. Mines a 6D carbon. Feels better to me than the Shoei. I think the quality is just as good.
I'm small, 5'6'' 155 and I really don't notice the size difference.
Plus its not 20 year old technology like Arai and Shoei.
I think the Bell , Leatt, Fly and Troy Lee would all be good helmets since they all use new safety technology

I destroyed a few Bell Moto 3's and never got a head injury or anything.

Im not sure I buy into all this "Lightweight" and fancy helmet shit. I'm not sure I'd want some of my crashes in a new lid. They just seem too flimsy and weak for me. Since about 2009 I havent been a fan of many new lids.

I have an Arai, it's my second one. No complaints. Had a Shoei VFX-4 I think. It was a Doug Henry replica. Also had a few Bell Moto 5 and 6 McGrath replicas when I was younger. I cracked a Bell Moto 6.

The se4 is carbon, has mips, the bell flex's layered tech, tons of vents, it's the lightest on the market I believe, and it has a sweet paint job.

Went with the 6D simply cause I needed a helmet by this weekend and 6Ds were the only thing in stock. Super happy with it though.
