I noticed that this was a problem 10 years ago so I have been strategically keeping myself slow enough to be eligible for the +30B/C class...

the cost of going to lorettas to race c class seems crazy to me. most of the kids who have a legit shot at making something of the sport go right from 85s to b class and even then its a stretch for most. has a c class rider ever made got a factory ride

Jimmy Albertson has spent at least a little bit of time on a factory bike as well. Anyone know if Axell Hodges has any plans to go pro?

The problem is VERY easy to fix. If DC or the AMA would just think about it. One change to the rules and it is fixed...
The problem is VERY easy to fix. If DC or the AMA would just think about it. One change to the rules and it is fixed. Here it is, If you qualified in the "Area rounds" two times in a class (C or B ) and race in regional rounds, you move up even if you don't qualify for the national. BOOM! Problem solved
OR, if your times are fast enough to put you in the better than say 7th place of the faster class you get DQed and forced up. You can change what place of the faster class but really if your times show you would be competitive in the faster class....

Sandbaggers Supreme!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

They are only holding themselves back from getting faster by riding in the slower class. Who gets faster riding with people equal to or slower than themselves? You HAVE to ride with people faster than you to get faster.

Here's an interesting tidbit. LL's didn't have a C class for the first four or five years.

People have different goals. I imagine (I would fit in this group) that some just want to go for the experience and see how they stack up against the top of their class. Their goal and reasoning for spending the $ isn't for a pro contract. We new I wouldn't go pro, but that didn't stop my parents from supporting me and sending me to the races.

If we want to talk about crazy cost to go somewhere lets talk about Disney World! How many people that went to Disney World ended up becoming a cartoon?

Now that last part is funny, Mr. Panic Rev!

Did you know they have new machines there at Disney World now? When you're walking out of the exit, two metallic claws shoot out and grab you by the ankles. They flip you upside down over a hopper and shake out any change you many have left in your pockets. True story.

have you ever watched go pro videos from c class at loretta's bikes are flying everywhere , most c riders have only been riding for 2-3 years and they don't have the skill set needed to compete on that level yes it is a class and a champion is crowned but we should keep c class at smaller nationals like millcreek ,freestone, and mammoth

I searched 125 c LL & this came up.  Maybe I,m wrong but to get sponsor help it seems like you hv to race LL. If your gonna race why not get some help.   I checked 125c & 50+ class lap times . 4th in 125c would be 4th or 5th in 50+.  Brown,Emig, Barry take them out & a 125 c rider Wins against 50+ 450,s.  Aprox 12th the last 3 laps the 50+ riders lap times fall off.  125 c at LL is fun to watch they race hard , just throw it in there & Go for it.  A lot more fighting for position , trying to pass , riders going down. Etc.  125 b/c hv faster laps than 40+ , 50+ .   You can race 125 c & 50+ correct ? Has anyone ever done that ?  Wi. Doesn’t hv 50a, 50b just 50+ there fast . No 125 c but a 125 class it’s fast too. Probably can’t race 40b then.

Holy resurrected thread!!!

Observations on a 17 year old thread.....

Not much has changed....

Slow old guy is now "the man"... Don't fight the man...LOL

Refreshing to read a thread without politics for 4 pages...opppps....

Hope the op Bad Brad is still following moto.... He was a District 9 hero back when open face helmets were the norm.

Dude could tear up some shit.

I remember at snake creek he broke down, and the leader Marvin Mcdaniel (?) was so far out front he stopped and gave Brad a ride up the hill.

Good times

Yes the same idiots are scrubbing all the jumps and running the fastest line in c class locally. There needs to be more black flags

02 or 03 had Jeff Alessi & Michael LaPaglia signed up for C class after just destroying everyone at Ponca the week prior.

At the 11th hour MXSports stepped in and DQ'd them as they had factory support (Jeff with Honda, Michael with Suzuki).

Ironically that was the same year my brother made & was also DQ'd due to a parent bringing a cycle news from 2000 with results that showed he has raced for 2 years and a month, therefore was ineligible.....That parent had a few other kids DQ'd as well. If I remember correctly, every single alternate that showed up to LL's got a spot on the gate that year due to the amount of DQ's.

The C class will always breed a top 5 that clearly isnt C caliber, but pop's wants to be able to say "my kid won" or "my kid got on the podium"....its how its always been and I dont see it ever changing.

Ever search a subject current stuff in usually not there. It’s the same class same race.  Kids living at training camps 125 c is pretty fast.  I 58 yr old racing a 04 21 yrs since the last cr125 championship with Tara Gieger.  With the same engine spec + a little extra minus the 2 mm stroker crank I think she ran.  So my bike is quicker. Kinda of interesting where I would be.  Love tight technical rough tracks .  Storm lastnight was brutal high winds made it more fun.  Sponsors kick in 1,500 for a top 10.   I would  make more than racing 40A with 4-5 guys.  Be like Emig with his 10 commercials filming at the gate.  All I hv to do then is get a 10th & get paid and hv a blast going it.  I watched a helmet cam 125 c easy to b in 5 th get caught behind a rider crashed in a rut . Then 9th then again to 16th, etc.

I was at an arenacross event this year in the Midwest and the 250 beginner class was faster than the B class. The winner jumped everything the pros did and skimmed the woops perfectly. I guess you better be real fast if you want to race C now.

I saw that to the last time i went to one.

Every year c class qualifiers are posting lap times in the top 10 of A class and top 5 of B class.

The last LLQ I raced at Byron 2 years ago the C class top 8 would have pushed from 2nd place to 10th out of qualifying in 250A. 1st and 2nd would have been A riders then 3-10 would all have been 250C riders.

All they have to do is make it to where if your lap times during practice are within the top 10 of the next class you're bumped up. If during a race you would have finished top 5 of the next class your DQd. Everyone's running transponders so easy fix.
