I'm taller and need a wider bar. I have the pro taper Windham bend but its not my favorite, is there a wider bar out there?

How tall are you? And I have a hard time believing you "need them". While sitting on the bike and holding the grips with your elbows up, do your forearms taper in or out?

Pro taper have the same width on all their bars (800).

Try Renthal.

(It took me approximately 20sec to find the info for this post by a google search)

I'm 6' which isn't super tall but it's taller than bikes are built for. I've found that the sweep is more critical than the width or height. I've always run the Windham bend and am comfortable with it. I like that they come up a little higher than whatever comes stock on the bike. I still feel a bit awkward when I stand. Kinda like I have to hunch over or something. I've gotten much better at standing and riding lately though. Maybe the CR High's would be better?

That's what I go for. I ran the Renthal 998 for over 10 years. Switched to 994 and it was a new world. Wider bar, less sweep and the same height. But I pull the bar back in the clamps and use the closer clamp mount. I like riding over my bars. I'm 6'1''.

In running the ktm bend renthals. Real flat and wide

I'm 6'2 and run the renthal 918's on all my bikes. On my 14 yz450 I moved the mounts to the forward spot but flipped them backwards and run the bars in a neutral position and they feel great for me.

So funny the differences between riding bikes and quads, I was 6'1 before I broke my back, so I've got long arms and legs, still use the smallest bars available. I like the quickness of them, short throw, gives me lots of control.

Call PC. Ask someone what bend Tyler Bowers runs. Run those. If it still feels awkward, its you. Adjust your technique until it becomes muscle-memory. Lot of newer guys chase set-up and ergos, but its really just using your wallet to compensate for bad technique. Not always. But a lot of times.

Can you elaborate on this? Is it better to have them tapered in or out, or maybe more of a neutral position? I have heard about that being an important factor in getting a bike to work with you and not against you but I cannot remember what is the ideal position.

Renthal RC bend 971. Flat and minimal sweep. My favorite at 6'2"-6'3"

From that chart i'd run the YZF bars... Not high, not swept, and wide... almost mountain bike bar like...

Then you can let your bar mount position and bar angle control position...

IN MY OPINION *** they should roughly be perpendicular to the bar. They should make a 90 degree angle from the bar to your forearm. This is to keep your wrists straight and matain as much natural postioning/strength as possible. If your wrists are bent in a resting position it could contribute to fatigue and arm pump while riding.

I've got a set of Renthal Twinwall 999 (McGrath/Short) that I would sell you for $65 shipped. Not bent, just wanted something alittle lower...

I noticed their sizes are different that the fatbar listed on their website. For example, the RC high fatbar is listed at 802 wide but the twinwall is listed at 812. But on bto they are the same (smaller). can anyone confirm they are the same size?

I fell into that trap too. R=Fer got a good point. Do some kettle bell swings and some deadlifts. Develop the strength and youll never notice the bar position

For the woods I used to trim my bars to 30", then added bark busters. ( which adds about 3/4" back ) Nowadays I go 31".

Exactly.
Least sweep available on the market.
I'm 6' and love these bars.
Bend at the waist, stay low, and enjoy these bars.

I rode a buddy's bike with trimmed down handlebars. I think he trimmed about the same amount as you and I felt like I was about to swap out the whole way around the track.

I usually trim an inch off each side of these to avoid having to run a wide load escort.

Loosen the throttle housing and move it out 25mm, stack ~10 quarters inside the left hand grip and re-glue. You'll be fine, honest.

I'm 6'3" and have a 2016 KX 450, which bars I really liked stock, other than they felt a bit narrow to me. I ended up with the Renthal Fatbar KTM high which I like and are a bit wider. If you really want to go wide, get the Renthal KTM 125SX fatbar - I ordered them and they felt weird to me though. The Twinwalls have some that are quite wide too (more options than the fatbar), but i wanted to try a braceless bar. Look at the Renthal site for dimensions. I know the classic Jimmy Button bend (7/8th only) is really wide and tall. As some others have said, KTM high's are great!
