1985 cr500 that was max ported, max overbored and ran on alcohol. It was really a joke how fast it was and wasn't something you'd ride on a mx track.

Runner up was a 1978 or 79 Husky 390cr full factory European GP bike. I don't know how people were expected to ride an open class chainsaw with wheels. Once it was rolling, it was too much engine for the front end to stay down no matter what gear it was in. It was stupid violent horsepower. Twist and pray.

I'm in the process of building what I'm hoping is going to be the fastest bike I've ever owned. 2001 Cr250 with the motor done by Bondi Engines, V-force reeds, Gnarly pipe, powercore silencer, kehien pwk carb, 12 oz. flywheel, hinson clutch... haha I hope because I'm getting close to buying a new bike dollar wise!!!

I had a 1994 CR500 that was amazing on the sand. The power could be used there - not a great thing for me to ride on the dirt. I had a spare ring for it . . . looked like a hula hoop.

Other than that, I had a 1998 YZ250 with a long-rod kit. If by "Fastest" we mean powerful, and then if we are talking useable power - that was the machine.

Fastest mx bike I've ever owned was my '05 ktm 525 sx..,...could holeshot 90% of the time on that thing.....would be a handful after a few laps though,
Fastest bike I've ever ridden was a hayabusa. Pure speed.

89 KTM 350. Not the fastest or most powerful bike but definitely the most violent hit of any bike I've ever ridden. I don't know how much horsepower it had but it used every damn one of em in about a 500 rpm spread. Everyone who ever rode that bike got spit off hard at least once.

Props to you dude.. I would go that fast on four wheels but never on two. Shoot it blows my mind the desert guys run 100 MPH plus!

BTW did you ever have a moment or moments riding that thing?
Not really, it was a very easy bike to ride I thought.

They warned us about turn 9 at Willow before the one track did that I did... yeah, very easy to go off there. Almost ended my day a couple times!!!

Dirt- FE550 Husaberg.100mph dirt bike stock.Easier to ride than the 450,same weight, lotsa torque,2 gear bike on the track-liked to overheat in the woods though....

Street-Suzuki RF 900-current street steed.

The power mixed with the shitty forks ended my big bore days and nearly my life!
Had a 1990 model myself. They didn't improve the forks any for that year. They would work OK most of the time, but once in a while they would lock up on a small bump, and feel like they were going to break my wrists. Automatic holeshot machine though. Put 'er in third for the launch, then hit fourth about 50 feet out.Smile

2012 S1000RR.

Fastest bike in this thread; and fastest bike I have owned.

It was a handful on the track, and I only owned for for 6 months before selling it. The suspension was horrible.
How was it on the street?

My R1 at a track day in Michigan

Fastest motor would have likely been Michael Byrnes old bto rmz450 that my buddy bought. I'm of a smaller build so I still think a 250 sized motocross bike suites me for better overall performance on a mx track.

My 05 GSXR 1000. When I went to see how fast it would go, the last time I looked at the speedometer it was over 180. Those aren't totally accurate, but it was still hauling ass.

Funny that in all the mentions of 450-500cc bikes you would mention a blueprinted '96 Honda CR250. That would probably rate for me too, at least one of the top 2-3. I had a '96 250 with the motor cleaned up & matched, that was freaking amazing...much better a bike than I was a rider for sure! It would run with most any modern 450 that I've ridden.

Road bike: 1993 Yamaha TZ (not YZ) 250 roadracer. High-sided in a sweeper at about 70mph at the local road course. Nearly killed me.

MX Bike: 1979 Canned-ham MX5 250. Like trying to ride a bull on speed.

Most power on the track I had ever had under me was a slightly modified KTM 520. Also rode a basically brand new CR 500 back in the day ( I think 2001 and a before that a 1993 )

03 YZ450F for dirt. I always thought those motors were crazy good imho. I once rode a CBX that got my attention, but I don't have the same level of street experience that many on this board have.

Riding my uncle's YZ490 when I was 14 was scary fast. Of bikes that I've owned, old skool was my 2002 RM250 (although I imagine it seemed faster at 18 then it would today), new school, my 2011 KX450F. I hadn't ridden a 450 until I bought one new and it was pleasant surprise. Cool thread.

Dirt, my '01 CR500 with port work, carb swap and a pipe.
Street, '02 Hayabusa. Exhaust, +2 rear sprocket, couple other little things.
