There are hack shops out there no doubt, but you sound like you have been taken advantage of by one of these shops. If you dont do your research and just buy a gimmick or go to the Johny come lately shop, you are much more likely to end up with this opinion or just suspension that you dont like on your bike. I have been going to the same suspension guy for 10 years (Dan Moore at EVO Industries), developing a relationship with your guy can be key as well.

Honestly, I'd go with the best revalved shock of your choice. The 15 Homda shock is made from really good hardware.

Speaking of MX-Texh Huck Valves, I follow 707 Suspension on FB & IG. They posted their new Huck valve recently that's built by Mx-tech, 707s design. I'm not familiar with it, is it part of a "kit" suspension set up? Or is that all you need? He said you can run it super plush with awesome bottoming resistance.

Also, can I add Huck Valves to my WP forks & it'll make all the difference? (14 350exc). I just got the works done from Konflick Motorsports & Suspension Inc. Love my set up, just curious if later on I could add Huck valves to see how they feel.

I got full set of Öhlins from my 2015 model. They are just another level at track even KYB stock is good.
WP Conevalve/Trax, KYB kit PSF-air or maybe even Showa kit is your other option.
Had set of WP Conevalve/Trax on my KTM and they are maybe even better than Öhlins im now
running. Öhlins have softer movement at first but WP have best bottoming resistant feeling.
You can get Öhlins cartridge kit (internals) for KYB around 1000$ and shock is about same if
you dont wanna spend too much.

Yeah I have a guy that does a really good job and comes out and sets it all up for you it's about $3500, but looking for sort of the next level stuff.

That's why I am looking at a few options, the Tung with getting ohlins which is a option is once you get it you still have to have it set up or do you give them your details they set it up and send it to you.

$3500 will get you full gold valve revalve springs DLC on the rods and Kashima tubes, axel lugs and shock body.

Keep in mind also $3500aud is not $3500usd, so $5000usd second hand "a" kit would still cost $7500aud I know crush is Aussie but can't see the location of others on my phone.

That's sounds about right for cost assuming it includes the shock as well if you want to convert your stock KYB into essentially the factory kit, $2500usd. That goes back to people spending money on what they want. If you don't want to buy the complete factory kit set up it's right about $2000 for Kashima fork tubes and shock body, DLC sliders and shock shaft, factory 48 click compression adjusters and 48 click shock clevis and works bumper kit. That's all new parts from KYB, not your parts coated from random coating facility. If you take out all the Gold Valves that aren't necessary, he's right there at 2k.

So $6500 to buy KYB kit set up from Techincal Touch etc... or $2000 to convert into basically the same thing.(this was pre air fork)

Yeah the costs all sound ok, I just reckon starting with SSS you'd be crazy not to at least try the cheaper option. They're really good and the 4 dudes we ride with on Yamaha love them... Some had work, some just played with clickers... one has a KTM and says the suspension is way nicer/comfort etc... 1 has played quite a bit, two stock.

I tried revalve on my KTM, ended up going to ohlins shock and inserts on nothing more than it was the fucking deal of the century. 1Grand for both! Happy as...

I had Gold Valves in my 06 300, all the same people's gear in the back. Glad I didn't pay for it though! That's a dickload of money!

^^^^I recommend anyone thinking about KYB factory forks to buy, buy, buy! That price is so far under retail pricing it actually is below dealer cost. Unless of course KYB dropped the price $1500 dollars since 2014.

ive had wp with huck valves, ohlins with huckvalves, and the 15 model conevalves done by powerband, Ive had my time with huckvalves their good but no where near the cv. I wasted so much $$$ playing with the hucks trying to get them set up right its crazy. (more so with the ohlins) my honest opinion is to sell the wp to offset the cost of the conevalves and you ll be the happiest.

I can appreciate that; BUT!

Most of us would be soooooo better off just sending our stuff to a guy like you and going to the track, with you, to help us sort out settings and our KNOWLEDGE.

Stock components are awfully damn good; but, they're far too often set-up for very fast and aggressive riding. Someone, like you, knows that -in most cases- a slight change in parts and probably some different spring-rates will fix things right up.

If a rider were out at Pala or somewhere-else in SoCal and they see Micheal/ML512...have a talk with him...he can tell you about back-to-back testing where well built stock suspension has worked as well as most of the crazy-expensive-stuff. In his case it's probably gonna be KYB stuff...he was one of their "Test Mules". Me? PC & WP have both built stuff for me that's crazy-good & based entirely on production parts. The PC KYB forms of literally UNBELIEVABLE and...they're "Air".

Note: there's a "Brain Trust" of Suspension Gurus in here. SlipDog-Brian and ML512-Micheal are 2 of'em that I know & trust.

*PC KYB Forks have all of thier machined bits and replacement parts; hence, the term "based on stock". Someone might chime in about the price of those parts. No worries, I'm worth it. Same goes for the cost of a WP revalved set of forks. The KXF used PC link-arms, too.
