I'm more than happy with my Smith goggles. Especially the 2013 models!

Really, we're stupid for not lining up to buy them?

Buy whatever makes you happy. I can think of other ways to spend $160 that will make me happier than a fancy set of goggles. At the same time I've spent my money on things that others would find foolish. Who cares, it's what we like and that's all that matters. I'll spend $600 on a helmet or boots but my limit is about $70 for goggles. It's a matter of time until somebody buys these $160 goggles and straps them onto a $130 helmet, just wait and see.

Easy bro, I don't give a shit what you buy. If you read the entire thread you'll know that I'm playing from both sides of the fence on this one. No fuckin way I'm buying $160 goggles or glasses. I stock up on that end of the year clearance stuff.

I think the guy that will buy these googles will be the Vet Novice who needs Ohlins suspension because the stock stuff is 'junk' and has no adjustability, who gets kicked over the bars because he never set the sag...

I wear EKS Brand and have 4 of their top of the line goggle for $30 a pop. Fresh goggles every moto. After reading this thread I feel like a bottom feeder and failure for neglecting my eyeballs. Oh well, I'll keep on keeping on with my cheap-o goggles that fit like a glove.

If any of you in here complaining about the price of these goggles are the same guys saying that the riders don't earn enough, go back and delete your post now! You are obligated to buy these so that the sponsored riders can have a fresh pair every moto to throw to the crowd.

They are truly awesome. I have three brand new pairs I sell anyone for a $110 shipped. Never worn.

Must admit I was shocked at first when I saw price, but when you look at the prices people willingly pay for a pair of Oakley sunglasses, which to most are just a fashion item, I guess $160 is okay for all the technology that has gone into them.
Oakley are definately pushing the envelope as far as goggle design goes!

The kicker for me is most people will spend $150 on a pair of Oakley sunglasses because they think it will somehow make them cool but they won't spend that much on a pair of goggles that protect their eyes from flying rocks, dirt clods and dust.

Stupid humans.....
Good point. I was about to pile on that I would never pay that much for a pair of goggles, but I've paid over $100 for cycling glasses and didn't bat an eye.

Call me a cheapskate but I wouldn't even consider buying them. Then again I wouldn't spend over $20 for a pair of sunglasses. Actually I guy the $12 ones at Wally World.

Can someone explain to me why it cost $180.00 to save my eyeballs? Wouldn’t $60.00 do the same? Oakley?

Has anyone had an eye injury using standard goggles? How about having a lense blown out? I haven't and don't know anyone that has. Of course, I don't ride with top pros or hang out with them....

Not being critical, I just don't know anyone that has had an issue - though I'm sure it can happen.

I also remember the Jones goggles back in the day. They were tough, but had limited vision if I remember correctly...

Great point, it's almost as if people are inventing a problem that doesn't exist to justify purchasing these goggles.

I can see through my $40 pair's that I've had for the past 3 years just the same as a $160 version. I'll stick with the $40.

Another perspective....as I write I am wearing dark sunglasses (just got out of eye surgery ,$10,000 +). So yes, it is easy for me to say I value my eye sight. In addtion, as long as non-pros continue to spend $1,000 on an aftermarket pipes...well maybe an expensive set of goggles is not so strange.

Background: I am an engineer by trade...and even as a little boy I was trying to improve on my Carrea goggles. I would take off all the existing foam and upgrade the foam with varing gradients of reticulated foam depending on if I was sealing the goggle to the face of filling up the openings at the botttom of the goggle I should also point out that I have been involved with building air filters for 30 years using sealing and filtering components for M1 tanks, drones, marine and high dust applications (dust, water and bullets).

Bottom line I believe it is possible to build a "better mouse trap" and we need to get our hands on this product before we can judge the end result. Also, what no one has mentioned is that just like the ski version of the "Oakley Airbrake Goggle" it may have substantially improved optical qualities over the std goggle. Just my 2 cents...

I've only worn them once, but DAMN, your can see so much more with your peripheral vision compared to a standard pair of goggles, oh, and whatever kind of lens it has in it destroys glare from the sun and sharpens your vision.

Plus, they aren't mud collectors like a traditionally designed goggle, and removing the lens is a piece of cake!

I can't wait to try these. I can justify $92 for a pair of goggles, but $160? They can keep them. How is the fitment around the nose? I have a hard time finding goggles that fit me because of my nose.
I've never paid attention to the Dragon brand, but those NFXs have me really curious. I've worn Smith forever, but I give both Oakley and Dragon a lot of credit for trying to find ways to improve something that has been pretty stagnant for a long time.

At $160 I'm not sure I'm a buyer of the Airbrake, but the Dragons are something I'm really curious to try.

How many others have tried the Dragons and liked them?

The new Oakley Air Brake is the best goggle on the market. You pay for that. You pay for the R&D that Oakley puts into everything they make. You pay a little extra for the O. I agree with 99% of you that $160 is crazy money for moto goggle but take a look at the ski industry where Oakley has been selling $150-$200+ dollar goggles for years. I was hoping they'd be less but I'm not surprised.

How well does the NFX lens seal to the frame? (meaning, does dust get inside?)

Over here, tear-offs are banned at a lot of tracks, so you are pretty much forced to use roll-offs a lot of the time. I was quite interested when I first learnt of the Oakley Airbrakes, due to their extra wide roll-off film. I was going to order a pair, but then I saw the price!

I think I will just stick with my Scott Hustles - I don't have any real complaints about them anyway.
