Who can beat Dungey (for the title)

Now that Dungey has the red plate I think it'll be hard for anyone to pass him in the championship, but anything can happen. It'll be tough for the competition.

Tough, but good question.... Dungey at the moment is the complete package, training, team, personal life....the man has everything in order. And stop with the RV2 shit.... He won the SX title fair and square in 2010 against him.....wasn't Dungeys fault he broke his leg.

Any of the Factory riders can beat him. Anderson did already after Canard pushed him wide. But for the title, I don't think so. He looks the strongest right now. Dungey was the fastest in first practice, won his heat, won the main in SD. I heard Ralph say this would be 17 straight podiums in a row. That is impressive.

Championship I'd say it's tough to bet against him. But I still think there are a handful of guys that can beat him on a single race weekend because Dungey knows when to take the second/third place over riding over his head to get the single win if he was to get a bad start or whatever the case may be.

He's the best bet for a championship this season though, no doubt.

Anderson, Canard, Reed, Stewart when he's back, Tomac obviously. Seely, Roczen. Basically a good handful of guys.

I agree Steve. Hoping that a few of these other guys realize the " consistent game " while running against a guy like RD is extremely important!. Ryan seems to always just be there...even on his bad nights. There are certain nights when other riders are just flat out faster than he is , and he just shrugs it off and takes his 2nd or 3rd. Seems like everyone has at least one , two or three bad races per season......RD always seems to have less than anyone else. That right there is the key.

I know it's only 2 rounds into the SX season....but holy smokes I think the outdoors are going to be crazy this year. Who freakin' knows!

Don't forget about Canard , Seely and Barcia as well. The fuse could get lit under one of those guys as soon as next weekend. I wouldn't count out James Or Marvin either!

Easy Jeffro, you gotta let the guys get through the next 15 rounds of injuries, red flag gate, black flag gate, suspension gate and well hell any other gate or scenario we can think of before you go wishing the outdoors was here.

RD5 is consistent no doubt, it's going to take someone willing to sacrifice going for the jugular one night to settling for a 2nd-3rd to be in it for the long run.

I just want good racing, I personally don't care who wins, and if someone gets booted off the track for a win, then bring that on as well.

There's lots of guys who can beat him to some main event wins, but whether anyone can do it consistently is the big question. I think I heard them say on commentary last night the Dungey has 12 races in a row finishing 2nd or better, that's phenomenal consistency. I hope a few guys can get it together and keep him off the podium a few times and keep this championship tight, but if Dungey racks up too many more wins early in the season then it's going to be very difficult for anyone to catch him

Well, I think Chad showed he's not dead yet, and he's close in points,
Tomac is working his way into race shape, yet still shows the speed, again, not far out in points,
Kenny, had a little bad luck, has speed, not far out in points,
I think Seely is playing the Dungey card, taking what comes to him early without screwing up his title hopes,
Anderson, well, no explanation needed,

Still a long season boys, and I'm even a fan of RD.

Dungey nor Anderson will have a easy run for the title, most remaining healthy, it will be a fight to the end.

I don't see how it's a vitard question. The guy who most people consider the title favorite just took the lead in points. Obviously it's a long season and anything can happen, that's what the discussion is supposed to be about. Either way, thanks for your input. I agree Anderson has put himself in a good spot to contend, especially when you consider he is trained by Aldon and on good equipment.

I'm gonna take a weird pick and say Seely. His first two rides as A1 and SD1 have made me think of Dungey's last year. Nobody talk about him, bu he's here, on the podium, 3rd in the points 1 behind and Anderson and 6 behind Dunge.

And you know what ? As well as Tomac, he has been off since 4-5 month at least, and he said himself he's not at his peak yet, he try to still be in the hunt before being at a 100% and fight for wins. He has got the whole package: smart, consistent, fast, good starter. He just need to get a little stronger physically to keep his intensity till the end of the race and he'll be up there every weeks.

Well if RV2 hadn't retired...just kidding. Just pulling from another what if retirement thread.

Reed's gonna keep getting better and Seely's going to keep getting good starts and gaining confidence. Think it's between those two to challenge Dungey for the next 15 rounds.
