Hello everyone, I have noticed that Christian never mentions his dad in his interviews or podium speeches. Did they have some kind of falling out?

I get the impression they're either not very close or he doesn't want to be known as Mike Craig's son and wants to make a name for himself.

When I talked to Christian after Anaheim 2, he said he wanted to bring his son up on the podium, like his dad had done with him back in the day.

I get the impression that they're not close, but it's not like it's a taboo subject.

He isn't proud of the lifestyle his dad lives. Sex, drugs, rock and roll etc. That is what I heard, but these are just rumors... Never heard it from a credible source.

I remember watching Christian at Loretta's when he was in supermini. I'm almost positive it was Mike, he was leaning over the fence yelling GO MF'er GO! It was quite comical cuz he was tore up causing a scene in front of everyone.

I think they were more than rumors...

I still have Mike Craig's sprocket hanging from a nail in the rafters of my garage.
It is literally the only thing I have ever kept, moto memorabilia-wise.

I just hope it doesn't fall on me...

I think Christian was pretty much raised by his mom and Mike didn't have much influence over the years. He had other things going on in his life. Whatever the case....Christian was raised the right way and seems to be one awesome kid. I'll also bet he becomes one hell of a dad. So getting more wins than his dad Mike , isn't the only thing he'll be beating him at.

That's all I'm saying....

Well...I didn't know him anything like what you and a lot of other guys did , so I'm not sure. I've met Mike a few times and one of those times was an hour long beer drinking / bullshitting conversation. He seemed like a cool dude , but I got the impression he had a fucking screw loose. I know back in the day , a lot of those guys liked to party like a rock star and I know Mike did , and the women came along with it haha. I'm not saying that Mike was a bad guy at all , as I didn't know him enough to even make that judgement. I had just heard through the years from people that did know him , he just wasn't around much. And this is just an assumption , but Christian's mom seemed good with it that way. But maybe I heard wrong. It's not really top secret stuff here , as a lot of people kind of know the whole story. As for me , I only know parts of it.

I think this thread's basis is why Christian doesn't bring up his dad very much. It's not a slam on Mike ( even though a little dirty laundry came out with it )....but the thread is more about Christian , then his dad. Mike wasn't around , either by his own will , or was kind of forced to stay away. BUT.....either way , look at how Christian turned out. I swear if I had a son.....that's the kind of personality I'd want him to have. I admire that kid.
