Is everyone really this upset? The poor bloke is only trying to do what is best for his health, and hopefully be back for SX 2015.
If he raced the Nats, then missed SX 2015, this crap would be delayed until then.

Man oh man, Stewart, Dungey, and a top young 250 rider .... in Latvia for the MXdN. Kongols is going to go apeshit.

At the end of Bob Hannah's career, Decoster saw fit to toss him on the team, due to a "movement" started within the industry. I think The Man and Bubba need to look past their differences for one freaking race this September.

I have to guess that RV had to have a reason for misleading everyone despite the overwhelming evidence that he wasn't going to go outdoors. I also have to believe it is not a reflection of him personally. Lots of cash and contracts and arrangements at stake here. In the end it is too bad he isn't in the series. He is the man right now, no doubt about it.

Looks bad on him, how he handled it. I don't see the harm in blaming his knee weeks ago. Maybe he didn't want the pressure for the rest of the sx season.

Well it's a long shot, but maybe his competitiveness will make him want to race MXDN, and he race a nat or two, or even a GP to prep for it. That would get the fans talking, but i'm sure he doesn't care about the fans.

Why would he let his competitors know he was injured? I heard his knee was a source going into Toronto and when he made his run through their so called health system I assumed it was that and food poisoning was not the real issue. I was also one of just a few that cringed when James drove up into him for that Toronto pass and win. I figured after that one Ryan would just ride it in for his 4th. But then he led the last 80 laps. I say well played Ryan, get that knee worked on and go after 5 in a row and another outdoor title next year. He's still young, but there's so many distractions, injuries and hours into rehab and training... Yes Crazy money, but the reality of the circus never lets up.
MC, RC, KW and even Iron Mike stepped out of series to extend their careers. Fuck the Vitards, they're not sweat on any one of their balls.

I agree totally, remember the honor it represented in the early 80's when Johnson, Ward, Bailey, O'Mara etc were chosen, now those guys were soldiers and treated it as it should be treated with honor respect and dignity! These days the riders don't treat it that way it seems IMO

Totally agreed. Now some riders value their "down time" more than making a showing for the country they are privileged to live in. There seems to be a lack of integrity and patriotism now that has festered now for several years...

I like MXdN as much as the next guy, but we're typing about opting out of a motorcycle race, not desertion before the Invasion of Normandy.

All of the USA MXdN teams from the 80s were completely awesome, all over my bedroom walls, and absolutely nothing like a soldier. At all. No need for the hyperbole.

Soldiers? They ride fucking motorcycles bro...0.5% (probably less) of the people on this planet can name 5 Moto riders. In the grand scheme of things it's not that big of a deal.

I never compared the riders to soldiers. Please read the entire post. The only reason for a country to boot up the money and the team for a race like the MXoN that is based solely on patriotism and pride of country is just that...patriotism & pride of country. It doesn't pay points. It isn't part of a championship. There are no factory contract win bonuses at stake. It's just based on wanting to do your part to be a part of a winning team. Nobody bitches about "having" to go race in Euro SX events during the off-season. Why? Because they pay a ton of start money...and more for a win against riders who not in most American SX riders' league. But...ask some riders to participate in a race that is solely based on honor of country, and...not so much interest anymore, where in the past most riders jumped at the chance.

To me...that's a shame. That is all.
