BT101. One of a few guys to keep RV honest the whole season.

And before you jump, I'm talking about AMA Champs. Nothing else matters.

Everts. He should have crossed the pond to attempt to win a real championship. Same with Cairoli and Herlings. I guess winning In the GP's pays better than 4th-10th in the states though.

125 National titles count as major titles.

Yes he won the '00 championship, then started crashing in SX in '01 when he started out on a 250 out west. That carried over through out the season and led to a "what could have been" IMO

Bradshaw. He beat RJ in one of his first pro races in, I believe Japan. Many people expected numerous championships from him.

Me neither. Just about everybody considers a 125/250f nationals as major titles. Maybe the thread should have been titled "Best Rider Who Never Won a Premier(450) Championship"

What role did 4 strokes have in Travis giving up racing? I didn't realize that was a factor

He was still competitive up through 2005 when everyone was still on two strokes. He gave it up after that and never made a push to adapt to the 450.

If you watch any of TP's very limited appearances on a 450, you can see his style definitely did not gel with it in the same way. No doubt he would have figured it out still if he wasn't so torn up/over it.

Reynard, Windham and Lusk. Those would be my 3 picks.

Just my opinion, Travis was unreal on his RMs. I just never saw that kind of aggression and man handling of a 450. Therefore I think the four strokes contributed to his poor racing results.

As much as I want to say Windham, It has to be Bradshaw in 92 he was usually much faster than Stanton and JMB, If it wasn't for a few bone headed moves in the season he would have had 10 plus wins and the title but instead he won 9 races and no title, but if you watched that season he was far and away the best and he wasn't on the all conquering Honda. Bradshaw and Windham are in a league of their own as far as AMA.
