I just don't care for some of the things he's done and said. The kicking a bike off the stand incident is one. While I can understand him being emotional, as an adult you shouldn't lose control. And then it was last year (maybe the year before) when he made an interview comment about having to "ride with the squids in the LCQ." I had two initial thoughts to that. Well, maybe three. The first was that it was a douchy thing to say. The second was it wasn't that long ago that he was a regular in the LCQ's. And lastly was that he managed to make it into the LCQ because he didn't make it through the qualifier or the semi. Fast forward to this year and you have the Friese incident. Again emotional, but a complete loss of control. It's not what I'd expect out of a professional.

Give him some more control over his comments, emotions and reactions and publicly he's a more likable personality. I wouldn't say I'm an "anti Peick" guy, just that I'm not whole heartedly behind him like some people here are. Maybe if I spent some time with him, I'd understand better and feel differently.

I haven't made it out to any races out in California, but I'd love to. I'd actually love to do some riding out there just to say I've ridden some of those glorious tracks!

He's no "cookie cutter", but that's pretty obvious. As far as the squids in the LCQ comment. I can understand your point, but it might have been pertaining to a couple select "squids" more than the entire field of the LCQ. Either way, his choice of words could've been better thought out. I am a LOT like him in that I speak my mind, without thinking first. I've said/ done a LOT of things in my life that I'd love to change. I wish I had the gene in me that could control my temper better, but I don't.... Sucks for me.

Weston is 25 years old and up until recently, hasn't had any kind of media/ on camera training. It's NOT an easy thing to do (being in front of the camera). Not giving excuses for his comments/ actions on camera, I'm sure he knows he could be more political, but I don't think it's his style. (Hence the haters) He shoots from the hip and speaks his mind, which has and may continue to bite him. In the meantime, he's gaining fans. Although not the same fans that Dungey, Canard or Seely are attracting, but non the less, a bandwagon full of fans that enjoy his style. Not for everyone, but hey... We are all different and we have a choice who we root for. PEACE Cool

I really can't see the fascination with this guy. He's not some hulking bad-ass, or Chuck Norris reincarnated ( as past threads have suggested ). He has never been a win threat, nevermind a title threat. ( unless you count overseas wins -Finland, Bercy - but that's not what we are talking about.....) He's a good rider who fades over the course of a series, a hot head who kicks his bike off the stand after an LCQ and who punches guys in the neck with their helmets on, he's a good rider with a bad attitude. And he's now 2 races down and $5000.00 poorer than he was two weeks ago.

Reed is........well we all know Reeds long list of accomplishments and contributions to the sport. Soo....can anyone tell me why he would be injecting Peick blood?

Not because they are worried about getting beat up, because he is a professional and has earned the respect.

To the clowns that keep bringing up the "kicking his bike off of the stand" incident, c'mon man, get over it !! He's passionate about racing and was bummed out when he thought he missed qualifying again from a bullshit transponder placement on the bottom of the jump, versus the checkered flag. Why is it that some of you guys/ girls get offended by this ? Have you NEVER lost your cool before and did something stupid or are you all fucking perfect ? I know I've done way worse things, but never got caught on camera doing them.

As far as the Friese deal.... Well, personally I LOVED it. Vince is and always has been a somewhat DIRTY / aggressive rider. He's done some dumb shit in the past that has brought on hatred from most of the other riders. He's deserved it...... Canadiens nationals come to mind !
Weston has came up as a solid amateur, but was never a stand out rider until he turned Intermediate and then won Lorrettas. He followed that up with a 9th at his first outdoor race (Glen Helen '09). So those of you that say he started as a nobody are wrong, 9th place in a 450 national is hardly a "nobody", but I guess being only 19 and not being a stand out qualifies him as "nobody"? He had several fill in rides and always gave his best effort, never giving up on his goals, never complainig about the bikes that everyone else was talking shit about. Because of his size (YES, HES BIGGER THAN MOST OF THE OTHER SX RIDERS), he wasn't looked at as a title threat and was over looked for the young kids that were being hyped up coming up from the amateurs. Meanwhile, he put his head down and kept racing and started training. He got himself into great shape and his results started to show his effort was paying off. Meanwhile, still being overshadowed by the guys up front and young kids coming up.

Fast forward to the present... He has gained a lot of fans that appreciate the hard work and also gained some fans that give him a bad rap with the dumb comments that some of you get tired of reading. I GET IT, I HATE READING THEM TOO !! That doesn't make it his fault, he's not the one self proclaiming to be a badass, give the guy a damn break already.

Shane- I know we've talked about this before and I respect your opinion and always like reading your posts/ texts. I'm usually always behind your opinions and can understand why you aren't a Peick fan, but I'd really like to have you come out and spend some time around him, I'm pretty sure you'd feel different about him. If you ever want to come out this way and do some riding or go to a Ca SX race/ Glen Helen, MXGP, etc, you have a place to stay and I will be glad to put you up/ show you around and give you a chance to form a fair opinion of him. @Shane and others...ive spent time with Weston and his dad Lou quite a few times too. That's why my opinion ( and Langhammx ) are the same. It's from actual experience. No matter what....you'll always have the haters and most of that comes from being completely clueless as to what kind of a person Weston is. Langhammx said basically word of what i would have said , and i don't know the Peick's near as good as he does. But i know them well enough to form an intelligent opinion.

BFD!!! he kicked his bike off the stand after a heated battle to qualify for the Daytona SX. Ever see a NHL goalie break his stick over the net when a big goal gets scored, baseball player break his bat, JS7 knock Chad's bike off the stand in the pits in front of everyone after a heated race?

I use to not pay WP any attention until Atlanta last year. While walking through the pits he walked right past me with his helmet on. I didn't recognize him cause he was very close in size to me. It wasn't until I turned and saw the back of his jersey that I realized it was him. I'm not a big guy. It made me realize just how strong this dude is to handle a bike like that.

Then, during the heat race, over a triple (which was about level with our seats) he scrubbed/past Reed. We were so close I felt like I could see the determination in his eyes.

Although I'm not a fanboy of his, I really do respect his talent and determination.

My dad watched the whole thing, first thing he said when he got to me was "NOW will you try roadracing?"

I see the word "classy" bandied about quite often by people on this forum. The question is, what do they mean by this? I see people using it a lot, but they do not seem to understand what it even means.

Besides, class is overrated. We are dirt bike riders. Not guys sitting around having tea in the garden dressed in doublet and hose.
