LL C class is a joke

Guys are flying and jumping everything. Lap times as good as some old pro's. Track was dressed but still not a real C class.

I don't think that is anything new, or even exclusive to Loretta's. I don't know much about the rules for classes or even about the details of the qualification process, but I would assume if they could filter the classes better, MX Sports would. I think it falls on the integrity of the rider.

I am not familiar with the rules, but if the rider races in B or A class locally they cannot race Lorettas in the C class correct?

I like the John and Ryan Dowd approach. Anybody else read his Racerx wherearetheynow article and agree with what they are doing?

I'll repost this from the other thread:

Okay so this topic has bothered me for years. Yes there is a lot of sandbagging in the C class.

A "friend" of mine used to race, he started racing probably 5-6 years before I started. His dad owned a local track in my hometown, so I rode and raced there when I was just starting out on 80's. He is 5 years older than me so he was on big bikes by the time i started racing. He raced the pro class at his family track (not many "pros" showed up, maybe 3-5 at most, he was a pretty fast rider at his own track, so of course, no one beat him and his dad never had to pay out).

He did not race AMA for probably 5 years while his family owned the track. Well the track shut down, so he started racing a AMA district races here and there, which he signed up for the B class. He hoenstly could have made it to Loretta's in the B class then, if he had solid motos. He crashed a lot when under pressure though, so not sure. Well anyways, he had a knee injury and only rode at his practice track for about a year. Well he decided to make a grand comeback and race Loretta Lynn's in 2006. Well guess what class he signed up for?? Yep 250C. I was astonished. He had been riding pretty steady for approximately 15 years at that point. And had raced local pro class for 5 years and district B class for probably 1-2 years off and on.

Well he made it to Lorettas and didnt even get top 10 in the C class. I think he got away with it because: 1) he sucked so bad so no one even cared to question it and 2) he was "adopted" by his step dad at like age 24 so he changed his last name to avoid any heat. He really thought he was going to go win Loretta's C class and gain a bunch of sponsors.

I think people will always sandbag just to make it to the big show. But the people who plan to actually go somewhere in the sport, will want to move up and keep progressing.

If you cant jump all the jumps you are not a C class rider, you are a D class rider.

I just think the sport is going away because of the people in it today.

Thanks. Reason I ask is if they were unable to race at a higher local level then I could see why so many people would have issue with it as it would encourage sandbagging at a local level and therefore actually affect them. You are saying that isn't the case so it is a non-issue.

Sorry I just lost control after watching this on my computer.

I believe the blame falls on local racing sanctioning bodies and districts for not enforcing or for that matter even having a points afvancement system to promote riders to the next class. Far too arbitrary in my opinion.

I think it's simple , National Championships should not be handed out to any beginner riders.

Have a class but lets not call it a Championship. give them all participation medals.

This does encourage sand bagging at local events. You will have career C riders that just want to stay in the class to try to make it to LL. I was a C rider once. I promise, it happens!

Most people do not race pro or B class locally and then race C at a regional or national level. And by most people I mean 99%. Once you move up a class you should not be able to move back down.

The thing that made laugh the most at Lorettas so far is Sebastien Tortelli being in a group named 'junior' and not even winning it. The classes do seem a little wacky, but then again I don't fully understand how the amateur system works in America

the local c class rider can not ride or train for 2 months and still do ok in a race. its great. thats why people who are serious about racing usually will go for making it to the ranch at least once. if they ride b at there local tracks they will get grief from everyone when he races the qualifiers in c. the op is obviously new to competitive racing

Lets just give everyone a first place championship trophy and all will be happy happy happy. That sounds as stupid as giving everyone a trophy for just coming out to play baseball. Line up America everyone deserves the same right.

You're obviously a C class hero.....hence all of the beginner butt hurt talk. Bottom line is that the C class was intended for people new to the sport....Not people who started racing when they were 4 years old and travel around the country in their diesel pusher hitting all of the biggest races so they can beat up on the real beginners.

If you've been racing for 10 years cut the cord and move up to B and maybe justify the 5 bikes and 100,000$ rig.

So EK it doesn't take skill to jump then.

Absolutely, if a kid has been racing several years He is no beginner.
