Of course the four Japanese brands would squeal like pigs if anyone tried to do a comparison with their 450's.
Would be cool, just for that reason alone.
edit: just looked at your sig more closely and saw your KX500af project, did you ever finish that sucker?

me and my buddy bought our 14 250SX's at the same time, now mines a 300SX i can easily compare it to his. and another friend has a 91 CR500 ive ridden.
the 500 of course likes to be ridden easy, a gear high, and rolled on the throttle. my 300 is a screamer. of course, it can be tamed down with green PV spring, 36mm carb, and a flywheel weight to be way more tame. but it will never come as close as a 500 to luggable.
still working on the 500AF! but will update that thread tonight, have some cool new parts. Sadly im doing so many innovative crazy things to that project the timeline is huge, but i'm trying to get her wrapped up!

If you are going to rub it in about your growing ratings and sales in the market and how popular the two-strokes are why not show the Japanese manufacturers how big the wish for open class two-strokes are as well.
We can always dream.
i dont even want to know what kind of power they could put out with current technology and engineering into a 380 to 500 2 stroke. it would be insane.
the engine in my 500AF is TWENTY FIVE YEARS OLD and should be putting north of 60HP and do a top end every 5 years haha. just think about that for a second.
A softly tuned 360-425cc 2 stroke fits the bill.
I have a fully built 314CC KTM now and it runs like a strong 450 (dyno verified) but I'd prefer a factory built large displacement bike that doesn't require 116 octane to make the power and stay together. Plus I want the new chassis.
You know, age groupers who have the $$$ to spend on the sport.
Keep the 125
Replace the 150 with a 200
Replace the 250 with a 300-350 and then lobby the AMA to allow the displacement into the 450 class. Same with the 200, try to get it allowed in the lites class. Let's face it the 250t is pretty much classless now days.
Pit Row
Let alone a 125 two smoke.
Would fit in the lineup perfectly.

New cases, crank, cylinder, pipe. Use the gearbox from the 450 to save on new parts and you're in business.
Heck, with today's technology there are literally thousands of people that could CNC machine and/or print virtually everything to make their own big-bore pinger.
