Should we track the horse down and shoot it dead? Might make it easier to beat if all the out of shape fatasses don't have to chase it.

Ok just to clarify:

--Jeff Alessi deliberately shines a green laser into the eyes of his brother's number one rival going back over a decade. It is Ryan Villopoto who gets the laser in the face and not any one of the other 39 riders on the line. Forget Malcom, that was long before the start of the race.

--He does this at precisely the most critical moment of the race--when the board goes sideways before the gate drops.

--He then blatantly lies about this deliberate act to anyone who will listen, even trying to drag other team members in to support his lies, while throwing his "ex" girlfriend under the bus.

--When Steve Matthes accurately reports the truth about Davey Coombs catching him red-handed, he doubles down on his lies allowing his father and team owner to back him up while he threatens violence to Matthes.

--He then spends several days using social media sites to continue to protest his innocence even after video and photographic proof show his guilt beyond any doubt whatsoever.

--A person whose true identity is unknown writes a perfectly worded press release labeled an "apology" which bears no resemblance to past writings of Jeff Alessi and posts it using Jeff Alessi's user name here on Vital MX. A press release that contains the statement, "I had no intent to harm either rider or affect their results." Right.

And now that 72 hours have passed, mostly filled with continued denials and even more bizarre accusations against the powers that be, we've got 4 pages of everyone falling all over themselves trying to sound more magnanimous then the last guy about how "we've all screwed up" and "it's time to forgive and move on" and "good for you Jeff, now you're a man."

Are you kidding me?
I agree completely...and someone, I forget who, called it out on the original thread about this...to paraphrase that someone said, "....in a day or two Jeff will come on here with some sort of apology and how he made a mistake, and that hes changing his life around, and most of everyone on here giving him sh*t right now, will fall over themselves to forgive him and give him credit for the apology...."

What a nice letter. Good for Jeff! I'm sure with some patience (I assume we all get this doesn't undo what he did, he wont be allowed back for a while, just that he probably learned you reap what you saw), hard work from Jeff, things will turn around in the end. Cool

I wish pops would follow in his kids footsteps... Wink

Too bad this didn't come out before Tony went on to make even more of a fool of himself.

Great job, Jeff.

For all of you people who want to blast Jeff about who authored this, keep it to yourselves. ANYONE in the position he was in would be a fool not to have every wordsmith and ally helping to craft this document. The fact that he took a couple days and then got help with it is the perfect first sign that he means what he says about thinking before acting.
Agreed.

yeah we won't lose sleep, you're useless to this thread, cut the kid slack, he apologized it wasn't to you it was to the people who matter, so stop being the board douche.

Ray Lewis never apologized for stabbing anyone to death ! Jeff will ride again. Can't say the same or most people that work if they would of done that. Fired. Forever.

Credit for owning up to it. Why did he do it then? I'm confused...he says he didn't do it to harm the riders or results. Did he think it was funny?

So Jeff apologized to DC?

The same DC that Tony said they filed assault charges against?

And just as Tony begins his 2 year plan to take down MXSports and it's mysterious drug ring?

Well, we'll see. But this is probably as good a place as any to let Jeff try to be Jeff apart from Tony.

I don't think anyone is polishing his knob, just glad to see Jeff doing the right thing here. After what a shit show this turned into how could a lengthy apology not help the situation? I'm not gonna go printing any "Free J-Alessi" shirts, but I'm glad he apologized, at least. Is that not better (maybe less entertaining) than more drug and assault charge accusations?

This is a start.... But you have cost your brother everything, the one thing he excels at is outdoor motocross! You put your father in a position to make himself look like an idiot after he has been busting his ass to make this team successful... Apologies are a great start but man, you have to get your shit together! If you would have taken responsibility from the get go this would have never gotten to this point!

WOW! Look who comes out of hiding right when the apology comes out! The biggest Alessi supporter in the biz. Didn't have much to say the last 3 days did ya bud. But now the apology comes out and here comes the Alessi body guard. What a fuckin joke you are.

Bingo

Nice post.

Nay-Sayers can suck it.

I'm going to say this only once: I'm of the opinion that Jeff is falling on the sword for the Team. I'm giving him my respect for that.

I've always liked this guy. I've seen him do some great things and help people in VERY Hard-Times & situations.

Well I guess I can suck it then.

He might be falling on the sword, but there isn't a hell of alot of blade exposed after he tossed his brother, father and their boss onto it first. Not to mention his ex-girlfriend and all the other team members who's livelihoods have been jeopardized.

Like I said, this is a start. It's not exactly the first time he's come here to say he's going to reboot his life and smarten the fuck up.

exactly... The slurping in this thread is EPIC!

2 days ago most of these guys wanted to hang him...now they're holding him high, because of a well written letter? Give me a break....
Just for the record I didn't.

. No one got their eyes burned out, it did not affect the race in any way. It was stupid no lie, right up there with the Tanya Harding caper, but Mike should not have been fined or had points taken away. There has been enough hate on Tony over this, he is paying enough without stupid attacks. I'm not mad at Jeff he has to live with this that is a tough burden to carry. Attack me all you want but the over reaction to this whole thing is moronic.

"Jeff's apology was a script:" this is the kind of thing anyone can write and really means nothing. People have been saying he needs to apologize, but then when he does it's not good enough. If what people are demanding is a "sincere" apology, I don't see what more the kid can do to offer one unless you want it in his own semi-literate composition, which really wouldn't change a thing at all.

In reality, all that matters is how he handles himself in the days to come. I'm not sure there are many people on this board who have their neck out on whether Jeff learns from this and makes better choices. The extent of most folks' stake in this is whether they get to throw more stones. The people who have to depend on Jeff can hold him accountable for his sincerity.
Agreed. It makes no difference to me who wrote the apology. If Jeff takes ownership of the apology, that is good enough for me. Questioning his sincerity is silly and puts Jeff in an impossible position. He apologized and admitted his wrong doing. A significant step for Jeff. The future will now be what Jeff makes of it.

Late or not the apology was needed, and Jeff delivered.

Does that make him "ok in my book"? No. The damage is done. This is something that Jeff will need to rebuild himself from. If he can turn himself around and be a good human being through actions, people will come around. People tend to forgive and forget, and those that don't just like to hold grudges. Can't win everyone back.

I've been down a similar road and have done some stupid shit that has kept me awake all night and not wanting to get out of bed the next day. As soon as I apologized I felt better and made it a point to be a better person. If Jeff can do that he'll be fine.

good to see Jeff stand up and take account for his actions.

IMHO the best way to move on would be to contact Davey and ask what he can do to help out with the next few round. Putting up banners, corner working, picking up trash, doesn't matter. Just show him that you are in it for the interest of the sport. Jeff needs to show that he can be accountable for his actions and that he is sorry. Actions speak louder than words, and your previous actions aren't showing too well right now.

Take the bull by the horns and step up to the plate. I think you'll be surprised by the support you get if people feel like you WANT to improve things. Look at other racers who have fallen away (Jlaw, anthony gobert) that were given many opportunities to succeed. People want to see other succeed and I think Mike has done a good job of just putting his head down and doing his best. Take some time to figure out what you need to do to make things right...
FUCK THAT!!!! Keep the Jeff, and Tony Gong Show well away from the tracks!!!

Well done. It's not easy to admit a lie about a deceitful action. I wish you all the best, Jeff, and hope that things can get back on track for yourself, your brother, and the whole MotoConcepts Team.

P.S.
Whatever grudge I held against you is gone. You are forgiven.

i don't get it...should Jeff have just done nothing, continued to lie, watch his brother and motoconcepts team collapse, go under, suffer, and people lose their jobs because of his stupid actions, and watch people talk smack and flame him and his family, all while knowing he was lying to himself and everyone? Or....OR, should have released an apology, written by him, his girlfriend, a PR person, lawyer, whatever, begin trying to make amends and right a wrong, and own up to what he did wrong? What would be the appropriate thing Jeff could have done to satisfy the flamers, or everyone for that matter? Some of you seem like you want him to do nothing just so you can continue to get your rocks off flaming the guy, trying to get a vital thread to 75, 100, or whatever amount of posts you thought would be cool. I said harsh things about Jeff and the Alessi's, but a lot of what was said by myself and others was a much needed wake-up call for them. Now granted there are people here that have slurped the Alessi's through thick and thin, and are backpedaling like crazy for the crap they talked about everyone BUT Jeff and the Alessi group...you people need to grow up and get a grip on reality! Not everyone is going to forgive the Alessi's for this or all the other crap they've pulled over the years, and you don't need to, but don't flame others for commending the guy for apologizing....

some want to flame, some want to slurp, some want to forgive...

I'm not gonna come in here and kiss Jeff's ass like some of you people. This apology was forced on him and it wasn't sincere. Watching that video with him and Matthes just lets me know what kind of punk ass kid this dude is. It's easy to be a tough guy when other people are standing around and will jump in. Let him say that shit to Matthes by himself and watch him get his ass drug all up and down the road. BUT seeing how loony his dad is this kind of behavior doesn't surprise me...

I'm with pilotdude on this one...

That's cool. Glad you had someone to help you out. I never meant that wasn't a sincere apology just that based off of posts you've made in the past either you didn't do it yourself or you had some one to help you. And while it's all pr right now that doesn't make your appollogy any less sincere. I hope you've learned how your actions can affect others in Ways you never dreamed of at the time. I had to learn the same lesson the hard way too when I was about your age. Way to man up and take responsibility for your actions. Respect.
