FMF customer service is a joke.

I am having issue with the warranty department at FMF. I have asked for a manager on several occasions and the dumbass that answers the phone gives me the run around. The coupler that slides over the headpipe is too big and leaks like crazy which cause the bike to backfire. I have tried different sealants and nothing works. It leaks so bad it blows the number plate out. This isn't the first time I have had issues with their products.
In 2014 1.5 months before Lorrettas my baffle inside the muffler cracked. I called in and they told me they were too busy to have it done by LL and the rep suggested buying a new slipon. Which I did.
This is insane to me that their customer service is this poor. I have been a lifelong customer and buy a new bike every year (sometimes more ) and always put a FMF exhaust on my bikes.

Does anyone have a contact for someone that has power around there ?
I tried different avenues and to no prevail I get nowhere. I hate to make a thread but this is my last resort.

I made a similar thread about Gaerne when my Sg12's fell apart, I also used there boots since I started riding and have had several pairs. Well all I got was fiat rated and my new Tech 10's showed up yesterday.

sorry it's not the same part but the same kind of customer service - Shit !

I've always used pro circuit exhausts and never had a problem

You know what they say about doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result......

He gave my buddy the runaround also, after taking a month to fix a fmf problem, and 2 day shipping, took over a month to get it back, and the promised hats, tees, etc. Never showed up.

You might have a faulty product but I recently bought a slip on and there was a huge difference between the slip on pipe where it joins the header. I was debating filling it with high temp silicone sealant but it just seemed like it would be too much a difference. Luckily I noticed that hidden within the slip on pipe is another collar you have to reach in and pull out and that fits perfectly to the header. I couldn't find clear instructions about it either with the pipe or on the net but once I did that it worked fine and no leaks. If you don't have that extra collar then it may have fallen out during packing and you need a new one.

Try writing them a letter with your professional concerns in the mail. After all avenues have become exhausted then come slam them on a popular Mx site.

Sometimes the customer service people are kids/ignorant people. Once they're hired it's hard to get rid of them if they are bad. There's bad eggs everywhere. But I'm sure someone higher up gettin a physical letter in the mail will make them jump into action to make you happy especially since you're a yearly repeat customer.

I see what you did there.

I think this is ludacris, FMF has some of the best customer service out there. I had a pipe break at Freestone Pro/Am and the FMF rep replaced my silencer for FREE on the spot. Wish you the best of luck...

I have emailed them probably ten times and have called numerous times to follow up. I even messaged them on Facebook and asked for a managers name. Whoever runs the FB account didn't give me a name but assured me if I gave her my number a manager would call me but instead of a manager the same idiot called me that I have been dealing with.

Within the last 18 months this is the third FMF exhaust I purchased.

If I wasn't trying to sell the bike I wouldn't be so pissed off.

I think you just got someone having a bad day.

I had a more minor issue and FMF jumped right on it. I had a replacement in less than a week.

Hopefully they will get back with you and take care of the issue. Not many companies have been around as long as Emlers and I tend to dig what they do for the sport....2 strokes and all. Let them know they have a dicktard manning the phones.

It's FMF----'they are enthusiast who run a business to support their passion. If you saw them at the track, they would likely hand you a replacement off the truck, which they did for my son at Branson several years ago. Oh, and some stickers, hat, t-shirt, and umbrella----all of which they gave my kid (who wasn't top 10) just because his week was sucking and his pipe got crushed.

If they were businessmen, they would have sold to Parts Unltd. during their drunken buying spree years ago. The customer service may suck, and lil D needs to whip Malcom Mac's ass, but the sport is still lucky to have them.

BTW, I'm no great fan of the E Sr. for reasons going back to the late '70's, but I do respect their contributions to the sport.

I understand and I hate hearing that. I too asked for some assistance a decade ago with a product of theirs and found no one there willing to give up a few minutes of their time to measure an item for me to secure a $400.00 sale. Tried more than once. Their loss, not mine. I do understand that good help is hard to find and I also grow tired of people who aren't concerned with a trivial issue. Taking care of small issues for customers gains more loyalty and future sales than some advertising does.

Let's get you taken care of here my man! Unfortunately not everything can always be perfect. We all strive for the best but sometimes it just can't happen. On a lighter note we want to make sure you are happy at the end of the day and I will make sure we get you handled up to your satisfaction. I will send you a private message so we can get you squared away. Sorry it had to come to you posting this to get my attention. I try to be in the loop and help as much as I can. I can understand your frustration. I have been there with other companies and not trying to defend them but I've had great service from those guys via email and Lil D personally at the Mammoth MX race. Maybe your thread will help resolve the issue?

Just my .02 fmf pipes do make good power but the do have a lot of manufacture inconsistencies and on occasion less than par quality.

Next time a letter through the mail saves the company getting dogged....email is still an inconsistent format that doesn't require anyone to open it or read it. Atleast the physical mailbox doesn't direct your mail to the junk mail box or trash....

I've always had great responses from actually taking the time to type something up in business letter format and mailing to the business.

I can promise you that you'll have much better outcomes in any legitimate disputes you may have by not calling them or their employees dumbasses. People in position of power to get things like this done are much more willing to help if you're polite and understanding. I know we all have our moments and bad days but I don't think you're doing yourself any favors by calling an employee there a dumbass.

Post photos of what you're talking about any maybe somebody can chime in with a solution or fix. Did it fit properly before or did you just buy it? Can you not return it?

*edit* I didn't refresh the page to see that Donny had already responded to this so my post is now 100% worthless.

I work for a distributor and I am someone with power. If customer has gone through any trouble to get an issue resolved I am ok with them being an asshole. I have sent several emails, made phone calls and also kept track of the dates/times I called with the expectations of the phone call. I was promised numerous call backs. I was called back once and was given a run around about why they haven’t address my issue yet. When they called me back after I messaged them on FB the same rep that I have been dealing with promised me an email with a call tag /rma, 2 days later nothing. Beyond all this I asked for a manager of 5 different occasions and never got one. If a customer asks for me and one of my employees does not get that person to me they would get reprimanded immediately.

I don't usually post too much, but I have used FMFs products for 4 years now. In the past 3 years I have had 2 powerbomb headers break at the weld closest to the engine. And one midpipe mounting bracket come apart at the welds. Originally I thought I blew my 450, but then realized it was only another FMF header letting go. Was actually happy it was just that lol.

I sent 3 emails to FMF. One I included attachments which I read will automatically get deleted. The other two I didn't include anything. Didn't get a response, then 2 months later I wrote in another one, not nasty, but to the point. Had someone from FMF call me. Was a super nice guy, didn't really have anything useful to say or any help. Just to send em back. I told him customs and shipping from Canada is not even worth it. I had it re welded and just payed myself, and bought a few spare headers, wasn't looking for any compensation or anything. The welder said the welds were def suspect. My midpipe broke after a week. No crash, no over tightening on mounting bolt. Just came right off. There was hardly any penetration on them.

Lastly. FMF had the wrong part # for the 2016 kx450's and were sending out 2015 exhausts. I know this was an FMF error but they said it wasn't. Def not happy with how FMF has handled my problems when considering ive spent a few thousand. I think I still have a couple headers downstairs ill snap some pics of.

Post a reply to: FMF customer service is a joke.
