Where Reed killed the competition tonight

Edited Date/Time 1/19/2014 9:48am
In the whoops & on-off section at the start of this clip. He was the only rider I saw head to the left in the whoops.. didn't pick up on what he was doing till a few laps in.. he was killing it here. So reminiscent of 2012 reed.

"You're slow like JT!" That's too funny.

I didn't get the chance to watch it, so I hope someone gets it on YouTube soon.

I haven't watched the race yet but the lap chart says Reed got his lap time down below 52 on lap 17? he was the only one to have a sub 52 sec lap in the main, and it happened at the end, wow.

Holy crap the old man still has it in him

Yeah he rode like a beast tonight. Some other people say that Brayton was doing something similar in the whoops/onoff section in practice, and that Chad borrowed the line. Chad was reportedly the only one to do this on every lap in the main. Brayton did it in the main too.

Reed looked so much faster than everyone at the end of the race, i couldn"t believe how he gapped James straight after the pass. His bike looked like it had grip everywhere

Reed rode a good race all night but when he smelled blood on the closing laps you could see
him wick it up a notch. He will be hard to handle now.

Reed killed it by being the fastest guy who stayed upright. Otherwise he had a hard fought third on his hands.

That section was probably worth close to a second and he wasn't giving up time anywhere else.

Nope he was quicker than RV, Dungey may or may have not been able to hold him. Dungey also quicker than RV as seen by reeling him back in and taking him and RV out before the line.

If only SX had a re do for crashes for people like yourself FlaNerd the world would be a better place LOL.

22 Riders line up behind a gate, the best rider on the night crosses the line first, he is also declared the fastest as he completes the 20 laps in the quickest amount of time.

Sometimes a rider on the night may run a quicker lap time in the main event than the winner, but on this occasion not even that happened. The old boy had the fastest lap of the race .2 of a second quicker than the next best Dungey and Kroc. RV was a half a second off Reeds best time.

Time to put the finishing rod away for the night.

next week is a all new race, anything can happen and one of at least six riders could win.

Look at the lap times. Reed reeled in everyone. He was faster than those guys that fell. When Reed got a little jacked by RD remounting, he quickly gained ground on JS, KR and RV.

He had 12 laps under :53. More than anyone, and he had the single fastest lap.

If RV and RD stayed up, they may very well have gotten what JS and KR got …smoked.

Ya he had the fastest lap and also the most laps under 53...

Besides. It's MX. No excuses. Gate drops, first one to the flag.

Don't discredit that win. Earned every lap, stayed in it and passed Stewart clean and fast. The fastest lap at the end was the icing on the cake

Damn right... nothing sketchy about that. He came from behind and made the passes. Looks like he took the confidence from A1, built on it and went to the next level. I'm surprised but happy at the same time. Let's not count out this old scrapper just yet!

As pointed out previously...Brayton did the triple on in his heat race. How soon people forget. In fact...this is how he re-passed RV. In practice, the inside double was faster...but clearly the outside triple-on line got faster throughout the night. Lots of riders failed to adjust. 'Balls' had nothing to do with it.

Also...Reed passed JS in a totally different part of the track.. CR22 was just feeling it tonight. Clearly their set up on the Anaheim dirt is excellent, and Reed rode flawlessly. It can all change depending on the track and the dirt. They were not so good at PHX... Every track is different.

450 Heat 1

Go to 1:45...

Next lap...RV starts doing it.

Dungey also was doing it just before he caught the RCH guys...you can just barely see him at 4:36

Chad was fast everywhere...not just that triple on line.

A lot of guys were doing that triple-on after the whoops. You just have to set it up outside. There were many passes made there during the night show. It seemed RV and Stew were always going inside there, which looked slower because you don't have much time to gain speed on top of those tables

Chad and RV were both very fast in the 3-2-3 roller section after that hip-double. That is where Reed made speed and got beside James for the pass in the turn.

And the Whoops, Chad looks a little faster and a heck of a lot smoother in the whoops than anybody. Both the Ryan's had a few moments in them.

Kroc is super impressive, kid has some speed, In a season or two or maybe sooner once he gets used to running that pace for 20 minutes he is going to be very very hard to beat.

Has the Speed and is super smooth already!.

Thank you for saying this. It was just a different line that got faster as the track wore away. Everybody was doing it at some point...

How does Reed go from 2 seconds slower than the leaders In practice, to beating everyone straight up? Was he not using the fast lines In practice? As far as Reed setting the fastest lap on the 18 lap or so, he's always been cautious in the beginning of races, and takes some time to get his flow on.

Fantastic race by Reed. In fact a great overall race by several. Which Reed will show up next week?

Haters always making excuses and '"what if", "if not for", etc.

Congrats to reedy! Hope him n stewy pic up alotta steam from this. Not a fan of rv, wants everyone to race him clean , but his moves on Stewart where border line. I'm not sure what happens with him n dungey, but he seems like the kid who crys n takes his ball home.I admit I wasn't expecting roczen to be this fast. Good for him! I hope these guys take it to the end. Great racing!
