Alph has a bunch of pics from pit bike races back in the day. Maybe he will bust some out in his spare time.

On this exact day for several years I was scrambling to make sure things were ready for that event. So glad to not have that pressure now.......but I would do it again in a minute if the chance comes.

A lot of credit goes to Buydos for pushing me to do it and for getting the industry support that we had. It seems like his name isn't mentioned often enough when the pit bike racing subject comes up.

Some epic battles took place on that track.

Buydos is definitely the Godfather of Pitbike Racing. I remember going to my first race at Trevor Vines' House. I didn't know anyone there but they took me in and got me hooked. Had some great memories and met some awesome people racing pitbikes. I do have a ton of pictures from that era, wrote a boatload of race reports as well. I should write a book!

Somewhere I have videos and pics of the first races Rob held at "Mortgage Mountain" (his backyard) from 00' to 02' (I think), a Motoword segment from a race at Steel City on the Saturday night before the national, and some other one off races from that era (at Gary Semics place in Lisbon, halftime of the FMX show in Cleveland, etc). I'll have to see what I can find. The first mini race they held at Trevor's doubled as my last so I'm not sure I'd have any footage of you if one of Trevor's was your first.

Our club in California recently created a "2x4" class. The only rules are air cooled, four-stroke engine, max 230cc. You can do anything else you want: disc brakes, modern chassis...anything. I have been doing it for nearly two years and have had a blast.

I had to have one of these when they came out... Great Engine, but that was about it. We bought it from the shop that was supporting me when I rode GasGas, and they had to get me another set of forks pretty much a couple of days after riding it. You'd compress them and they would stay compressed. Same with the second set... Bike sold.Laughing
I have an 06 thumpstar 125 and I have totally ringed the piss out of that motor and it's still running strong. I have been REALLY hard on it, I'm honestly surprised the thing hasn't totally grenaded yet.
But like you said the suspension is garbage.
KLX110 is next on the list.

I hate to bring up an old thread but I didn't want to start a new one just for a picture of a kick ass pit bike...

Mongoose BMX frame with a Yamahopper motor and drive train. 60cc big bore cylinder, KTM pipe, custom reed cage and 19mm carb. It's totally obnoxious.

Lately the trend with me and my buddies has been to take it way back to the early form of pitbikes.
We've been just putting a few comfort/controls type parts on them and leaving the motors alone. No real jumps, and just wear in a turn track wherever. May be slow, but its competitive for almost everyone and an absolute blast! We've mostly been riding them in a little 1 acre backyard in a city they live in. No one can hear them over the highway noise either, so its a win all around!
That's why it was fun! Pit bikes were ruined when it turned into a competition. Slow bikes railing corners while banging bars with your buddies is where it's at.

That is very sweet! I love the seat, fat tires and the wooden stand.
