that's Jerry Robin's bike. gonna be hard to get that much as people who would buy a bike like this would usually want to do the restoration work themselves just my .02

I am the opposite.. looking for a vintage bike (79 to 82 yz) but have zero time to search for parts or do the wrenching.

Where does the line start from where a bike goes from just being old to "vintage"? I personally have no desire for a 30 year old bike but if that floats your boat and if this is a hard bike to find(idk??) then $2kish.

BTW, I'd give $2,500 for it. Nostalgia reasons. My first race was on board an '86 CR 125. I would just want an original seat with stock graphics.

Yup, and it was a 250 not a 125.

So what kind of aftermarket power bands are we talking about here ? Full 100 % rubber ? Or more like a fan belt with polymers ?

Come on down to Addison VT [when it dries out] and ride my '83 r480. It might surprise you how well a 32 year old bike goes.

That bike will be sitting for a long time at that price.

As a restored bike, realistically it's in the $1,300-1500 range. What they are asking seeems a bit nuts to me.

Most asking prices on the vintage swap meet site are worse than that.

Give that initial ad guy break. He's had the "FRAM" off for restoration.

That era cr is getting popular so I would say around $1800 if it's been done right. The guys choice in stickers after a restoration doesn't give me a good feeling. The first thing to check is the right side clutch cover. They are magnesium and most are rotted away. That's a hard piece to find and if it's the stock one, there is a good chance it's been epoxied. Go over to the old school moto forum here on vital and you will get loads of info on that bike. I bought a pretty clean 86 a year ago that runs great for $500. It did need the side cover replaced and I got it from a guy in Australia. Not a cheap part.

This was the first new bike I purchased, $1750 out the door. Should have kept it and doubled my money lol

86 & 87 are very good year's for CRs. If it looks as good in person, 2k is reasonable. Stickers may be hiding bad plastic, but they come off.
