You never forget your first. The smell alone of this bike alone got my heart rate up. This....this is cool.

I'd say it's a tie between my dad's old 2008 KX450F (first time on a 4 stroke and first time on a big bike) and my first bike. A 2003 KX100

Honda spree 50...flat tracking on the front lawn after watching Quads race the oval at Ascot on channel 56(?). Every weekend...good times

1989 yz80 here. First experience with a snappy 2 stroke at age 10. Very similar to this one.

Most memorable. Good thread.

I remember flipping out when I walked out to a pink pw50 Christmas morning. I drew pictures of dirtbikes, and all I talked about was dirtbikes. Mom took me to the mall and said tell Santa what you want. And I said "Santa just brings toys I want a dirtbike" My mom video recorded every race that year. The love for Mx started there! I cried when my parents sold it. But they told me I had to sell to get a cobra and couldn't keep every bike.

1982 RM250Z If you could not win races on that bike then you could not win races period. Honorable mention 1996 Yamaha YZ167 by RPM . Took a brand new YZ125 that was never even started and spent $1200.00 to have Rick Peterson bore and stroke it to a 167 super fun and super fast !

2003 KX500 because I didnt know traction could EVER be that hard to find with me weighing in at 300+ lbs back then. That bike made me feel like a little bitch that should ride a 50 instead!!!

1984 yamaha yz490.

I only rode it on a straight gravel road, but it was savage.
Wish I had a change to try it on the track back then..

1996 Honda CR500 on a deep sand track with huge elevation changes. That defined what motocross means to me.

My old man's 84 CR250. Man that thing's a beast. I still take it out every once in a while. I've never been beat to the first turn on it, and with the crappy brakes, I've never lead out of the first turn on it! But it's a blast to ride.

Not the best bike I've ridden, but the memorable one that burned into my brain was a lightened, piped and ported H3 Kawasaki. The 750 two stroke triple. It was a wicked fast accelerating scoot. And would get head shake at over a 100 mph. Scarey and exhilarating.

The best and memorable dirt bike was my 92 CR-250.

Hands down, a Yamaha RZ500 2-stroke. The thing came on like a light switch.

1998 KX80. I was just a kid who grew up on 4 strokes...first time hitting the power band was nothing short of awe inspiring.

The most memorable bike I ever rode was the an Italjet 50, because it was the first time I rode a motorcycle. I remember that day like it was yesterday, 5 years old in a field out by my house I rode it for what seemed like hours riding as fast as I could. I'm sure I wasn't going very fast, but it sure felt like I was hauling ass.

The second most memorable bike is probably more along the line of what the op was talking about, an 82 Honda RC 250, man oh man was that bike trick.

Within the first week of the 1974 CR125 release, I rode my buddy's on our local practice track.

That was pretty much life altering.

I rode Smail's '96 factory KTM 620 at Mammoth Mountain and it was the only KTM I ever thought was worth a damn before the 15.5FE.

The more you twist , the faster it went. Diesel power, not crotch rocket power and with the 50mm conventionals it felt like they were grading the track in front of me...

For me it was a 1984 KTM 495 back in 1984. I was 13 years old and didn't even own my own bike at the time, but was helping a neighbor and afterwards was watching him ride his KX 80 around the field. He let me take a spin or 2 when his uncle brought out this 495. Well I was pretty excited about this bike and if I remember correctly I asked him to let me ride it. He said if I could start it, I could ride it. Well I went and leaned the bike against the barn and jumped on the kick lever with all my body weight and it would hardly move. But I learned that if I got it to the compression stroke and with the lever all the way up and I jumped all my weight on it, it would kick over pretty decent. After a few tries I managed to start it, and true to his word he let me ride it around the field two or three times and then stopped me. I will never forget that day.
