In the 250f class. Some probably already do. Is it going to put them on the same level as a Pro Circuit bike ? Of course not but they'll be closer. You think there weren't any 134 or 144cc kits running when it was the 125 class ? What factory or satellite team is going to have the balls to protest a true privateer ? To hell with a rule change. Just cheat. Remember, it's not cheating unless you get caught,,,and in the immortal words of Costanza..."It's not a lie if you believe it." Wink

Some people don't like to be called cheaters. Remember when Scott Champion came here looking for a little help to get to the races? When his engine grenaded in that worn out turd of a 250F he was riding and someone along the road to the next race offered to help fix it, some anonymous Vitard started posting up shit that it was a 270 or 280 or some BS. Kid was a backmarker, on the road with his girlfriend, trying to break into the top 20 and here people were busting his balls not knowing if there was any truth to the rumor.

The AMA would likely look the other way unless you try to run a big bore 125, then they'll break protocol and tear you down before the bike hits the track. Ask Ricky Renner for further details.

if you are not stupid enough to post in an open forum that you are cheating, then your bike would probably not get pulled down,

there was a fairly well known privateer with the Nick Name Big Bore, and Kenny Watson's storys of Deegan running one as well are quite funny,

I would not be that surprised if there are a few big bores around in AMA competition,

I think the procedure according to the rule book is that the machine is torn down afterwards not before. Doubtful that there was anything visually obvious to indicate it was a larger bore.

In today's world anything can be posted on the Internet under someone else's name. Should have let it take the track and then determine what to do next.

Some do run big bores, but even a 7th place guy can get torn down, seen it happen the year before last and the guy wasn't even cheating.

Riddle me this: how often do bike get tore down and evaluated?

Based on my understanding it rarely ever happens.

i know for certain that an up and comer several years ago holeshot a 125 moto (back when the 250Fs were just hitting) on a big bore 250F against the factory 250 four strokes and few remaining 125s at the time.

You don't even know what happened do you ?

They were bragging about the big bore, The head AMA tech guy is actually friends with them , they knew before hand not to show up with a big bore.

it made for good press and all the 2 stroke jagoff's jizzed a little.

I remember back in 04 or so talking to a local pros mechanic in the NW who had several national numbers that at the nationals after the parade lap they would top of the tank with a certain type of fuel to give his RM 125 more power and that would make the top of the piston look like you beat it with a hammer. And also said something about soaking the air filter in something special to give it more power. I don't remember what it was tho...

They do. Just saw a pro's 250f(raced in 2013 nationals) on craigslist advertised with a 280 or 290 Big Bore.

That was some kind of either based grease that was in the air box that would dissolve and be undetectable in fuel samples.

Why not do it?
Because it is cheating.
Reason enough for me.
If I had to cheat to compete, I just wouldn't race.
Even if ostensibly no one else would ever know.
I sleep well.

Because some people have a little thing called integrity.

I remember hearing that Ricky Renner had a 144 kit in his bike at Daytona (maybe it was another race) that year he tried to qualify. Apparently the AMA didn't care. Just something I heard though...

Because the chance of getting caught isn't the only reason that people don't cheat.

As much as I wish this were true, don't fool yourself. Professional sports are based on cheating. If it isn't with equipment, then it's with the human body. Motocross is no different in that respect.

Of course there are honest pro athletes with integrity, but that percentage is a lot lower than you probably think.

Tolulene, i used it in the 80,s. Has benzene (i think that was the molecule)in it which adds o2 ,it was volitale and had to be drained after each moto.

Evaporated, toxic, hacrd to jet to but made the engine scream .made plastic tanks brown and brittle

It is what huffers love today

Ever notice how many privateers are sponsored by Hot Cams/Vertex/Cylinder Works?

Back in the '90's a lot of people were filling their float bowl after the parade lap with a highly concentrated mix of propylene oxide through the vent tubes. More power than $50/gal race gas and burnt off after the first 2-3 turns of the race.

Some of them do, however I feel more factories are "cheating" in ways the AMA would never be able to catch them for than there are privateers cheating. Just my opinion.
