Doug Domkos, he wasn't that fast but would do it on 1 wheel.
LOL that means you could take his lap times and cut them in half right?

I`ve seen all the riders you guys are talking about and a few more, yes they are very fast but I hate to say this but James Stewart is the fastest of all time.

RJ on his best day couldn't keep RC, Ferry, Stewart, etc. from lapping him. That's not knocking RJ or any of the other top guys of their time but the reality is that riding evolves. The RJ of 1988 put on the line against a 2008 250 or 450 class wouldn't break the top 20.

I saw Magoo at the Rose Bowl It must have been around 1980 he came throught the pack and passed my hero Mark Barnett on the last lap for second I believe. He passed him over a long jump, and i remember him laying the bike flat in the air and looking at Barnett on the way by. He had the determination that only RC came close to. But if it ment loosing my head RC would be tough to bet against.

Overall? RC.

It would have to be RC. While It is tough to bet against Jean M Balye, RC has evolved the sport and the way people ride. If any one from the past brought their style into modern day, RC and James would hand them their ass.

Pit Bierer.

Seeing that guy totally smoke everyone in the '95 des nations was impressive. Also with no armor and a short sleeve shirt. Gold. He blew past Emig like he wasn't even there.

He was scary fast.....but wasn't that great at staying upright.... I'd roll the dice and go with him, just to be different.

RC

Although, I haven't watched any of the previous greats ride before 1984. From 1984 on (IMHO) there hasn't been anyone that could touch RC in his prime.

That's the struggle with these comparisons. While they're fun to do, it makes no sense to think that Joel Robert or Torsten Hallman would keep up with RC or Stewart. The riding skills used 30 years ago are very different than what's used today. However, I really believe that you could take any top rider from 30 years ago, and if brought up with the riding skills of today, they would still be top riders.

To answer the original question- RC.

Yeah, it's like one of those "If I knew then, what I know now..." things.

If I could have my 18 year old body back with the experience I have now? It's great to fantasize.

Back on topic. I say you're a fool if you bet against RC. He's the fastest, the most determined, and has a knack for making the best saves when he should have had his dick in the dirt.
