Like herlings did last year.

I see a damn decent scrub there, and for a kid, that is very impressive.

But there's a but. Am I the only person watching that thinking that wasn't even close to as crazy as some things we've seen from Stewart, Herlings, Roczen, etc. ? I've seen those guys dragging their exhausts and side panels. Some of the well established professional racers make that scrub look like amateur hour. Oh, wait...

I'm not busting on Forkner here at all. That kid is impressive. Just seems like maybe some of you guys are shocked and awed too easily?
I agree with you cw.

Its somewhat hardpack and dry and hes drifting to the right with the bike already slightly leaning . What gives it the effect of being badass is an illusion...he takes and dabs his right foot as he crests the jump which makes for a large cloud of "scrub dust".

Scrub dust is obvious evidence of an almost gone wrong scrub. Footpeg drags, pulling the foot off and the next thing you know you are learning about concussion protocol. Austins scrub is a masterful illusion on the level of Doug Henning.

Cheerful

I don't think he really tried to scrub like that, looks to me like he got a little far to the left and than did what he had to and made the best of it. If that peg catches a bit more he is going down.

The thing that really blows my mind about that scrub is that he manages to lift the back tire kind of up and sideways off the dirt like he's intentionally throwing it to keep the peg off the ground. Pretty wild stuff

I see that and I think that's the essence of a scrub.

He is balancing inertia and riding "through" the jump face. Still, he's pretty high above that jump relative to some of the crazy stuff that has been captured in video and still images in the past 5 to 10 years. You only need 2/3 or 3/4 of a jump face if you hit it with enough speed.

Again, not crapping on Forkner, he is amazing. I am just not as blown away by that video as I am by stuff like these:

Herlings:

Stewart

Think you're underselling it. The difference with all those is that they're rounded crests, not kickers like in Forkner's video. I'm. It saying Forkner is better than those guys, just saying you can't compare those to this.

Generational difference probably, just as I was starting to not skate anymore they started showing up at skateparks, just seemed very out of place like roller blades... Now I drive by and see about a third of the kids on one... To me just something about having your hands and feet right next to each other just didn't look cool

Ouch! I think Forkner is great and cant wait to see how he does when he hits the nationals but all I could think of watching his scrub was Trey Canard in Washougal a few years ago. The difference between hero and broken bones is just an inch or two.

sorry best scrubs still go to James stewart. stewart was low enough to clip his pegs. I re-read the test on his 09 yz450f in mxa. they said he runs the narrow stock pegs because he was scraping with the wider pegs...

Skaters and BMX riders view "razor scooters", like a motocross racer views an ATV racer. It's just way easier to do at a novice or beginner level.

lol, yep..............I was actually out this weekend sledding. I was having a break at the alpine cabin where there was a gang of them, crazy how easy it was for the Timbersled riders to pick through tight trees and side hill, where it could take YEARS gain that skill on a sled......

I was at Monster Cup and seen Forkers SX skill. He could legit be a title contender similar to how Canard was his rookie year. Really smooth and rails the corners. His outdoor speed idk just yet. Can't see him up with the front runners but maybe 4-8th place. Be wild if he can beat his teammate AC though. That could be a good rivalry. On a side not with all this hype for Forker that Taft kid has also shown some serious speed. Even faster at times
