I was so pumped when they showed him come out on TV then they didn't even show him riding it! What a let down!! One hot lap is all I wanted to see all night! Angry

OHHHH yes it did happen, I was there and it gave me goosebumps!! You couldn't hear the bike all too great, but when he blipped the throttle over a small double, it was the best sound I have ever heard

Two Two Motorsports posted a short video on FB. Shows a tiny bit more than TV did, but not nearly enough.

I was there and it was so sick but the music was so loud you could hardly hear it but it was still so sick seeing it.

Kudos to Chad for doing that, thanks for keeping it real. The retro 4 strokes looked great as well, although I think a green frame would have been better than black. Wink

I was wondering about the reaction of the stadium as a whole. If you were there, what was it like when the 2-stroke came out?

You have to actually attend races to know that. Attending a race would require coming out from behind the keyboard, not possible for most here.

Opening ceremonies have lost their pop with no KDUB, no hot laps, and guys just rolling around the exterior of the track on the plywood waving at the fans like some local Squash festival beauty queen.

There is definitely room for improvement here.

I look at it as leveling the playing field and taking away a preview of how the track changed from the end of practice after it was freshenend up. Besides, it got to where no one was adding any style or whips.

lol it would be wayyyyyyy to sketchy doing a hot lap during opening ceremonies with how dark it is and fireworks and lights going off haha.

When chad came out on the two stroke that stadium went nuts, I have a video on my phone but it won't let me upload it directly to the forum. And the only rider who got to do a hot lap was Nick Wey, he rode 2 laps with a mic hooked up to him before opening ceremonies.

Long time lurker here so guess it's about time I contribute something. I was in industry seating for the chad Reed intro so not the best video ever but video and sound none the less. Oh and sorry about being vertical, never planned on it to leave my phone. http://youtu.be/Sq2_unM4YBw

Yeah I'm sure that one lap makes all the difference... lol

Ah... so long are the good ol days where riders were allowed to have fun and throw some style out for the crowd. Reed actually said if he had a bit of seat time on the 2-stroke he would have hit a triple or two... and he still wanted to, but his team talked him out of it.

He occasionally hits A jump, but it's far from a whole lap. The wheelie on the Start straight? That doesn't count. Smile

Looks like the bike got some TLC on it's weekend at the TwoTwo semi, bet the dude was pretty pumped!

Reedy's comments in the pulpmx after race interview was funny, said the 2 stroke felt normal after just doing that, then he felt funny on his 450... Bet the two stroke guys miss it sometimes!

I bet that thing sounded glorious. If they do a retro race next year I think they should require everyone to race 2-strokes for that round, not just run retro graphics !

True. But that's so he can demo a lap, and make the stadium echo, and make everyone go, "What did he say?" Wink

What would that accomplish? I mean, other than making you chub up? Laughing

You know what would be cool, having a top ten qualifying shoot out to kick of the rider introductions.

Take the top ten from timed qualifying in the SX class only.

Then introduce them from 10th down to 1st in qualifying order and the intro becomes the final qualifying session.

What better way to kick off the show than having the fastest ten riders all lay down 1 "HEATER LAP" in front of the crowd. And introducing the riders at the same time.
