Hey guys I tried contacting the guy who painted the helmet after a month of it not showing up and it sounds like it might be a goner. I honestly do not believe he ever sent it. He has offered me no explanation as to what happened and it just seems really suspicious that he has no tracking information and only responds to about half of my text messages when I ask him where the hell the helmet is. I'm sorry it ended like this. I just wanted to raffle the helmet off for a guy who had a life changing injury while racing supercross and is trying to get his life back together. It's a shitty deal.
Chocolatethunder, I appreciate what you're trying to do, but posting screen grabs with his phone number in it? Not cool.

Honestly, I haven't read through the posts, as I'm not too interested in whatever he said she said is going on.

Everybody go kick some money to the Outlaw. That dude's had a tough road.

It was just about $100. The money went right to the gofundme page so there was no way that I could have taken the money. I didn't do any kind of drawing yet because I did not have anything to give away...

The helmet looks nice. Too bad about all the other stuff lol.

I tried bumping the thread up a couple times and I saw that a ton of people were clicking on the link but it just wasn't getting any people to donate or put their name in the hat for the drawing. Here is the helmet. It was originally a replica and he painted a fin number and visor to match just like the original, and redid the clear coat.

Looks great, too bad the guy isn't a great business man cause he sure can paint.

If it's only $100 so far, I donated 25% of it.
I've been following James Marshall on Facebook ever since his accident, and I believe getting him a van is a worthy cause.

If everyone on here could donate $20 or so (or even $10) James can buy his van and expand his horizons.
So I'm asking everyone, give what you can.

He's a good dude.

Here is the original thread, James Marshall raffle

2,500 clicks on it and four people donated. I wasn't trying to scam anybody. The donations went right to the gofundme link that is in the thread. I found the helmet in my parent's attic and wanted to do something cool with it. Then I thought I was getting screwed. I didn't post the raffle thread until after he said the work was done so it's over a month since the helmet was supposedly on it's way to me. I couldn't get any answers out of him so this is what I had to do.

Gibby I will take down the screen shots. I should have blocked that off.

Thanks, Radical.

People easily lose sight of the bigger picture.

My point is with all the bashing, you are only hurting the next kid that needs help. Why would anyone want to help in anyway when this is the outcome if you are late?

Remember it appears that the only one who actually helped the paralyze rider was Motokid.

I did a search on GOFUNDME and I can't find a charity for James Marshall. May be Choclatethunder could post the link while listing his 501c3 so we can create positive awareness for his cause.

You're still missing the problem. This is the outcome if you LIE and do not communicate with your customer. There is no problem being late (at least no problem worth bringing to vital), it's the fact that the painter lied about shipping the helmet. The painter claimed in the text messages provided by OP to have shipped it Feb. 22nd, when in reality, he only just now shipped it (2 weeks later).

I'm not missing anything. The point is, he is the one donating to the charity! He could just tell you all kiss his ass and no funds would have been raised. Plus I highly doubt he will ever offer again. I haven't see a single post say " good work thanks for the donation ".
I get that you want to back your buddy on this. You keep trying to deflect this onto the OP but it's not working. How can you deny the fact it was shipped out right before he posted? How can you deny this thread would not be here if he had communicated? This is basic. You're not making sense and actually are doing exactly what you condemned the OP for doing. The difference is he had a legitimate reason for posting and you don't.

Same here. I want the raffle to keep going and hopefully get a ton of new entries.

Did you post it over on HoustonMotocross.com? James has a pretty good following in the Houston area.

It's pretty obvious that Wahoo214 is bros with the painter...why else would he stand up for someone who clearly posted a BS lie here? Wahoo then proceeds to ask how much money was raised from a helmet that was just shipped....pfft...save it dude! I'd like to know the name of the business just so I know to avoid it.

Is the raffle still going on? Can the first 4 donaters get included into a new raffle so we can auction off this awesome piece of Vital folklore?

Not missing anything? Seriously?

You are so far behind you think you are in the lead.

Charity work is much appreciated. Being hard to get a hold of followed by being loose with the facts about when the thing shipped obviously wasn't appreciated.

I am fond of the expression if you find yourself in a hole stop digging

I guess the raffle has technically ended, but I'm pretty sure those of us that have donated are cool with keeping it going to get more donations for the cause.

Honestly I really did not want to have to do this. In the beginning talking with the guy, he was genuinely excited about doing the project. But then the deadline came and went and I had gone through a month of checking on my front porch expecting a helmet to eventually be there and it never showed up.

I was going to have him paint another one of my helmets for my own personal use but this just seemed to drag on and on so I got scared that I was getting the run around.

I could just extend the deadline if anyone else wants to donate. I had hoped this would have caught on and got a bunch of donations, but I guess there has to be controversy for anything to sell nowadays.

??? Last I checked at noon all of his personal info was posted.
I had it up there originally but now I regret that decision and realize that I made a mistake. It would be better if we didn't mention his name.

I just donated $60 bucks. If you guys reopen the raffle great, if not that's great too.

And in a bizarre twist of fate, it turns out I know the painter through friends. He always seemed like a cool dude, so who knows what actually happened..... I doubt there was any malice but I guess only he'll ever know.

Off topic, but if you wanted to get a helmet painted you can contact Hellion here. He does great work.

Awesome.

Maybe if people posted in the original thread when they donate it would help with visibility here.

I'd say the saddest part is still this thread hitting 3 pages in like 10 hours, and the raffle thread still sitting at one after a month.

I guess that's probably because opinions are cheaper than raffle tickets.

This is how things should have gone down..."hey, where's my helmet?" Man, I'm sorry but bills gotta be paid and my charity work takes a back seat. I'll get to it as soon as I can. I will keep you posted bro". The only problem I have with the OP is maybe don't set a deadline till you have the product in your hands. No real shitheadedness here...just some less than heads up dealings. Learn and move on.

There was a few threads on here to help James, before this raffle even came about. So i know some of us donated then. Helping James is what its all about and even though this helmet deal didn't catch on many here have and continue to help James. I wish James the best and hope he can get his van, he is getting closer.
3/7/2016 7:08pm
I guess we might as well push the deadline off until March 31st then! I will get back in contact with James and try branching out on a few other sites. Maybe I'll try to get OCScottie to mention it in the Social Scoop. If we could donate a dollar for every click on this thread we would really do some good work. Here's the GoFundMe link again...
