Mike................
1. Which was a lower point for you " speed bump 08 " or the knee injury in 09..? You were on point to accomplish some big goals.

2. How much fun are you having right now.... And is this the most relaxed you've ever been on the bike and in the sport and in general..?

3. "Sarcasm" What's up in the stadium whoops, you're supposed to be slow, remember. Your whoop technique and speed has increased very nicely over the years. What would you credit that most to..?

4. How hard was it to stop looking over your shoulder and who got you to quit or how did you quit...?

Great job on an amazing evolution through your career. You've grown up under the unforgiving eye of the fans and have always gave 100%. Your longevity in the sport speaks for it self. Absolutely great job this year in SX. Good luck to you and your family in whatever you do after racing.

The MCR team does a Supercross program only so I had looked around in the AMA Motocross for a ride and nobody was hiring and I really enjoyed racing in Canada in 2014 so I decided to see if any jobs were up there available for me and I had found a ride and I'm really happy to be where I am for the summer
Congrats... Hope your luck is better this time around. Enjoy the summer and whip up on Canada. #1

Hi Mike,
Remember when you and your brother used to race at the AV Fairgrounds back in the late 90s? It was the first time i saw you race in person and couldn't believe how fast you could make a 60 go!! At one of the rounds your race was right after mine one night and as I was waiting at the starting gate you cleaned and packed my gate and line. I'm probably the only one who's ever had one of the worlds fastest racers do that for someone they didn't even know.. I never got the chance to say thanks to because it helped me rip a great hole shot! Btw Frenchie is a good friend of mine, You guys are going to wreak havoc in Canada this summer!

Mike,

My friend grew up racing in Minnesota. He was a winning B rider in district 23, but quit when he was bumped to A because of expense. He often talks about a time he rode with you and Jeff.

He lined up for the race with you and Jeff and the three of you were in the lead. You lapped him a little more than half way through. On the last lap, your brother almost lapped him if it wasn't for the checkered flag.

Thanks for participating and sharing your experience with us.

Hi Mike, thanks for coming on here!
After serious injury, it's not abnormal for riders to consider hanging it up. I know I have. After the "speedbump" crash, did you consider quitting?

I know you'll be racing in Canada this summer, but any chance we'll see you next year?

Lastly, do you have a special trick for getting the holeshot? No need to share, just curious if it's all reaction time and clutch control or something else nobody else has figured out.

Thanks again for answering our questions, good luck this year!

Hey Mike thanks for taking the time to field questions.
I took my family to Anaheim the night you won the heat race. We got to the pits kind of late and thought we missed out on autograph signing but you were still there late. My kids were stoked when you won because we had just met you and you were the only one we got to sign our stuff and take pictures. Those kinds of things are really memorable to little kids.
That leads me to my question. If you have kids in the future what are your feelings about them racing? Total encouragement or hesitation knowing what you know?
As I also grew up in an Italian family, but not knowing your family personally, I would make the wild guess that your dad speaks very passionately which can often get misinterpreted by people not used to it. However, he would give you the shirt off his back if you needed it. Am I close at all?

Hey thanks for taking the time answer questions

First, will we see you at Glen helen and Hangtown before you go north?

Second, aside from the Heat win a while back you seem like a solid top10-15. Do you feel like there is something missing to help you move forward?

Last What was your favorite track to race on?

Hey Mike, I was at Washougal a couple of years back when you straight up beat Dungey in the first moto. That was awesome to watch! You and he are probably my favorite riders, and it was great watching the two of you battle for pretty much the entire race.

Whenever you do decide to retire, I (and I suspect many others) would love to see you do sort of a farewell tour on a two stroke. I think that you would have more fan support than you can imagine.
Thanks for coming on here to answer some questions from us Vital members.

1. Both years were a bummer to me. I would say 09 was worse because I had a 40 pt lead for the Championship.

2. I am having a lot of fun riding now. I changed up my program this year and am staying at ClubMX. I feel like it is a great place for me and has helped me a lot this year.

3. I owe a lot of it to Club MX. Brandon has really helped me a lot with my technique in them and it has clearly shown this year.

4. Again a lot of it has to do with Club MX they have really changed my outlook on riding and I'm really happy to be there this year.

Thanks for your support

I have some sweatshirts, hats and beanies for sale. I think they are up on eBay now.

I hold a few clinics during the year. Not sure if I will be able to this year but if I do watch on my Instagram malessi800. I always post.

It is very normal to want to hang it up after injuries. There have been a few times when I have considered calling it quits. As an athlete you put your body through so much to be ready for a season and when you get hurt and are laying on the couch you think about everything and if it's worth it. It is a battle a lot of us struggle with.

I hope to be racing Supercross again next year. Have to see how the year goes.

I have a very good reaction time. Not that it has helped this year lol. I finally got my first Holeshot this past week in Indy.

Glad I could help in making your kid's night.

When the time comes I think it's something Danielle and I will have to talk about. I love racing but I'm not sure if I would let my kids race just because I know how it is.

My dad is very passionate about racing and he always has my best interest. I would say you are correct.

I would love to go back to Australia. I had so much fun there and it's a beautiful country. If I get the opportunity I would go back.

In racing you never know. I think I have a few good years left in me so we will just have to see.

No questions from me, I just want to comment that I'm impressed with the maturity to come on Vital and answer every single question straight-up, even the difficult ones. In my book that says a lot. Best of luck the rest of the season!

Hey Mike, always been a fan. Not really a question but thought you'd like this! one of the first pro races I ever watched is when you came to the UK and your bike blew up at the bottom of Hawkstone hill, although i think this guy had a worse time on that hill than you.. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=19M8nyWx7Dk Haha

Did Jeff warn you about this place? Ha

Kind of an odd question, do you have any relatives also named Mike Alessi? Heard someone mention the name and I almost shit a brick. Dont know how common the last name is.

Also, was happy to see you at the 2 stroke national. Gotta be fun to rip the RM250. Thanks for your time.

So, I was in the grocery store the other day looking for some rice, and I saw a package with an "Alessi" brand name...some ridiculously overpriced risotto, supposedly from Italy. I bought it anyway.
